Christmas/NYE in the US

What are some good places in the US (preferably southeastern US) that are good to visit during this period? New Orleans I would think is fine for NYE but where else would have activity in the week before? I was thinking of Mexico but I've already been there twice and all the larger cities that I haven't been to (Guadalajara, Monterrey, etc.) seem like they would be pretty dead during that period or I wouldn't have enough time to really reap the benefits.

Renting a vehicle and hitting multiple cities also isn't out of the question.

Charleston should also be good for New Year's, possibly better quality than New Orleans. I can't say from experience but New Orleans seems like the kind of place where you're going to get a lot of cheap-tourist boujee bullshit to deal with.

Miami or New Orleans would probably be the best,

Agree w/Jetset on Charleston. Nashville or Atlanta should have some decent options in that time frame. I'd imagine Savannah could have some unique holiday flavor, with that SCAD ass.

If you go the Charlotte route, there's a place in NC where the entire city is lights and decorations tothemax, if that's your thing.

I was thinking about Charleston, but after reading this report I wasn't very enthused about going there (and of course the stuff that's happened in the years after). I'm not fond of having to depend on night game (but I can tolerate it when traveling) and I also happen to be black like RougeNoir. I definitely want to hit up New Orleans but my idea is to start in Nashville and then hit some cities within the 10-12 days leading up to New Years' Eve.

^Sounds good.

If it were me, I'd do 3 days in Nashville, quick stop in Chattanooga (outdoorsy, friendly vibe, underrated), 3 more in ATL, cut thru SE Alabama, R&R in PCB/Pensacola (fantastic beaches), go thru Biloxi for riverboat gamble, and head to NOLA.

If school was in session, I'd rec'd the direct route from Nashville to New Orleans. Good chunk of SEC college life (Tuscaloosa, Hattiesburg, etc), although daygaming in those demographics YMMV as a black dude.

Any idea about whether the beaches will be populated during that part of December (thinking about weather)? Having the beach is a definite plus, although there seems to be a lack of data on Pensacola or its beaches here on the forum.

Damn. That is a really interesting post and a good point. I'd be curious to know if Savannah is friendlier in that regard, being a majority-black city. I haven't hit Nashville in a long time, but by all accounts, it's an awesome town.

About beaches, the panhandle and central Florida are mild, but not warm, in November. I don't know if people hit the beach, but it wouldn't be comfortable until the afternoon. If you're looking for that, I'd pencil in Miami Beach. For all the things that suck about Miami, NYE will be wild as shit.

south beach is the clear winner for NYE, but won’t be logistically feasible based on your desired route.

Pensacola and the Panhandle can get rather chilly (try 40’s-50’s in the AM), and won’t have much in the way of gaming in that time frame. I’d imagine mostly locals and snowbirds.

New Orleans, along with Miami, I think are must visits for any RVfer for the two most uniquely cultural US experiences.

And apparently a massive hurricane is going to hit that part of Florida soon, so I may just pass on going there in December. The only certainties at this point are NYE in New Orleans and some time spent in Nashville. I'm not too high on Atlanta but I think it's at least worth a few days. Sucks that I may not get to a beach, but oh well.
