I'm sure this varies by country and age you're targeting and what you can actually pass for, but generally speaking what's your rule if you're looking for quick hook ups, if you wanna maximize your chances?

I typically go 4-6 years higher than whatever the girl is if I know her age, but if I don't I say 28.

Just say your age man, avoid the feeling of "if I tell the truth then she's going to disqualify me." Keeping your mind right will do more for you than telling her you're her ideal age.

If she asks, make her guess and add a couple of years to whatever she says. But don't go up a decade (eg. if she says 38, don't go into the 40s).

If she doesn't ask, there isn't a reason to mention it.

Edit: letting her know your real age is also an option if it roughly corresponds to your appearance. In my case, they always guess around 10 years younger than my actual age. I usually go for women 15+ years younger than myself and find I get better results letting them choose my age.

Eastern Slavic women aren't bothered by age differences, but others tend to be at some level.

After age 30 I was generally thought to be younger but after any conversation about my background women could do the math (law school graduate, armed forces service, 5 years as an entrepreneur: you generally can't fit that into 25 years of life). Now I am in my 50s and if I let myself go I certainly look my age, but with proper grooming I can pass for younger, sometimes significantly younger.

When I was in my 20s and older broads started flirting with me and asking how old I was I would say "How old do you want me to be?". That rises eyebrows and got a few titters but since I have basically never dated older women I didn't follow through. Later when it was me flirting with younger women, the same line worked.

The other responce that I use in China is " I was born in the year of the [. . . ]. The Chinese zodiac works on a 12 year cycle rather than a 12 month cycle as with western sun signs. So they have 3 possible guesses: your actual birth year, 12 years younger, or 12 years older. None go older and roughly 2-in-3 go younger.

Some people stateside might know some of the Chinese birth years: '77 is Snake, '70 is Dog; '68 is Monkey; '84 is Rat. Most won't know them all and the play loses it's efficacy if you have to explain it.

Basically has a few outcomes...

1. They guess your age - You look your age, they were already talking to you so shit test passed.

2. They guess under your age - I generally just let them bank this with a "near enough" type response but this is the one you need to gauge the reaction, in western countries where the age difference is a social stigma they often want to guess younger so you want to encourage that, in other countries where being a bit older is an advantage you might even bump up towards your actual age on the correction as a kind of "Yeah, I look good for my age but I'm actually x" type ploy.

3. They guess over your age - Ouch, I've actually never copped this one (even though I personally think I look older than my age).

Realistically most girls are pretty terrible at picking a guys age, I tend to be able to pick peoples ages within a year or two after a bit of discussion but most girls are a solid 5 years off when I've seen it. If you get the above game flipped on you, do note that getting it right is not always the correct answer. If she's in the 18-22 age range, guess it correctly. If she's in the 22-28 age range you want to guess she is 22-23 (unless she's playing the "I'm super mature angle"), girls know that younger looks better. 28+ I can't really help as someone who actively avoids that bracket but most of them take themselves pretty seriously so just go on the young end of what is reasonable.

Ultimately though, your age is likely to be a bigger sticking point for you if you're making it an issue than a girl who has already gotten to the point of asking personal questions like that, she's essentially screening you at this point as a potential mate and you just need to not fuck it up.

They usually guess 3-5 years younger than I am but I don't remember being asked my age so often and so early into a pickup. You think this is a generational thing that the younger girls are shamed more about age differences now or just subconsciously they feel the age difference? Or perhaps I was less insecure about it because when I was 21 didn't see the issue talking to an 18 year old girl. I still don't even see an issue with it at 28 but I've met too many girls that make it a big deal to easily ignore it.

Whatever she guesses is fine with me. The more important issue is whether she is attracted to me. I just don't want to scare the squirrel too early if she is much younger than me. There is a lot of social propaganda now against older men hitting on younger women.

When she gets physical, then it does not matter, because she will make excuses for it all. Depends which country. UK my real age or 2 years older max. In Mexico girls in clubs guessed my age at 26 even so I went with 20-26 over there depending on the scenario (I'm really 19).
