So this morning I woke up early by an annoying grasshopper near my bed. A few days ago same crap happened with a few carpenter ants and I usually have to take them all out (I got pretty much all kinds of creepy insects living here that you could imagine!). Which led me to this idea...

As a kid I used to collect different insects and watch fascinated while they were fighting each other.

Sometimes you'd have fights like these with a few small ants vs. another big insect.



Or 1 on 1 caelifera fighting. They look like this:



So I thought of perhaps bringing this online as a hobby and side-hustle while at the same time get to know a bit more about these insects. Kind of like a real life Pokemon show with various type of insects.

I could maybe set up a Youtube account and start live streaming the fights with my HD camera and provide commentary.
Thought it could be fun too if people who wanted could bet on the fights and which insect that will win or die, but I'm not exactly sure yet how I could go about it? Maybe with some type of crypto currency and use of smart contracts it could be possible...

And to make it a big more interesting I could make some background research about the insects for you before the fights and have competitions with weight belts UFC style.

Anyway, you think this could be of any interest?

Salvadore, insect fighting really only appeals to two types of people. Bored poor people with lack of television and internet like you see on some Indonesian islands OR hardcore gamblers that will legit gamble on any type of fight or race.

I sleep with the window slightly open for better air.

I couldn't find any live stream shows with betting on there.

SEA has beetle fighting you can gamble on. Your idea is super old at best and there are tons of insect vs spiders style videos on YouTube.

I would not feel comfortable to let two innocent insects fight to the death for sports and amusement.

But I would feel comfortable if humans did it willingly for money. I hope that they legalize it one day.

There was a guy in one of my video game groupchats(yes I'm a nerd) who posted pics of his champion spider. Apparently people breed and battle spiders, so there is probably a niche market for this kind of thing.

Of course. There are street fights on Youtube as well but if you were to organize a Fight Club or gladiator games where you had a live stream online and people were able to make bets and win money, you'll provide entertainment that I think a lot of people would watch (sure, a lot of people would not watch it too but that's beside the point).

People are already doing this over stupid computer games where fictional characters in a game compete. So why not with insects where it's real life and death?

Either way I think I'll give it a shot later regardless and if I doesn't go well in the beginning I can just give it up.
