The arrival of Yemeni refugees in South Korea sparking backlash

A S.Korean celebrity came out in support of refugees and almost all the comments were against him

Quote:Quote:

1. [+2,242, -182] Support them with your own money on your own land in your own house

2. [+1,875, -149] As much as this is Jung Woo Sung, this is a touchy subject

3. [+1,702, -158] Just stay quiet..

4. [+242, -9] He's able to say this because he has enough money on his own that displaces him far enough from this issue. The rest of us are worried over employment, rising housing costs, rising cost of living, and are so close to dying because we don't have enough money for anything. If he wants so much support for refugees, he should go spend his own money on them.

5. [+197, -8] Sure, go house the refugees in your own home ㅡㅡ

6. [+147, -5] It's possible for people like Jung Woo Sung with millions to say stuff like this but the rest of us are too worried over making credit card bills, rent, and utilities that we can't even turn on the air conditioner. This is our reality. While he's out there making thousands off of one CF, why are we the ones who should be responsible for the refugees when we're barely making ends meet ourselves?

7. [+123, -4] Oh look, it's a top 10% rich man asking us to take in refugees. He knows that he has nothing to lose... he wants the image of being an activist while shoving the burden on the rest of us...

8. [+121, -6] I understand what situation the refugees are in but this hyung needs to stop. If he feels so bad, he should do it with his own money on his own land...

9. [+115, -3] The people who need to deal with these refugees in every day life are the rest of us. He needs to stop talking like he knows everything just because he does a few volunteer projects a couple times a year. He'll be out there driving his luxury car while the rest are face to face dealing with these refugees. If they cause problems or commit crimes, is he going to take responsibility for them too?

10. [+84, -1] Then go and buy 40-pyeong land in Jeju and let the refugees build homes and farm there. Please create your own refugee town for them.

11. [+74, -1] Hyung, go buy an island and use your own money to support them.

1. [+852, -28] It's so easy for the rich to act like righteous people

2. [+818, -31] Seems like he's so displaced from reality up there in his high security home... this is a threat to the rest of us, one that affects our daily lives...

3. [+756, -38] Okay... house them and feed them in your own home

4. [+65, -2] Stay quiet unless you're going to house and feed them in your own home. We know that it's our taxes that's going to be feeding them once we take them in. Once we let them in, there are going to be hundreds of thousands more demanding in as well.

5. [+59, -1] And will he be taking responsibility for the rest of us who will be affected by this?

6. [+55, -1] Hyung, you're rich. Use that money on buying real estate so you can care for these refugees yourselves.

Yea I know the forum is big on Korea and Japan but Ive never particularly cared for their cultures. They're kind of robotic workaholics with no soul. I respect their work ethic but they're basically aliens to me.

Wait, what?! You say North East Asians are basically aliens to you, yet you get triggered whenever Zelcorpion/Strangelight posts a statistic on muslims or race and IQ?

Yes not everything about them is amazing. I like their cuisine and electronics and whatnot but I wouldn't wanna live there. Working 15 hours a day is not my idea of a good life. There is a huge gap in mentality between a Euro - minded person and an Asian. I'm not talking about IQ, it's about life philosophy.

^^^ This has been on my mind for quite some time too, I really want to discover both and see their style in person Going to both Japan and Korea next month. In preparation, I've started reading this book "A Geek in Japan" and quite frankly so far it as has puzzled and surprised me both in negative and positive ways as I'm halfway into it. Japan was a closed country for centuries before 1867 (no immigration or emigration allowed), so no wonder it developed such a strong national unity and culture. Very patriarchal as well, but then you have the ridiculous suicide rates and they suicide for some reasons that to us it sounds batshit insane, and the extremely slow and bureaucratic decision-making process in Japanese companies and the whole 110% dedication allegiance to their companies. Once done reading, I'll share the summary in the Book thread. I watched quite a few Japanese cartoons (Captain Tsubasa) and TV series when I was very young and same with Korea, so always had me curious, can't wait to discover in person.

One thing I've noticed while looking for hotels/airbnbs in Korea/Japan. Seen many notes that you won't be allowed to use the Onsens or Pool if you have visible tattoos (or even allowed to check in some extreme cases) which doesn't impact me, but interesting nevertheless. Also, the 4-star hotel in heart of Seoul has a disclaimer that the pool, gym facilities, and sauna are for male guests only. No females allowed

Media and SJWs that call Western whities "racist" really need to travel to Asia some more and experience real racism.

I just laughed when I had to pay "big nose" price for the ferry in Thailand, but imagine having a "black man price" for things in Australia?
