Thanks Roosh. I saw some of myself in that - I cheered went Gawker went down. I should be only focusing on improving myself, not in the demise of others, even if they are enemies. That was very weak of me. I can't improve if I don't admit where I've gone wrong.

I'm sad to hear that. It was a good site for me to read after I started taking the pill. Take some time Roosh and recover.

This strikes me as the right decision. Yes, I'm sad to see it go - I'm sure you're sadder to let it go - but the time for RoK is past, for a while at least.

While I am not privy to your plans, I know that you have them (and even if you don't, I'm confident that a force is working in your subconscious which will manifest soon). I always considered you to be far more significant than a Journalist Quote Pick Up Artist Journalist Unquote and I'm glad that you've written your manifesto, and are now free to pursue your true calling.

2018 saw a lot of pushback from the Left, after the strategic errors of 2017. The scuttling of RoK, amongst other factors, will lull them into complacency while we remuster and reorient. I'm already moving in a new direction myself, and have received a great deal of support from unexpected quarters. I am very optimistic about the future; the tides of history are moving, and those who shout loudest about "The right side of history!" are living in the past. Our time is coming. Trump's election gave us a taste of it - but it's time for us to put down the toys of social media, and start picking up the tools of civilization building.

I don't see why you don't hand ball it to someone else bro!

Don't let our enemies win, young men need to be educated where I visit ROK nearly everyday for 5+ years now! You need to throw in 'donation' link at the top of each article where I don't see you asking for donations any more bro! Have a monthly donation limit we have to meet.

ROOSH, YOU ARE THE JESUS OF MEN! I thank you for everything you have done and sacrificed!

We are at a turning point (I believe civil war soon) and need websites like ROK! Don't let these cunts win!!

I haven't actually read RoK in a long time, I used to in 2013-2014, but then found the forum a much better resource.
It's not like the site is shutting down, it and all it's content is still there, for anyone to read the articles.

Something to think about gentleman: The overall picture and the long game. This isn't 2010 anymore. It's almost 2019 and in just under a decade, things have changed drastically. We need to realize this and truly understand what that means.

We aren't "retreating". We are redeploying because of the situation we find ourselves in.

A New Hope

ROK was perfect early on because the internet was different. Going viral meant triggering uber progressive types. It brought about viral traffic which could be monetized. Included in that package was essentially free targeted advertisement for the 1 of 15 men who came across ROK because haters exposed them to the site.

It was the peak of a golden era that had really started in 2010. Dissident thought and small "red pills" have seeped into mainstream culture and even mainstream conservatism. Tucker Carlson just recently questioned if Diversity was our strength. Basically, we've gone from YouTubers questioning progressive dogma to it happening in small amounts in the overall mainstream.

The Empire Strikes Back

However around 2015 on, especially after Trump, things started to change. The same tech bros who grew up in progressive dominated academia, culture, and campuses relinquished their ideas of free speech for hate speech. The progressive establishment and its backers started calling in their big guns and utilizing their places and ivory towers of power.

Essentially, the establishment especially progressives realized that needed to make use of the strongholds of culture, media, academia, and political might they've built up since the late 60s.

Look back at just the last few months and you see everyone from CNN to professors at elite colleges calling for censorship and banning of Dissident Thinkers. The students they've groomed and influenced dominate places like Silicon Valley and doing what they've been taught via a progressive worldview: to retain power and crush dissent.

You see all these purges and bannings, but the real key is control over platforms like Stripe, Paypal and the financial centers of power which apparently goes as far as MasterCard. That's a big deal.

Unfortunately, it means that we are in no position to be preaching a Dissident message in the way we once did. Get just a bit too much attention and it's suddenly all over. Very few of us are actually "self-sustaining" and to pretend that we can all be is blissful deliberate ignorance. (Yes, we can all improve ourselves and our situations greatly, but we still have to be realists.)

Look at the progressive might out there. Everyone from the lowest foot soldier protesting at Chic Fil A and the Senate to "journalists", activists, and gender studies majors have jobs lined up for them somewhere in some slot so they aren't starving and homeless on the streets. Theirs all sorts of special departments, jobs at Buzzfeed, tech giants, etc for them.

We DONT have anything like that resources wise. If we are honest with ourselves, it will take at least a generation. Progressives have been doing this since the late 60s. We have a TON of catch up work to do. So what do we do in the meantime?

We have to form our own kind of "passive" resistance. NeoReactionaries are correct when they state, "There is no point to being open or public before you can win openly and publicly." We have to adapt our thinking and strategy.

Channeling Our Von Clausewitz

Look at the armada arrayed against us. They aren't just consumed by their own hubris; their victories are something like ROK getting shut down or some dissident figure getting banned from twitter. Sure there's bigger moments and victories they have had and will have. Doesn't matter. Let them gloat, praise "de-platforming", etc.

While it's much harder to build any real platform these days, guys like Vox - love or hate - are building their own platforms from comics to publishing houses. Quintus Curtius has been re-translating the classics and putting out incredible literature. That's what we need to be doing and we need to be wise about it. We don't need attention at this point. The return of investment is far more negative than positive at this time.

We need to hunker down and form networks. There's no need to "evangelize". Men - hell women too - will start digging deeper. They either will double down on their current worldview or will have that "red pill" moment. Each one will find their own path. In the meantime many of us have found the starting point of our journeys down that path depending where we are in life. (Different men are in different stages/seasons as Quintus so eloquently has talked about.)

As I mentioned earlier, our enemy is deep in their hubris. They glorify killing their kids. Let's bring back the joy, honor, and respect that society one showed for having them and raising sons and daughters in this worldview. I and my wife have two young sons and we plan on having several more children. This is my path.

For those of you who can, I encourage you to do go down a similar one. (I believe most men are called to have a family.) For those of you who are not, do what you can to bring about a culture that places value on the important things in life. This will take a long time. But there are plenty of resources here to aid in this pursuit and the long game.

Guilds, "brotherhoods", Mannerbund, tight knit bonds and communities, etc aren't built from scratch. They require a group of people who TRUST each other. Thats something the diversity obssesed zealots will never see and why they will always eat each other. You don't need to evanglize. Those who come will come. Meanwhile we build something that they can come to.

The foundation for any new culture is one of trust. That's why the meetups were an important thing and why we should be doing them often - on the down low if need be. You don't know a man till you've met him, seen his body language, his behavior, and his charater. Yes, this is harder than it sounds. I've haven't been able to make a meetup of the guys from Chicago in over 3 years now. (Toddlers are alot of work and our budget is tight.)

For those of you who can meet, bond, grow, and let your iron sharpen one another, I encourage you to do so. Don't just limit yourself either. People out there sense that's something is wrong. They are searching for an identity.

Let's build one that speaks softly and quietly, but is slowly building resilient fortifications. Focus on becoming proficient, building needed skills across the industries. Make yourself indispensable. Build networks of fellow men who can build a business. Hell, raise up kids of your own to help you in this effort. (Bring back the family business.)

I think plenty of us here are at this point. We don't need any attention or recognition from the mainstream and people who sway with the ever-shifting winds of culture to acknowledge the validity and importance of what we are doing. We already know.

One last thing I'd like to stress is being careful how much we stare into the abyss - which ROK did pretty much every other day. Sure it made important points, but you can't look at monsters every day and not start to become them - both in how you combat them and what you do during and after the combat.

The Right - which I consider most of us to be - need joy; especially in a day and age where people are lonely, frantic from the 24/7 news treadmill, and the next "cultural battle". Forget about "libtard meltdowns" and how dumb SJWs and progressive feminists are. Stop making schadenfreude the entirety of what brings enjoyment to your day. Look deeper. I think that's what Roosh's next project may be all about.

Kudos Gentleman.

@armenia4ever: Brilliant summary of the situation at hand. Thanks for sharing this. I myself have come to similar conclusions over the past year and as a consequence re-structured my own life and social circle accordingly.

One more thing I would like to add: It's always darkest (or coldest) before dawn. The fact that the Left is winning battles does not mean they are winning the war. Reason being that the means employed to win those battles have awaken a lot of centrists who up until now were considered swing voters. In particular after the Kavanaugh debacle this is now rapidly changing as what remains of the center is confronted with a binary choice. A contributing factor of this of course is the fact that liberal sympathizers and many of the 'undecided' increasingly realize that they themselves or perhaps one of their loved ones could easily be the next victim in the crosshairs of the SJW lynch mob.

Do not despair brothers, we will get there, and most likely quicker than you may anticipate. And when we do it is going to be glorious.

@armenia4ever, those links in your post were pure gold. Haven't heard of those sites before, so I now have some new reading material in between RVF surfing.

Your post came at just the right time, as I'm sure I wasn't alone in feeling a bit deflated after Roosh was thrown off Amazon and then him announcing the ROK hiatus. On top of all the social media purges, things were looking grim.

Online stuff is great, but this (and your post and links) is a reminder that we need to focus on real life change and build our own gangs (Mannerbunds) and communities. That, ultimately is what frightens the fuckers the most.

There is really only so much you can write about game, though.

Get fit, dress well, whiten your teeth, tan, interact with women like you're a well adjusted social human being, don't waste all your money (profit = income - expenses), don't orbit around women hoping and praying they'll fall in love with you, go to foreign countries, do activities outside of gaming, be around hot women, develop social circles, don't be afraid to display masculine traits despite what the media says, etc.

There isn't really all that much to this.

If I were writing a blog for women, it would say "Don't be fat, grow your hair long, and be feminine and pleasant."

ROK is going on hiatus after six years

This is monumental news.

I've been noticing a real change in 'the air' myself the last few days. Different websites. Different people. Something about to 'happen'.

Return of Kings was great.

It was my gateway. From there it led to Roosh's other main site where he laid down his writing in a way no one else really did at all at that time. As others have mentioned, I did the same: I devoured his work.

Sure, Roosh is probably no Ernest Hemmingway (was he any good anyway?). He's not a 'style leader' per se, but I do think he is a thought leader. Or rather he was. He led the thought. Lots of people caught up. Job done. What to do now?

The few people I've had contact with in real life on this forum (just PM's and TC's), when the subject has come up, we both agree, we love RooshV!

It's hard to give the guy props because it's seen as a kind of sucking up or sort of ingratiating oneself. I get that. The higher repped and longer standing members can give thanks and praise easier because they don't have so much of an ulterior motive.

Whatevs. We all know Roosh is great. We all know he has inspired us. We all know he has put his neck on the line to do so. It's just getting a bit too personal now.

I think the timing to cut out now is perfect. They've already been attacking the supply-line for a while. It's only a matter of time before it gets even more personal. If they can hack down hacker Linus Torvalds, they can cut old tall poppy RooshV down to size pretty soon too.

But I don't see Roosh's bowing out now to be cowardice, more prudence, good timing. The job is done. It's for the best.

I really enjoyed your youtube video the other night Roosh. It was a great communication. It was sincere and from the heart.

Roosh doesn't have that over the top kind of 'magnetism' or 'charisma' that people like Alex Jones or even Molyneux have. And all the better for it. He's a down to earth, unpretentious guy that lets his writing speak for him, lets the other men from the forum and their relationships speak for him. The proof is in the pudding.

I'm pretty sure Roosh knows he wouldn't make a very good fake evangelist on day time TV to fleece the sheeple. There in lies his charm. I really warmed to you in a new way last night Roosh watching that, seeing you kind of vulnerable and still stoic and philosophical and positive about it all. It showed your mettle.

But this is why you probably won't be allowed to transfer your talents across the media domain. Another reason to crush you, albeit quietly at first, then with great fanfare later if needs be.

You were a man who's time had come.

You came, you wrote, you conquered.

You have nothing left to prove, to yourself, to anyone else.

But I'm sure you are just re-grouping, getting the band back together kind of thing. Working out the new 'hustle'.

You have become a very powerful man. You have many powerful men behind you. But still...

"The game is more than the player of the game,
and the ship is more than the crew".

I see this as nothing but a tactical/strategic reconsideration. The way the zeitgeist is right now, it would be silly not to do this.

I wish you well. I have every faith it only goes from strength to strength from here.

Get outta here with that (paraphrasing), "oh game is so easy, go buy a big truck, have a big dog, buy Sonos speakers and things will just fall into place" nonsense.

I didn't even like the majority/direction of content on RoK, but I wouldn't ever write it off like you do. What an insult to Roosh's work and the forum in general.

Hanks been called out on that before. Seems he's pretty comfortable at beginner-beginner intermediate level game and he has enough prestige and wealth to make a good run at it. There's no harm in that but I hope newbies don't read that and think "why isn't this working for me" and resign to being miserable.

Back in the day if someone would have told me that's all there is to it with that much authority I probably would be depressed as fuck. The hard limits to game are the same hard limits to the human mind, which most of us - even if we dedicated our whole lives to it - would not reach.

Eh, this is the problem ...

A lot of you boys want to believe the online game myth. It goes like this:

"All you need is solid spit and nothing else matters. Your looks, your career, your style, your fitness, etc doesn't mean anything. The only thing you need to do is spit good game and you'll be smashing dimes on the regular."

I wish that were true. If it were, I'd be awash in poon every single night and spend my days banging away on dimes, eating ice cream, drinking tequila, sleeping, and bartending for a living. Philly's Dan Bilzerian. Who gives a fuck about the gym? Or doing anything?

Roosh would move to Philly and we'd start a harem. We'd bang chicks, get fat as fuck, never do laundry, and drink all day. Maybe play some Playstation. It would be awesome.

In reality, having an active sex-life involves a lot of different factors -- looks, height, spit, style, career, hobbies, yadda yadda. I wish it were as easy as just having sly spit. But it's not.

I've learned this from experience.

Candidly, I have learned more from the times I've gotten blown out than the times I've gotten laid.

However, there are things you can do to increase your ability to bang chicks, even if you're not all that attractive: own a truck, have cool hobbies, learn to camp, get your spit down, tan, be fit, whiten your teeth, learn to fight, etc.

Will these things ensure you're banging dimes with ease? No, but they're fun and definitely increase your prospects.

Also, keep in mind that I don't write books for a living, and I don't profit from this. I just write on the forum because it's fun, and I host stuff at my house in Philly for the same reason (drop by if you want, our group is cool).

The bottom line is that looks matter for women, just like they do for men. Sorry, they just do. You probably don't bang fat chicks; they won't bang loser dudes.

I'm saying this as a man who is average looking and short.

When you boil it all down, game isn't all that difficult. Men and women want the same thing -- people they are attracted to.

Man? Well, that depends. That fat pile of lard in the picture is now a "she," calls itself Olivia, has less than a quarter of the twitter followers Roosh does and [url=https://www.amazon.com/Olivia-Hill/e/B071FKGPRM/ref=dp_byline_cont_ebooks_1]it's poor excuses for books available on Amazon
will never reach anywhere close to those of Roosh.

One would think that an author, of all people, would be the last one to gleefully jump up and down when a fellow author is silenced in any respect. The reaction in that tweet is nothing but pure, unadulterated envy from something outwardly joyful, yet otherwise self aware of its own insignificance.

I predict death by suicide within a decade.

On a totally different note, another reason contributing to the shutdown of ROK that Roosh mentioned - I think in a recent video - was that reading habits have changed and people don't want to spend the time on long online articles. While I hardly considered anything on ROK to be too long, nevertheless if this trend is true, things are worse than I imagined.

If entertainment is limited to "Netflix and chill" or fiddling with a brain dead video game and even a blog post is too long to read, this does not portend well at all for the future of corn syrup-eating masses, and definitely not for their public-school indoctrinated children. I've witnessed physical books decline in popularity for a long while, but even now there are some titles just not available electronically or on audio book format. What used to be casual reading of substantive books is now seen as just too heavy. Sad, especially given what can be gained through intellectual pursuits.

It'll take extra effort to prevent the mind slouch from happening, even to us. Need to pick up heavy things not just at the gym, but with your brain once in a while too. Don't forget to take the big book challenge to keep the mind from rotting. It might even help prevent Alzheimer's!

Never read too much of ROK. Maybe it was the display. Too confusing. Or the amount of articles. Too much info it would require a high amount of energy to keep pace.
Roost blog is really like reading a book. You read a page and wait for the next story.
What’s lacking is a way of making money. Because money IS power. A network of trusted people which will not fuck you over. Kinda like masons in terms of network but completely distant in thought.
Another flaw is the lack of a team. The personalization of Roosh work will hurt him by burn outs. Tuth was maybe the right person. But didn’t want to handle. The tradeoff was not worth it for him.

When you boil it all down, game isn't all that difficult. Men and women want the same thing -- people they are attracted to.

The problem is with all the things you supposedly have going for yourself, you should be swimming in poon in a major city like Philly.

What limits you is your total lack of understanding of game beyond a very basic level. That's why you think it's big dogs, big trucks, camping, big tats, Sonos speakers and a bartending job gets you laid. You don't see what's behind the scene. You don't see what you project.

I'm sure the biggest reason you don't get laid is because you
A. Haven't maximized your looks.
B. Have no actual game past base levels
C. How to hit chicks on an emotional level, reel them in and keep them there.

The reason why you can get laid sometimes as a lawyer is because of your status. The reason why you can't keep these hoes or have them doing tons of shit for you or having them swoon is because you have no strong game.

You don't know how to speak to a chick on an emotional level as a man and that's where you fail. The image you project is a guy with so much going for him that's still a LOSER. Your external and accessories says man. Your internal and aura says fraud.

No wonder why you aren't getting laid like and no wonder it takes you a minimum of 3 dates. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if you aren't paying these chicks.

All those things DO matter. Plus! And a big plus there! You have to know how to deal with women.

There are 6'3" jacked frat bros who have daddy's credit card and live in a mansion(Sonos speaker and big truck included) who still can't sleep with a random chick beyond the average 5 jumping on his dick after 3 drinks and a grinding session.

They are reliant on the same sloots they've always known. And when all else fails they throw their perceived status and money at the problem in the hopes that it does something. And it does jack shit.

I wish that were true. If it were, I'd be awash in poon every single night and spend my days banging away on dimes, eating ice cream, drinking tequila, sleeping, and bartending for a living. Philly's Dan Bilzerian. Who gives a fuck about the gym? Or doing anything?
No one said that. No one said that ever. But if you're telling me there aren't 10 dudes better looking than you with more money out each night you'd be lying. You know why most of us do better than those dudes?

Because we gush their panties by playing with their head.
Quote:Quote:

Roosh would move to Philly and we'd start a harem. We'd bang chicks, get fat as fuck, never do laundry, and drink all day. Maybe play some Playstation. It would be awesome.

In reality, having an active sex-life involves a lot of different factors -- looks, height, spit, style, career, hobbies, yadda yadda. I wish it were as easy as just having sly spit. But it's not.
How will she know the bolded? Is some chick you meet at X or Y place or even online gonna give two shits if you're professional sky diver if you can't so much as get her out in the first place.

Those things are cherries. She'll mentally masturbate them back to being the reason. You know what those things do give you? The ability to wax poetic. If you had game you'd know that.

And by the day the idea you actually have game is looking slimmer and slimmer.

Again other than the physical how will she know half of those things? And on the physical you think a 7 or above, hell even a 6, could find someone better looking to bone that night or be seen in public with.

You know why they don't. Because there's a lot of dudes that have that shit and are still chodes who don't know how to interact with them.
Quote:Quote:

Will these things ensure you're banging dimes with ease? No, but they're fun and definitely increase your prospects.
The sanest thing in this entire post. Still wrong. They don't do jack shit to increase your prospects. They help you help yourself to increase your prospects.

I'm not even joking when I say that some of the guys who you respond to have a better lifestyle than you by a far margin. It'd be laughable to even compare it to what could happen in a backwater like Philly.

But if you keep stressing the lifestyle bit rather than treating it as just another door you'll still keep romanticizing your failures through the most horrid "syndicated" writing I've "candidly" ever seen.

Also, keep in mind that I don't write books for a living, and I don't profit from this. I just write on the forum because it's fun, and I host stuff at my house in Philly for the same reason (drop by if you want, our group is cool).
I doubt this.

Attraction isn't built on JUST looks. The more important part is your general social fitness. Your ability to charm. CHARISMA. That has more sway than anything else in this world.

Anyone who says otherwise is middling at best. Trinkets and 8% body fat only buy so much. The real currency in this world is a bit more complicated.

Hank you of all people should understand the power of words and psychology, you're a lawyer. We have numerous examples of people with no status, no wealth, and modest looks being extremely successful with women. The mechanism at work here is game. It's not just "spit". It's a thorough understanding of attraction and emotions and leveraging some of the factors you mentioned to a achieve your goals.

Money matters. Looks matter. Status matters. Nobody that isn't trying to scam you or isn't deluded will make that argument. Game however is leveraging all that.

Think about business right. Can you make a million with a dollar and dream. We're Americans so the answer is yes. You have to have an obscene force of will and mastery of leverage. That's game. What's the answer for average people with such lofty ambitions? Get a favorable loan dummy. Don't leverage .1 leverage 1000.

It seems like from how you talk Hank you're severely under leveraged and game will fix that. Or if you're happy and content, great. I do find it a bit of a detriment that such a high repped member is sounding like a game denyer

It's because his material isn't original.

He got his reps from condensing essentially decades worth of game guru knowledge and cherry picking his favorite bits.

Hell a lot of the posts he got repped from take the talking points of really old material from the forum or otherwise. Even saw a few Iceberg Slim talking points.

Nobody's really called him on it because it was honestly irrelevant until we saw his real opinions and game denialism pop up.

If you believe this, you'd quit the forum, you'd tell Roosh he's dumb for writing books instead of just putting out a pamphlet with these basics, and laugh at people who have any trouble with any of these as they are top-level concepts so basic that accomplishing them should be self-evident.

I'm saying this as a man who is average looking and short.

When you boil it all down, game isn't all that difficult. Men and women want the same thing -- people they are attracted to.

I don't want to get too much into a pissing contest, but I think when guys are saying that another man simply is not hitting chicks on an emotional level and his looks/status isn't an issue, this is a little disingenuous and reminds me of an old post from Rollo tilted The Medium is the Message. In essence, the appearance/status of the person is an important ingredient to how the message is received, and therefore, how the message hits someone emotionally.

Say you doing a presentation at work, and one of the interns comments on the intelligence of your idea. This is gonna make you feel good about yourself, sure. Now say the CEO of the Company says the exact same thing, in the exact same tone, with the exact same body language, how would you feel then? You'd be through the moon. Same words, same message communicated, but the Who in the equation makes all the difference.

Same thing with arousal/attraction. If some halfway decent looking guy hits on a woman, she could receive it in many different ways, but if an Actor hits on her, she'll spend her whole brunch date with the ladies on Sunday gloating about it.

I've gotten complements from women I've found attractive as well as old fat women. I assure you the way it made me feel wasn't the same for each. It's true for me, it's true for you, and it's true for women.

There's a middle ground to be had between game-denialism and game-purism.

Civilize the mind but make savage the body.

The middle ground you're referencing but failing to articulate is a strong conceptual understanding of what game is. I blame the word game, it's misleadingly simple but near infinitely complex.

If you can hack some game theory - the thesis paper and subsequent analyses(and it's okay if you can't. To this day I can barely make heads or tails of it despite several thorough readings). There are equal starts and unequal starts. If you can conceptualize a "start" as when you make first contact with a woman, it's obvious that youe CEO will have better odds or a win condition (lets say its bedding her, and lets say the woman is your opponent, and the woman is a constant variable - even though they're not) than a broke man of equal looks. However the proper utilization of leverage makes almost anything possible, unless you fail to have the capacity to do it. Take chess. A chess master will beat a novice every single time without fail, brutally. They start from the same place mind you. What's different, game. Experience, knowledge, strategy, and the ability to improvise all in one word. Now apply that to our much more complex men vs women paradigm. Our start position is with different pieces, on a different field, with different rules (ironically none of them are as solid as chess but just as potent). It gets obfuscated with inseparable egos and a unfathomable and immeasurable amount variables that even masters can only reduce and simplify and begin to measure. One thing students of the game can demonstrably reference is this though. The difference between a CEO and a broke charmer competing for the same girl and getting her is Game. The difference between an ugly pimp and a sexually frustrated handsome man is Game. That difference is both an avenue for "punching above your weight" and a conduit for understanding.

It's the difference between a broke average looking dude in a 2nd tier city turning bad bitch feminists into maids and fucktoys and a well to do lawyer with 50x the dough taking 3 dates to bang broads in philly.

I understand that you need a well deserved break from managing ROK Roosh! But I almost beg you bring the site back with fresh articles etc, if only for a while, just to remove the smirk from the faces of the people that are now celebrating our perceived demise. It would be very satisfying indeed to destroy their premature celebration. Hope you have something planned for the near future!

We will stomp to the top with the wind in our teeth.
