Ontario students will be taught the old sex-education curriculum — which predates same-sex marriage, Google, and social media — when they return to school in September, says Education Minister Lisa Thompson.

Following on Premier Doug Ford’s campaign pledge to scrap the updated lesson plans introduced in 2015, Thompson said the Progressive Conservative government would soon begin deciding how to revamp them in conjunction with parents.

“The sex-ed component is going to be reverted back to the manner in which it was prior to the changes that were introduced by the Liberal government,” she told reporters on Wednesday.

That means teaching the 1998 curriculum instead of the modernized one, which was opposed by social conservatives and covers subject matter like same-sex relationships, gender identity, cyberbullying, and the dangers of sexting.

“We’re going to be moving very swiftly with our consultations and I will be sharing with your our process in the weeks to come,” said Thompson, promising the Tories would be “respecting parents” when a new curriculum is developed, possibly in time for the 2019-20 school year.

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath warned the new government is making a mistake and that children will pay the price.

Thousands of parents were consulted on sex-ed curriculum, Premier Kathleen Wynne says

“Going backwards in terms of keeping our kids safe and giving them the information they need to stay safe is not the right direction,” said Horwath.

“We worked hard to make sure that everyone in Ontario feels that they are respected, that they are able to be who they are, able to have opportunity, able to be free of violence and hate. And anything that starts to erode people’s ability to be themselves and be respected in this province is problematic.”

But social conservatives, instrumental in Ford winning the March 10 Tory leadership contest, were thrilled.

“We are very happy to see the radical sex curriculum repealed,” Jim Hughes, national president of the Campaign Life Coalition, which opposes abortion rights.

Hughes expressed hope that the “ideological agenda” of former Liberal premier Kathleen Wynne, an openly gay first minister, would be “scrapped completely.”

Wynne’s government updated the curriculum three years ago with an eye toward keeping children safe from abuse by educating them.

Proper names for body parts and genitals are taught in Grade 1, which is a change child-abuse investigators had long urged. The concept of same-sex relationships is introduced in Grade 3. In Grade 4 students learn about online safety as well as puberty.

In Grade 6, they learn what masturbation is as well as healthy relationships and consent. In Grade 7, students are warned about the risks of “sexting” and are taught about sexually transmitted diseases and informed about oral and anal sex.

Definitely!! People outside of the country don't know that the ex-premier (aka governor) of the province of Ontario is a lesbian who pushed social justice and diversity mantra harder than Turdeau himself.

There are some whiners about the change, but in the end of the day the curriculum was fully designed by the most radical 5% of the population >> LGBT types who are basically activist groups were hired to consult on the new curriculum. This would be like if the extreme religious 5% of the population designed the curriculum. How would the LGBT feel about that.

Its just fully out of step with anything mainstream so it caused a strong enough backlash. Some of the highlights:

- Age 8: Gender as a social construct, Homosexuality
-Age 12: Oral and Anal
- Age 13: Make a plan about your sexual activity!! haha just found this one, kind of funny. I would have been writing "bang chicks", but I needed to learn game first...

In fairness there was some stuff about texting and internet porn, these are probably things that kids could be taught, but who needs a textbook. Anyway, not sure whats going to happen with this generation... they ll all be on tinder when they are 16 so its a brave new world.

The only thing I remember about my sex ed lessons as a young teenager was when my gym teacher, who was around 50 at the time told us how to get rid of crabs:

“If you get crabs, find a spoon and a lighter, shave off one side of your pubes, then light the hairy side on fire and when the crabs run out, whack em with a spoon”!

He used to also chase female students around with his dentures, which he had because he got in so many hockey fights.

You forgot the best one: Grade 8: Learn about all 6 gender identities. Yes, there are 6. I'm sure that wasn't planned on being expanded.

Truthfully though, there are still issues with the old system primarily teaching "abstinence only" education for safe sex.

My big issue when it comes to the whole gender debate is, "At what age can a child determine their "gender identity", who they are attracted to, etc etc." Because that is just a step away from "consent".

Doug Ford replaces sex-ed curriculum with old copy of Playboy found in woods:

“Now kids can learn about the bird and the bees the same way I did – from a musty magazine full of stacked babes holding a hat in front of their vaginas,” explained Ford in a press conference.

“We won’t have to worry about our kids learning about dangerous concepts like ‘consent’ and ‘not being ashamed of masturbation’ from ol’ Heff. God rest his soul,” Ford added, wiping away a tear.

Instead of learning to understand same sex relationships or cyber bullying, students will now be quizzed on astrological signs, likes and dislikes, as well as a wide range of ladies’ pubic grooming options.

In response, Ontario’s socially conservative community cheered Ford’s unilateral move. “This abandoned Playboy announcement represents a victory for real Ontarians,” said anti-gay preacher Charles McVety. “I’m just happy that parents will once again have a say in what information is hidden from their children, as well as the children of other Ontarians who actually supported the new curriculum by a large majority.”

The stack of vintage Playboys, featuring late 80’s playmates such as Kymberly Paige and Tawnni Cable, will be placed in a used Loblaws grocery bag and kept in a wooded area for students to discover, peruse, and leave behind for the next group of age inappropriate children.

Once the “Old Wet Playboys” curriculum is in place, plans are underway to consult Ontario’s socially conservative parents on ways to regress sex education back even further.

“We can’t just teach students anything, like the proper names for their naughty parts,” explained Sam Oosterhoff, Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Education. Oosterhoff, who was homeschooled, explained his views on sex ed. “These soggy Playboys are a good step backwards, but it’s important that children learn the sex ed I did – namely that a daddy lies down on top of a his wife, and then a stork comes and puts a baby in her tummy.”

Other sex ed curriculums considered but ultimately rejected by the government included showing students episodes of Red Shoe Diaries and telling hundreds of thousands of students to just ask the cool kid who hangs out in the locker room and brags about all the girls he has fingered.

Back at Queen’s Park, Premier Ford defended his proposed curriculum, noting that he was only instituting dangerous sexual education policies for the articles.

The other day while driving I put on a Toronto news radio station to hear the traffic while driving. Some teachers were protesting and saying that they will not change the curriculum and defy the orders. They say it's homophobic etc etc that going back 20 years is wrong that get this "they know best"!!!! WTF!?!?!?

These delirious teachers think they are above the law. yet teachers who didn't want to teach the new curriculum before were in guessing.... blackballed, singled out or told either comply or else. These leftist teachers who "know best" think that they can defy yet others who defy are (pick any insult or name in the book).
