Request Network (REQ)

This is supposed to be the Paypal killer. It's been getting a lot of hype and has an enthusiastic community. Since Paypal shut me down, I'm very interested in a decentralized payment option.

Reddit community over 20,000 strong: https://www.reddit.com/r/RequestNetwork/

It also has received support from Y Combinator. What do you think?

IMO it's a decent buy (as far as alt coins go) right now, since :

- Its market cap is still low compared to the other major players, at 632M (https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/request-network/). This means it has room to grow, and potentially undervalued. Its not enough for the coin to be useful, it has to be useful such that it's value will grow in the future to account for its utility.

- Based on ETH, which gives some credibility since ETH has been quite successful.

- Obvious demand for a decentralised payments network in the crypto space.

- Support from YCombinator. I'm neutral on this, as they are reputable but a VC firm by its nature funds many early stage startups, many of which fail completely, and a few exceed expectations and become wildly successful. If another major player came out in support for this, that'd give more credibility.

There's a lot of noise right now in the alt space, but I think long term REQ has the potential to be useful and rise in value.

I like this token and have been holding since early Dec. Some forum members I believe were in at the ICO price or close.

Price has skyrocketed in the last month. Unless a black swan event occurs or a terrible bear market that plunges crypto, I'm planning on holding for 2018.

I like the team and project, they are transparent and give bi-weekly updates. They've hit or been ahead of their deadlines on their road-map. The token has great use cases, and there's a lot of hype surrounding it.

Y-Combinator support is a plus in my eyes. It doesn't guarantee that they will be successful, but it does increase their chances. From what I hear the people in companies that come from Y-Combinator tend to stick together like Ivy League grads. This helps with networking and partnerships by running in the same circle.

This is speculation, but one thing to research is the GDAX/Coinbase framework for listing new tokens. There was a line in there that caught my eye.

"This technology is accessible to use by anyone with a smartphone or access to the internet. It contributes to the broader mission of building the on-ramps to Finance 2.0."

Here's NewMeta responding to my post about the possibilities of REQ getting on Coinbase.

Just a guess at this point, but he makes solid points.

Have been in REQ since ICO and accumulated more when it went below. I am very very bullish on this project for the reasons described above.

Disclosure: I hold a significant portion of my portfolio in REQ, and plan to hodl through this year.

I hold some REQ and will do so for 2018 at least. I hate PayPal so much I hope this torpedoes it.

Good stuff bro. I remember speaking about the ICO about you a couple months back. I loaded up on Request during the crowdsale. I maxed out three straight days and still bought more on the exchanges.

I'd be more interested if there were demand for decentralized payments using a crypto network outside the crypto space. That is: people who currently want to make (legal) exchanges using fiat but for some reason find the existing infrastructure for doing so inadequate.

Basically, what it tells me is that at least they think what they're doing has potential to be a legitimate technological innovation, and it's not just 100% smoke and mirrors cash grab.

That explains the lambo profile. God damn!

It is possible the FUD and general market down trend made people forget they have a biweekly update this friday.

Problem is the team recently moved to Singapore and haven't been working so I dont expect a good update (update will be about the office move and potentially more meetings with Kyber who are also in SG). In addition to this their github activity is very poor, only 1 dev is making commits and it is very sporadically, so yeah not much progress this first half of the month i think.

Not too concerned about the recent downward movement, the team have had some of the best communication in the crypto space and have been hitting regular milestones. Great time to buy-in.

Bought more this morning at 0.0005, think I'll be pretty happy with that in the next few weeks. REQ had a massive, irrational pump very recently, to above 0.001 on the eth ratio and now I've got the feeling it's oversold.

Honestly I'll probably be up by a good amount in just the next two days, we've got a project update coming up this friday so that should spike people's awareness on just how undervalued it currently is.

This token has the best team among altcoins. These guys are real professionals and know what they are doing. Some recent updates:

- Partnership with PwC-France. This is huge because one of their goals was to integrate with accounting profession and eliminate some of the most important aspects of audit of revenue/expenditure cycles.

- Launch of their mainnet after an extensive audit and bug bounty program on March 30.

- Partnerships with decentralized exchanges like Kyber Network and various small merchants/websites.

- Coinbase announced its support for ERC-20 tokens and the likelihood of REQ being listed is quite high if we take into account that both have Y-Combinator as a backer.

Nobody has mentioned in this thread that REQ is a deflationary token. All used REQ are burned so hodling is a winning strategy if this thing goes mainstream.

Current price is perfect for entry cause it's 85% down from ATH.
