Gardening is the most relaxing and satisfying hobby of them all. Because day by day you see your hard work grow into a beautiful artwork. That is why I always find time for my love for gardening.
So, I know quite a few things about gardening than most guys. And if you want help with it I am more than happy to share my ways to create a beautiful garden.
Here's how you can create your own lawn garden...
What You Want: Get an idea of how you want your garden to look like. Do you want it to be a flower garden or a vegetable garden? In my opinion flower garden always looks the best on the lawn. But, it is completely up to you. You can create a mini farm on your lawn, it will look adorable.
Where You Want it: I know the thread is about lawn gardening but you can't just place your garden in the middle of the way, can you? That is why choosing a place with a good viewpoint is also important. Plus you need to make sure that your plants get plenty of sunlight and space to breath.
Know Your Plants: Before starting anything else, get an idea about the plants. If you are planning to make it a flower garden, research well enough about the needs of that plant. Will your ground be nurturing enough for it to grow or is the weather in your environment being healthy for that plant? Plan everything from A to Z.
Clean The Area: It is needless to say that you cannot create a beautiful thing without proper care. So, clean the area you choose for gardening. Clean out all the sod and prepare the ground well-enough to grab onto those plants.
Repair The Soil: You can have a soil test done to know the exact nature of it. If your soil needs to boost there are many ways to do that. You can Add a 2- to 3-inch layer of compost, decayed leaves, dry grass clippings, or old manure. Keep your organic matter on the surface, it will naturally go underneath the surface.
Learn When to Dig: You cannot just go dig the ground and plant your trees there. Your soil will need to have the capacity to take hold on to the plant. If you have too moist or too dry soil it can ruin your plants. The soil should be moist enough before applying the organic matter. Use a spading fork to mix the organic matter on the ground and turn 8 to 12 inches of soil. You should turn the soil once a year before spring if you have annual flowers or a vegetable garden.
Plant The Seeds: Now, there is a risk called frost in the gardening world. If you are planning to start your gardening in winter, don’t because your plants can get frosted underground. Wait until the risk of frosting is gone. You need to dig 3 times deeper than the diameter of the seed. But some seeds require light for the germination, you can check the direction on the package.
Water: Watering is also a delicate task to take off. Water slowly and deeply so that your soil gets moist enough for the roots. You don’t need to water regularly but that depends on the humidity of the climate and how often it rains. Don’t overdo it.
Mulch: Mulch is very important when it comes to gardening, this will make sure that your garden doesn’t grow weeds. You will have to cover the soil with a couple of inches mulch and choose mulch according to your plants.
Take Care: Now, comes the tricky part. Planting those plants were the easy part, now you have to maintain it. A few minute’s care can turn into a full day’s job, depending on your plants. If you have sprout or herb garden than you don’t need to worry that much. But for a vegetable garden then you have a job at hand.
These seem like a lot of tasks but once you have stated it becomes easier, trust me. Just try this and keep me updated.
Am I missing something? Feel free to tell me. So, what you think of these methods? Are there any gardeners here?
