Any brothers posting in this post using these? I stopped fucking with razors in general about 4 years ago due to nasty razor bumps I would get. I have herd strait blades do give a quality shave which won't cause razor bumps but I've never submitted myself to find out. My pops fucks with a safety razor, he didn't really get bumps but he's dark as night and literally hacks his face up.. no soap.. no cream. Don't even thing he uses water either, just strait jungle with it.

Have you tried TendSkin lotion? I've been using it for a few years, and it's the only thing that's worked for razor bumps for me. It's kind of expensive, and it burns as you apply it after you shave and your pores are open, but it works. You can find it on Amazon.com, or their own site, http://www.tendskin.com

You may be able to get it cheaper on Amazon though.

tendskin is amazing. I use the shaving gel [Image: banana.gif]

I gashed my cheek today, not cool. I got too cocky after about 3 shaves with the safety razor. Wouldn't stop bleeding, now it looks like I have an aids lesion on my face. This will hurt the game for a few days.

slubu-

Wanted to see how you felt about the safety razor after a few months use. Cost aside, are you getting a much better shave as compared to a brand new Mach 3 or Fushion shave?

I usually jump right into things, but I get the feeling that I'm gonna nick myself left and right. For years, I've been shaving my face in the shower using a good conditioner for lube and I get really good results. My biggest issue is that the stubble is back within 24 hours. If a safety razor makes a significant difference in time between shaves, I'm gonna make the jump. What's been your experience?

I love it and will never go back. My setup is the Edwin Jagger DE89 I believe, with a badger brush, astor blades and TOBS sandalwood shaving cream. After you get use to it, you will never want to go back. Much cleaner shave, cheaper, etc.

The only thing is the fucking blade is sharp as hell and I've had two incidents. First I cut my face pretty good and it wouldn't stop bleeding. Next was I threw my razor in my toiletry bag and was throwing other shit in there when the tip of my finger hit the blade and sliced it off. Again wouldn't stop bleeding. Other than that I've been fine. Just go slow and you will survive easily.

Can't recommend it enough though.

I switched to a safety razor years ago and it was the best personal grooming decision I've ever made. Better shave, no more razor burn and the razor blades cost me about 5% of what I was paying for disposable cartridges. Plus it looks cool and manly. I tried the straight razors as well but didn't find they offered any advantage over a safety razor, rather more time consuming and I was paranoid I'd accidentally slit my throat.

What safety razor do you use?
I use a fusion right now but I'm looking to switch

Maybe I'm doing it wrong, but I just got a safety razor and it feels like shit.

With the cartridges, I can be more loose with how I shave and it does a better job.

The guy who makes cartridges in which the blades can be replaced will be a zillionaire.

Straight razor recommendations? How about . . .

(1) Be sure you're calm and collected and in a safe environment before shaving your pubic hair with one;

(2) Steel yourself before seeing any of the various stage or screen versions of the Sweeney Todd story;

(3) Consider entirely avoiding seeing Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dalí's 1929 surrealist short film Un chien andalou (An Andalusian Dog).

A straight razor is never, ever allowed near my manhood. Ever. If my razor takes a life of it's own like in some Stephen King novel, the last thing my Johnson needs nearby is a straight razor.

I've been using nothing but straights and DEs for five years. Go over to Badger and Blade or Straight Razor Forums and tool around there - you'll get more info than you ever need.

Quick start:
Buy a badger brush, good soap, a DE off EBay, and a box of Feather blades. Learn by doing. It's never as scary or as hard as people claim.

To get the most comfortable and effective shave, strop your straight razor every time you shave. Hang your strop from your bathroom drawer using the hook on one end of the strop. If you're stropping right after honing, just use the strop's leather side
