Senior scientist at CERN suspended for saying men invented physics

That's enough truth-telling for you, scientist!

Quote:Quote:

A senior scientist who said physics "was invented and built by men" has been suspended with immediate effect from working with the European nuclear research centre Cern.

Prof Alessandro Strumia, of Pisa University, made the comments during a presentation organised by the group.

He said, in comments first reported by the BBC's Pallab Ghosh, that physics was "becoming sexist against men".

Cern said on Monday it was suspending Prof Strumia pending an investigation.

It stated that his presentation was "unacceptable".

"Cern always strives to carry out its scientific mission in a peaceful and inclusive environment," the statement reads, calling the presentation "contrary to the Cern Code of Conduct".

The organisation said it was "unfortunate" the views of the scientist, who works at a collaborating university, "risks overshadowing the important message and achievements of the event".

Prof Strumia, who regularly works at Cern, was speaking at a workshop in Geneva on gender and high energy physics.

He told his audience of young, predominantly female physicists that his results "proved" that "physics is not sexist against women. However the truth does not matter, because it is part of a political battle coming from outside".

He produced a series of graphs which, he claimed, showed that women were hired over men whose research was cited more by other scientists in their publications, which is an indication of higher quality.

He also presented data that he claimed showed that male and female researchers were equally cited at the start of their careers but men scored progressively better as their careers progressed.

When the BBC contacted Prof Strumia he said: "People say that physics is sexist, physics is racist. I made some simple checks and discovered that it wasn't, that it was becoming sexist against men and said so."

Last month, Prof Jocelyn Bell Burnell told the BBC she believed that unconscious bias against women prevented them from getting jobs in physics research.

And a major study published in 2012 in the US scientific journal PNAS showed that science faculty members rated identical job applications more highly when presented to them with a male name rather than a female name.

Scientists reacted to Prof Strumia's presentation on social media, complaining about discrimination they had suffered in the course of their work.

Cern - which currently has its first ever woman director-general - said in an earlier statement the organisers were not aware of the content of the talk prior to the workshop.

A Cern spokesman confirmed that there was a video recording of the presentation. Senior managers would decide whether to release part or all of it, it said.

In 2015, Nobel laureate Prof Tim Hunt resigned from his position at University College London after telling an audience of young female scientists at a conference in South Korea that the "trouble with girls" in labs was that "when you criticise them they cry".

It is a sign of the times we live in when women news anchors can muster apparently genuinely felt outrage over statements that are obviously true. One has to feel for that scientist whose career will no doubt be ruined now.

Much of the current SJW and leftist agenda has a strong Emperor Has No Clothes nature. It ought to be a trending hashtag to use every time a tweet says something that ain't so, like not all women have vaginas.

I get that progressives hate Western Civilization and white men, but if they just restricted themselves from positions that have this Emperor Has No Clothes nature, 80% of the problems would be solved, I think.

This workshop will both focus on recent developments in theoretical high energy physics and cosmology, and discuss issues of gender and equal opportunities in the field.

In addition to talks on nuclear and string theory, SM and BSM phenomenology, lattice field theory and cosmology, each day talks and panel discussions will be dedicated to research on gender in academia, with an aim to further the development and implementation of action plans to support women and other minorities in physics.

Since any positive change needs the support of the whole community we encourage everyone, men and women, junior and senior scientists, to participate in this workshop.

Why would it be a positive change for science to have more women in physics? What's the point of reaching percentages of 50% men, 50% women, 15% trannies,... (fuck that's 115%)

If you have a scientific mind, you are mostly concern about results, not about participation trophies.

COMMENT FROM THE WORKSHOP ORGANIZERS

Alessandro Strumia applied to give a presentation on “Bibiliometrics data about gender issues in fundamental theory”. The committee was skeptical of his motivations but decided to allow him to give a scientific presentation on data analysis. The committee is deeply disappointed that the presentation,

which had not been shared prior to its delivery, included attacks on individuals and was contrary to CERN’s values, as set out in the CERN Code of Conduct. CERN’s official statement on the matter can be found here: https://press.cern/press-releases/2018/0...-diversity

The thing is *trigger warning* that many of the hard sciences and mathematics *trigger warning* tend to favor genius loners who can spend hours alone in a lab, day-after-day. And, *trigger warning* most people who fit that profile happen to be *trigger warning* men. And those men, *trigger warning* happen to usually come (for a variety of reasons) from *trigger warning* white and asian ethnic groups.

Anyone who has spent a single semester working in a research university with physics, pure mathematics, etc. departments has seen this first hand. Are there competent female scientists? Sure. But they tend to be extremely masculine in nature or Temple Grandin type aspies. I always avoided the gender studies, sociology, etc. departments, so I won't comment on that.

Also, as goes the purpose of that little get together... Whenever a group says they are having a colloquium on XYZ and also gender stuff, that is burying the lede. That is like saying you are having a party with a few friends... and maybe... just maybe... there might be a bit of group sex going on later. No, you aren't having a party. You are having an orgy. This wasn't a physics gathering. It was some psyop SJW gathering that happened to have some physicists present.

Currently out of office.

I don't know if he intentionally threw himself on the SJW grenade just to further the Manosphere cause or what, but what other way did he see this playing out? He seems like a smart guy.

The fundamental problem that him, James Damore, and James Watson make is that they think that above all, the public or people are interested in a higher scientific understanding of how the world and society works - even if it goes against their own interests, or how they'd like to see the world work.

That is the essence of the scientific method, develop a model for how the world works, then try over and over again to prove it wrong. Asbestos gives me cancer? That can't be, because if so it means I wont have a job - oh and that I'm dying. Recently finished a book called Willful blindness , all about the eager lies we tell ourselves because they go against our interests.

This is what scares me. It's become a religion where if you ask the wrong question, you get burned. Point it out with facts and figures and they just add firestarter. "Why do women apparently get less citations, yet hired sooner over men with more, if they are equal? Here's the data I found, doesn't match the theory of 'everyones equal', so maybe we should tweak it?" That's basically science in the purest fucking form. Then the response is the catch all answer of "sexism", despite that for the last 30 years, every STEM field has been fighting for more girls, having summer camps for 10 yos, coding weekends, special scholarships, and everything imaginable to foster that interest, but still enrollment is at record low levels. While concurrently every big company, university et al is fighting to get 50% STEM employees from 10% of graduates, how can that not result in a premium on being a female?

Like the linux thing, physics is a science predicated on numerical results and accomplishments. People and universities generally appeal to their own self interests, so to think there's a mass conspiracy to hold women down - by both men and women - even at the expense of their own careers - by everyone in the world - is ludicrous.

Funny thing is the accelerating the SJW/Feminism cause is making anyone with iota of sense to realize the true Dark Age for humanity is on the horizon with these lunatics in power. Just how Trump is forcing the left to become more unhinge, the same can be said about this scientist that got canned. Everything that has happen to him proves his point and gave him another data point for his hypothesis. I linked a Tim Pool video below due since he best describe something at 6:31 that resonated with me.

He wants a Star Trek future of endless possibilities. Future of replicators, transporters, Wrap Drive, Spaceships, green space babes, and etc. The moment you take down data because of the feelz, the moment that Star Trek future becomes less possible. That Red Pill that many men and women in science are now swallowing. The rest of population is catching up to our awareness right now.

The statistics and research is not important here, because MUH FEELZ

Really worrying stuff, especially considering this is coming from a place where some of the deepest mysteries of our known universe are being attacked

I can't believe so many cases such as this are happening. How long can men keep taking it? Do we want to allow these fucks to take over everything and keep dictating our lives?

I swear if this event was at my University, I would go and disrupt the event and call these retards out.
Let the University try and remove me. They'll have stepped into a Lion's cage.

This Scientist should lash out and make a public scene out of this circus. He should draw as much attention ad he can towards him and keep pointing out the truth. He should rile CERN, the media and these freaks up and demand to be reinstated. He should get them stuck in a debate. He should become such a pain in the butt for CERN that they are not able to function normally. He should make sure people do not move on from the topic and that they have to confront it till it becomes a huge public issue. More men will then vouch for him. A clear line will be drawn and this scientist will be further empowered.

Trump did it and won. So can many Men. Its time Men, especially redpill men, take the fight to the enemy. The truth needs to win for the better of the world.

An interesting test I occasionally give to people to see if they understand science is the following: You have a series of numbers. 2 4 6 8. You need to figure out the pattern, and can can ask whether any other following number fits the rule, and I will say yes or no. Invariably, most people guess 10, I say it fits, then immediately say the rule is even numbers. Guessing 10 however gives you no new info. The first 4 series matched that pattern. If you think it's even numbers, then you need to guess 9 or 7. Then when I say yes that also matches the pattern you realize 'even numbers' has to be wrong. And therefore it must be "single digit numbers", or "any increasing set of numbers" etc, and have to ask again, the whole time eliminating things you can confidently say *aren't* the case, until you're left with only one idea that is.

That's the thing here. Everyone says women are prejudiced against, so they go looking for data that fits like the names on resume test. That's the equivalent of guessing 10. This guy here guessed 9, more or less proved the expected pattern was wrong, and pissed a lot of people off.

As a slight aside I just read that a Canadian lady is getting the Nobel prize for Physics for the first time in 55 years. I honestly have no problem with this, and commend her for her work obvious high level work, but unfortunately I hope the specter of political correctness didn't influence the judges opinions, thereby casting a shadow on her work like happened with Malala a few years back.

Yesterday, I read that sloppy research or bad management at the CERN, could actually destroy the planet, and shrink the Earth to 330ft across [Image: confused.gif]

And today I learn that the CERN has its first ever female director, obsessing on gender issues and dismissing scientific facts! [Image: confused.gif] [Image: confused.gif]

So, we're probably a few months away from total extinction. Nice.

"Professor Lord Martin Rees has revealed the 'worst case scenario' for particle accelerators - and they could mean the end of Earth as we know it.

He warns that if things went wrong, they could result in a black hole being formed, or the Earth being turned into a 'hyperdense sphere' measuring just 330 feet across—the length of just two football fields.

Particle accelerators like the CERN Large Hadron Collider shoot particles at incredibly high speeds, smash them together, and observe the fallout."

CERN is dealing with incredibly dangerous and important experiments. We could literally all die if said experiments go wrong. Now it gets run by SJWs? This is low key one of the worst things that could happen.

Yea, if we fail this shit test, it might be the last one we ever fail. My word, it is scary how so many institutions risk literally the entire Earth to appease women. Pray that they put competent men in there before we all get shrunk to the size of ants.
