Anyone else here feel bogged down by Seasonal Affective Disorder?

For those of us that are somewhat constrained for the time being to colder climates (ie. in the USA areas such as the Midwest or Northeast, parts of Canada ie. Toronto, Montreal, and other cold, gloomy, wintry locales)....anyone get bogged down by this phenomenon this time of year? I swear I think it gets me down a bit. Not a day passes by that I wish I could transplant myself to Miami Beach or some fun, sunny locale in the globe until winter is over.

also helpful: no(t too much) drugs, no(t too much) alcohol and enough sleep

and when you can, go outside in nature

Excellent tips. I have been trying to keep my exercise regiment up to speed (been doing a relatively good job). I need to make sure not to forget to take my Vitamin D supplements. Thank you for the great feedback.

UV Light Therapy for "SAD" is also recommended. (SEE https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Light_therapy)(And if all else fails, certain faster acting SSRIs can be used. No need to suffer...long!

Snow is fun when you’re a little kid. As soon as you have to clean a car off to get to work or school that changes. Best cure is to GTFO.

I think that in winter this is normal. As it was said, gym exercise and supplements of D vitamins are the way to go to mitigate it. I plan as well short monthly trips in warm countries in Winter to pick up a bit of sun.

This was brutal for me this year. I caught myself medicating it with massive amounts of caffeine and had to work my way back down from that twice. It feels like the most natural thing in the world to sit around drinking hot coffee when it's -5 outside, but it stops working. This is the first year I didn't hit the desert or the islands at all, and it already felt like death by December.

Omega-3s seemed to help with the lethargy. Getting up before my alarm, feeling like exercising, etc.

Vitamin D, which I started later, seemed to mainly help with the grouchy/stressed feelings, in conjunction with cutting way back on caffeine.

I've also been taking a greens supplement, Amazing Grass. I have no idea if it matters for seasonal issues, but I think it helps round out my nutrition overall.

Hidey-ho, RVFerinos!
