Is Attorney General Sessions going to be replaced soon?
Until today, being money would have said "only after the November elections." But after the Trump-Fox interview today, and only hours ago, key GOP Senate players Grassley and Graham indicate that support is growing to get the AG replaced before -- Halelulah!

Jeff Sessions might have just lost his most important supporter: the Senate
Key senators signal that if Trump were to want a new attorney general — one with the power to fire Robert Mueller — they’d confirm him.

The Vox piece continues:
Quote:Quote:
Two key Republican senators have just signaled that they’re okay with President Donald Trump firing Attorney General Jeff Sessions — definitely after the midterms, and maybe even earlier.
In an interview with Steven T. Dennis of Bloomberg News published Thursday, current Senate Judiciary Committee Chair Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who is potentially positioned to take over the Judiciary Committee in 2019, each indicated the Senate’s schedule might have an opening for confirming a new attorney general.
“The president’s entitled to an attorney general he has faith in, somebody that’s qualified for the job, and I think there will come a time, sooner rather than later, where it will be time to have a new face and a fresh voice at the Department of Justice,” Graham said. “Clearly, Attorney General Sessions doesn’t have the confidence of the president.”
Firing Sessions would be the first step to shutting down special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the relationship between Trump’s 2016 presidential campaign and Russia, and Trump’s firing of FBI Director James Comey in May 2017.

Meanwhile, clueless

Trump cannot fire Asst. AG Rod Rose...only AG Sessions who in turn could fire the Asst. AG.

Are you sure about that? Do not all employees in the executive branch serve at the pleasure of the President?
Civil Service rules keep bureaucrats safe sinecures - with appeals, protections, hearings, due process" etc, arcana that I'm not privy to (others? please do dish) - for those loyal to the organization itself, like Asst AG Rosenstein.
Professional bureaucrats are part of the Administrative State (estimated to be unconstitutional by Columbia Law's Phillip Hamburger and GMU Law's F H Buckley and others)!
Remember the Obama era's long, long corruption of the VA? Congress had to enact a new law to enable the speedy firing of the incompetent working there - Trump now touts this at rallies.
Yes, the VA corruption has cost many lives by sheer incompetence!- it is that bad. And that's only one branch of the agencies of the US Administrative State, which are so numerous no on has a complete list of them to reference! (Sad...but this is true.)

Worth bringing up this book:
It does a good job of documenting all of the shenanigans of the deep state that are confirmed by the public record.
The big takeaway from the book is the Jeff Sessions began looking into recusing himself from the Russia probe within HOURS of being sworn into office.
Unless Q is actually the real deal, Jeff Sessions almost certainly knew that he was going to screw over Trump when Trump offered him the job.
Hannity at FNC says that Sessions "MUST HAVE" known that the Russian "collusion" story was a hoax from the outset, because Sessions was close enough to the Trump campaign to know the truth.
Given Jarrett's account, one has to wonder just what AG Jeff believes....
Speculation is that old Jeff has been kept in dark by the DOJ bureaucrats, as well as "guided" - or misguided - into the federal legal administrative complexities by careerists - which he's been away from for two decades (but he was State AG and federal prosecutor for roughly two decades before that).
Hannity states that Jeff - who is also close to Trump's age - MUST be aware of the double standards of "justice" prevailing under his DOJ aegis for nearly one and a half years.
I'm doubtful - Jeff having been based in DC for over 20 years - that this later claim by Hannity it true.
Opinions? Evidence, please?

I'm watching Hannity on FNC again. (I'm in high allergy season and missed much before.)
Guest Joey DiGenova - a former federal prosecutor in DC during the Reagan years and with his wife Victoria Toensing in DC as lawyers since then - explains that AG Sessions is "mind blind." He simply believes that - after 25 in the FBI have been demoted or resigned in this matter - that they could not have done what they have been (rightly in my view) accused of. And that Asst AG Rod Rosenstein encourages and agrees with this. (Joey cites unnamed sources in the know.)
Sessions is a prisoner to the DC swamp; and of the right-wing love and veneration for law enforcement, much as Rep. Louis Gohmert (sp?) has been accused of.
THERE. That's one explanation for the impasse, sure to be either forefront or background until November - unless Trump decides to act!

Don't know if Sessions is a witting accomplice or a helpless prisoner of the Swamp: but he must go. Timing is tricky though - probably Trump was hoping to get rid of him after the mid-terms, but if things are getting too tough with Mueller playing his best cards, he may have to act sooner.

Let me add some daily detail and a bit of background and primary quotation as related by investigative reporter Sarah Carter.
Senator Lindsey Graham starts off:
Quote:Quote:
“I think this president, like every other president, has the right to pick cabinet members that he feels comfortable with, as long as they are qualified and competent. To suggest that President Trump is stuck with one attorney general for his eight years, or four years, is just not right,” said Graham. “Jeff Sessions is a fine man. There will come a day, I believe, when President Trump will want somebody new. The working relationship is strained, that happens on occasion and I support the president’s right to have a cabinet of his choosing.”
Tensions reached a boiling point Thursday after Sessions shot back at the president’s comments earlier that morning in an interview with Fox and Friend’s Ainsley Earhardt, that he [Sessions] “never took control of the Justice Department.”
Session’s issued a statement Thursday afternoon, writing, “I took control of the Department of Justice the day I was sworn in, which is why we have had unprecedented success at effectuating the President’s agenda—one that protects the safety and security and rights of the American people, reduces violent crime, enforces our immigration laws, promotes economic growth, and advances religious liberty.”
And for background about Congressional frustrations of AG Sessions:
Quote:Quote:
Senior Congressional officials have complained that the Department of Justice has failed to appoint a special counsel to investigate the FBI’s handling of the Russia probe and the voluminous evidence that has been unearthed by congressional inquiries and investigations. Currently, the DOJ’s Inspector General (IG) Michael Horowitz is investigating the FBI’s role in the Trump-Russia investigation, but there is no indication that the report will be released anytime soon, according to sources. The DOJ has also appointed Utah U.S. Attorney John Huber to handle the criminal referrals regarding leak investigations and other criminal matters. This includes a referral from Horowitz regarding former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, who was fired after the IG discovered he had lied numerous times to investigators and leaked information to the media regarding an ongoing investigation.
“I can’t confirm investigations on specific issues,” said Isgur Flores. “We’ve discussed the number of referrals we’ve had and that the number has been larger than in previous years. But that’s about all we can say.”
Isgur Flores noted that “referrals come from the intelligence agencies. So, in theory, they could say what matters have been referred because they are the victims in these cases, but we can’t.”
A former senior FBI official said that there is enormous frustration among FBI special agents who were handling cases like the ongoing investigation into the Clinton Foundation, and the “unscrupulous” behavior of senior FBI and DOJ officials in the very partisan handling of the investigations into both the Trump campaign and Clinton server investigation. Sessions announced last November that the DOJ is conducting 27 leak investigations, including the leak to the Washington Post disclosing a private conversation between then National Security Advisor Michael Flynn and the former Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
“It seems that there is a pattern of investigations dying on the vine that is occurring for no other explainable reason but that senior executives both in the FBI and DOJ are choosing to allow them to die or forcing them to die,” said a former senior FBI official. “The people actually doing the investigating–the junior agents–aren’t the ones who can make the decisions to allow the case to die. It can only be done at the very senior levels at the FBI. AKA: the seventh floor.”

It would be great if President Trump and AG Sessions were covertly playing a game with the media and opposition by pretending to be at odds. The climax would be that Sessions would call a special press conference, hinting that he was going to resign and drop some "truth bombs" on Trump. All the big name media shills would show up. Then, at the conference he announces that the DoJ is executing simultaneous arrests of Hillary Clinton, Huma Aberdeen, Susan Rice, and several others. Unfortunately, I don't think that's what's happening.
