I would have been excited as fuck to work for $15 an hour as kid.

I know of plenty of people back in my home town in their 20s who would be thrilled to make $15/hr now. That's decent money in cheap areas.

My experience as well. I have many old friends who never left my home town and they would be happy or are happy with those wages.

My dad will sometimes get on a kick and talk about jobs he sees in the newspaper. Paying 12$ an hour and asking for some sort of a degree and 2+years experience.

Cost of living matters of course but one can sometimes stick around in their parents house or room up with friends while they save to get themselves ahead... assuming they aren't out buying stupid shit or smoking it away.

Trump needs to hold firm until February, then he'll get whatever he wants. Food stamps are only funded for a month at a time, there won't be benefits on Feb 1st. We could honestly see cities like Detroit burn to the ground if this happens.

Trump better be prepared to use the Presidential veto. The Establishment Recucklicans in Congress are putting out tells they are ready to collapse after only 3 days.

I predict the first deal they come up with will be very, very bad.

Nah, it looks like Dems caved. McConnell promised they would take up the immigration stuff right away and Dems agreed to end the shutdown. Dems screwed themselves. haha

^ Strategically the Democrats don't appear to have lost much and simply deferred the next shutdown to Feb., but their base is acting like it's the end of time.

I'm enjoying it, actually.

I think it made Dems look bad.

It isn't so much a big deal with their base... but the independents may see it as a pretty messed up thing to do.

They essentially forced a shutdown only to cave in days later and not get a damn thing they originally wanted. It was all for nothing.

Putting illegals over America was a bad thing to do and could cost them.

This whole spite Trump no matter what is back firing now since tax cuts.

Illegal aliens charged into pro-amnesty Sen. Thom Tillis’ (R-NC) Senate office on Capitol Hill demanding an immediate amnesty for all 12 to 30 million illegal aliens living in the United States, hurling insults in the process.

As the group of illegal aliens and open borders activists — with the George Soros-funded group “United We Dream” — stormed Tillis’ office demanding amnesty, one illegal alien from North Carolina shouted, “F*ck this conservative! F*ck this person!”

The illegal alien activist shouted:

I see no leadership in this office. This office is supposed to protect me. This office is supposed to make me feel like home.

I’ve already talked to Thom Tillis in person and he looked me in my face and told me that we have until March 5. He told me to my face that undocumented youth are not immigrants, are not priority. I’m not a priority.

F*ck this conservative! F*ck this person!

Tillis is one of the most pro-open borders Senators in Congress, authoring the SUCCEED Act this year with Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) which would give amnesty to at least 2.5 million eligible illegal aliens in the country, as Breitbart News reported.

Tillis is a close ally to the big business lobby and U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which supports expansive amnesty for illegal aliens and increase legal immigration to the U.S. in order to drive down wages for American workers and make labor costs cheaper for employers.

Previously, Tillis has continuously said he wants more multinational companies in the U.S. to hire cheaper, imported foreign workers for the blue-collar and white-collar job industries. Before being elected in 2006, Tillis worked at IBM, one of the largest outsourcers of American jobs, now employing more workers in India than the U.S.

We don't need to put up with that kind of negative attitude and entitlements from illegal immigrants. They don't deserve special treatment. Deport their lazy asses.

Over at American University in Washington DC, someone had a political opinion. The opinion was that the US should not have illegal residents.

So, they posted this thought in flyers they posted around campus. Campuses have scads of flyers, announcing everything from wild parties to drag queen shows to sex toy sales.

And yet, somehow, NBC Washington thinks that only the posters that come out against illegal activity are newsworthy.

Why is this opinion and only this opinion considered verboten in Medialand? In a sane world, wouldn't the other side (people who supported illegal activity) be the story?

This is one of the many ways the media creates its own reality to dupe people into believing certain opinions. They don't come out and say what's right and wrong directly. They do it by what they choose to cover and what they leave out.

We really need to do a Media Bias Thread on here, where people can step back and discuss the context in which these stories are written. I still don't get how posting flyers on a college campus is a story.

One the things most irritating about these "dreamers" is their entitlement and claim that they have a "right" to citizenship. No, they have a right to exactly nothing but a hearing and deportation. Anything they get in a deal is a gift of generosity from the American people. I see no moral requirement to give them anything. It's their parents fault, unfortunately, that they are in a bad situation, but they aren't "owed" anything.

If only you knew how bad things really are.

Wait so a bunch of illegal aliens invaded the offices of the United States Congress and didn't get deported? If I worked in that office I would have called ICE so fast...

If there was any question in your minds as to whether or not these are “good” people with easily assimilated values and higher intellegence that contributed to the US....

Couple of things I found funny about the article...1) saying “an illegal alien from North Carolina”. Wrong and illegal alien squatting in NC

2) Notice this pro amnesty globalist traitor used to work for IBM and it hires more Indians than Americans.

IBM is still a company? I didn’t think they had any market share left.

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump said he will support a pathway to citizenship for 1.8 million undocumented immigrants who came to the U.S. as children, according to a telephone briefing by the White House for Republican congressional staff members. His remarks could move negotiations on an immigration deal that is stalled in Congress.

The call, hosted by White House adviser Stephen Miller, outlined the demands for any deal on DACA, which includes a $25 billion "trust fund" for a border wall, an end to family reunification, also called "chain migration" by conservatives, and an end to the diversity visa lottery.

A path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants known as Dreamers, however, is a significant concession for Democrats, most of whom say they will not support any deal that does not provide for citizenship.

A bipartisan proposal by Sens. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., and Dick Durbin, D-Ill., also includes a path to citizenship for Dreamers.

Trump told reporters Wednesday night before leaving for the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, that he'd support legalization that would "morph" into citizenship.

Miller also discussed the White House's desire for increased deportations at the border, but he said it is not something that will be part of the president's demands.

I'll vouch that IBM is just like that in the States. And they were in EMEA back in 2003.

It's shit like this that pisses me off

https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/local/Upward...74193.html

As fast as North Texas is growing, it might surprise you to know that the growth comes in spite of a significant skilled labor shortage in the local construction industry.

Construction companies in Dallas-Fort Worth report that they have between 10,000 to 20,000 jobs that are currently unfilled, according to the Dallas Builders Association.

DBA president Michael Turner, who runs Classic Urban Homes, said it takes his crew eight to nine months to finish a home when it used to only take about six months. That delay translates into a higher cost for the customer.

“What we’re strapped with is during the recession we lost about 50 percent of the labor force and they just really haven’t come back,” he said. “So we are trying to do more work with half as much workforce as what we had previously.”

Due to the lack of qualified workers, Turner said he and other employers must pay more to retain the good workers they do have. For example, a qualified bricklayer recently would fetch about $10 per hour. Today, Turner pays his bricklayers $18 to $19 per hour.

A survey of the construction industry in Texas from 2013 revealed that nearly 40 percent of construction workers were foreigners, with many of those people being Mexicans.

DBA executive director Phil Crone went to the White House recently to meet with representatives of the Trump Administration, along with other members of the home building industry to make sure Washington is aware of what’s at stake in Dallas-Fort Worth. Crone noted there is a lot of disconnect between support for the President’s talk of a border wall with Mexico and the reality of the modern construction industry.

“A lot of this misunderstanding has been created by the rhetoric of the president, and there has been a lot of focus on enforcement action and people who are here and who may need to not be here,” he said. “But the vast majority of the people that are working on the job site are just well-meaning people, they have a great work ethic [and] we need them to get the job done here.”

Crone does praise the President’s proposal to expand the H-2B guest worker visa program that currently allows 66,000 non-agricultural workers from foreign countries to work in the United States. President Trump’s budget proposal would double that number.

“I think it’s going to take a long time before [the worker shortage situation] gets better around here,” he said. “If we continue to see the demand that we are seeing in the DFW area, more than 100,000 jobs coming in, 20,000 workers short. That [will take] a long time to bridge that gap.”

What's that? I didn't hear you....Oh! You're saying that construction jobs are now SKILLED labor? Uh huh, and that we need to cut those undocumented immigrants some slack so they can get those....SKILLED jobs? Weird, I thought the undocumented immigrants were taking UNSKILLED jobs that Americans did not want.

And what else was that? Oh! Wages are going up for these jobs? And you're telling me that's bad? Hell, maybe it'll go up enough to where LEGAL citizens will start taking these jobs!

But as much as this pisses me off it shows me that Trump is indeed Making America Great Again.

I never liked the terms "skilled" and "unskilled" labor. As if some 300 lb black woman who works at the DMV is a "skilled professional" but a construction worker isn't.

For the record, I worked as a line cook in professional kitchens and even though it isn't well-paid, it is one of those jobs where you definitely need skills. You better be fast, accurate, and on top of your shit. Very few people could actually do it, I'd wager.

Democrats introduce bill to give citizenships to DACA recipients.
Although less than a quarter of current DACA recipients can apply, I have been hearing this thing for a long time, and it can possibly happen in the near future.

We can argue what is "good" or what is "bad" and how we FEEL about such touchy topics like immigration...

At the end of the day, decisions are going to be made, the agenda is to move forward with the immigrants..
