How do you beat your addictions without having to never use again?

If you want to quit anything that you use habitually, be it coffee, smoking, alcohol etc.

What’s the mentality to have, and what activities are useful to do to replace the dopamine you spend on any given addictive substance?

I’ve read that fasting helps, as well as playing musical instruments. Any experts on the forum that have beaten many addictions?

Sex addiction is the one hardest to control for me; I can never go a week without sex, and I have to cum at least 4 times in a night to feel satisfied. I get craving of chocolate and fast food after sex, and I feel like doing something reckless, like my dopamine system is not satisfied with what I’m getting.

What the hell do you when you’re addicted to something vital, that wouldn’t be in your best interest to quit completely?

Everything I’ve heard about people that have quit an addiction, is that they can never use the same substance again for the entirety of their lives.

Willpower is everything

The harder you practice, the luckier you get.

True. More than 10 years ago I quit for good smoking weed after smoking daily for 5 years...looking back was the best thing ever I did. First two weeks where tough, my eyebrows where always in "mad" mode. The third week was better...by the fourth the smell of that shit disgusted me. I put in my mind that I was never going back.

Positive mindset is good in life...but sometimes to get rid of an addiction you might have to associate that addiction with a real bad episode/period of your life.

I had a really bad addiction to MMORPGs back when I was younger. Wasted countless hours and thousands of dollars.

Rocha is definitely on to something. Associating gaming with a really bad period in my life helped me quit for good.

The best policy for stopping addiction is avoiding negative addictions in the first place.

With weed for example, set a parameter on it. I'm only going to use it x times this month. Then stick to it.

I used to be an alcoholic, but after learning more about diet and implementing the things that I learned (eating more fat, fasting more often, cutting down on sugars and grains), I realized that I no longer had a compulsion to drink to oblivion. A lot of fat people would do better in life by being social instead of eating. A lot of cigarette smokers would do better in life by going for a run or lifting heavy weights instead of smoking.

Some addictions are caused by a lack of vital essence elsewhere. Oftentimes it's caused by a lack of community, sunshine, exercise, or quality food.

“I have a very simple rule when it comes to management: hire the best people from your competitors, pay them more than they were earning, and give them bonuses and incentives based on their performance. That’s how you build a first-class operation.”

I've quit smoking and alcohol without a problem. I smoke cigarettes when I go out though but then I quit the day after again.

Willpower is idd a big part of it but removing triggers is another. I hide my cigarettes after going out so I can't get "triggered" when I see them.

Affirmations have helped me a lot to kick my cigarette addiction.

Every morning I would say out loud "I will never smoke a cigarette again in my life". And then I would state reasons why I'm never doing that again. "Because they are filthy, unhealthy and expensive, but above all, because i refuse to be owned."

Sounds silly, but works wonders.

Ok,

I might be able to help here, I have quite prescription opioids and benzos having severe withdrawals from both.

First, some men feel crappy after cumming, it’s biological, some have mental symptoms and others have physical and some have both..it’s called post orgasmic illness syndrome and has to do with the draining of neurotransmitters... just like how you feel down after Molly... only some guys have it. And it sucks...
Do you feel depersonalized after cumming, like your out of your own head instead of inside? Do you feel depressed, irritable, have uncontrollable thoughts, become more impulsive?? Perhaps the best way to tell if you have POIS is to know the more times you cum in one day the worse you will feel.

The best way to beat additions is to know that you will feel better after beating it... and to know you absolutely cannot survive feeling worse!

Serisouly, perhaps the best way is through either a spiritual or phycadelic experience. One dose of Magic mushrooms, MDMA, and LSD has been known to keep alchoholics and heroin addicts clean for years...

Phycadelics rewire your brain chemistry, they allow a fresh start. I know you don’t want to hear it, but Jesus seems pretty damn good at keeping lots of addicts clean also...
