Autonomous Killing Drones and Weapons: "Slaughterbots"

A drone swarm still needs to communicate between themselves, total AI control or not, so just blast full spectrum radio noise to disrupt the communication of the swarm and they either don't do shit or revert to some sort default program.

If she came back later to accuse 'us' of rape, I'll just blame it on the robot and tell the jury it threatened to melt my brain if I didn't comply with its query of robotic/human sexual relations.

By humanoid I thought of being bipedal. Hand held weapons coupled with other heavier pieces of course.

I've had a few run ins with drones while fishing.

Fish finders can see submarines sometimes if they are set properly and powerful enough. We were way out the last time it happened. A big block will appear and disappear on your screen. A few minutes later these two little drones were up in the sky. Probably standard procedure when they detect sonar. But still scary to see when you're so far out.

And they can make drones virtually invisible by covering it in a sheet that reflects its surroundings. This invisibility research is progressing quickly.

Here's an example of the research: EXTREMELY THIN DIELECTRIC METASURFACE FOR CARPET CLOAKING

That's scary stuff. The sub alone on the sonar is bad.

Time for a build your own EMP datasheet?

I recall reading about how to construct an EMP device many years ago in Popular Mechanics. I couldn't find the original article, but it is referenced and summarized here.

Like it or not, this is where the technology is going, and if it gets there without a change in our governing ethos then there will be no meaningful guerrilla resistance. Nobody is EMPing or wide-frequency jamming their way to victory. Scenarios like the one posed in Terminator rely on ignoring the numerous reasons that the human resistance would never have a chance.

This century will be all or nothing. A reinstatement of fundamental Western principles or a never-ending tyranny over the entire planet.

If the elites win then they will undertake their admitted goal of eradicating 90 percent of the global population, and along the way they'll be sure to screen out the capacity for rebellion down to a genetic level.

I'm calling bullshit. So you are saying that your fishfinder detected a military submarine? And that submarine suddenly realised it was detected by your fishfinder and went into stealth mode (disappeared from your screen...sort of like a Klingon invisibility cloak).

Oh yeah, I'm going out on my fishing boat to find some military subs. Just gotta get the settings right and then I'll see them.

And then...there were two drones in the sky...woah

They will simply create directional EMP or wide-spread lasers that fry electronics in a given airspace, like a microwave.

These killbots will be used in military arenas before anything else. The use of the tech in civilian areas will depend on other things.

I don't find the tech that concerning in and of itself so much as how it gets sold to the public and implemented on a wide scale.

If you hear any rumblings about "preventative measures" or "preemptive crime" and then a push for widespread drone adoption in the interest of the public welfare, it's time to get real scared.

At least with nukes and bioweapons there's the element of mutually assured destruction.

But drones can be used anonymously, surreptitiously, and with great precision - especially if wielded by men with guns and a lot of tax dollars to blow.

On a side note, it would be cool to see them in action in urban combat scenarios like in Afghanistan assisting our buys in the eradication of ISIS scum.

^^^ simple idea that I would think would work in theory but couldn't the drones just wait for the smoke to clear? I mean if you leave the smoke they'd be back on target right? This truly is some scary stuff.

By the time the smoke clears, you will be wearing a balaclava and will have ditched your jacket.

How will the flying quadcopter sniper find you?

During the peeping-tom drone time, there were "guns" marketed to shoot down drones with mircowaves or something.

This. Yeah, would totally dick up the facial recognition, no doubt. But in effectiveness? Not even practical. Who carries an HC Smoke grenade with them at all times? No one really. No one actually. If the threat was legit and you felt the need to carry one, I agree with you, it would work, if the robots didn't have thermal imaging. Kind of hard to think bots of this caliber would NOT have thermal, but yeah... Good call.

The other things, though, you'd have vocal recognition prolly, that would fuck up your plan. Maybe you just remain silent and cover your features with a cloud of smoke, but then you've marked your position for regular authorities who'll still arrest you. Or, in a war environment, you've still marked your presence for a circling drone or pilot over the battlefield. Kind of narrows it down, depending on the circumstances. Then you'd have to assume that the facial recognition would be hampered by smoke. What does the robot use for that? Could be anything... Visual recognition by a normal camera? Thermal recognition of your facial features? Sound recognition of your voice or a problematic sound delivered by video, such as in laser audio intercepts? You know, there's a laser microphone. How do you think it records sounds? It does it by measuring the micro-vibrations of objects in the room that react to the sound being produced. Then it registers them and makes a sound out of what was heard.

This is the kind of mole-hole no contributor wants to go down, but it is significant.

What is dumfounding is the total lack of technologically advanced people that don't understand these things. It's out there, people. Look it up..

Aesop's Fables

The Frog and the Ox

Once upon a time, a grand and wonderful ox was on his daily stroll, when he was noticed by a small ugly haggardly frog. The frog was too impressed with the great ox, impressed to the point of envy.

"Look at this magnificent ox!" he called to all his friends, "He's such a grand size for an animal, but he's no greater than I am if I tried." The frog started huffing and puffing and swelled his body from his normal size.

"Am I as large as the wonderful ox?" he asked his friends.
"No, no, not near as grand as the ox," they replied.

So, the frog puffed his body up more and more, trying to reach the size of the ox. "How about now? Am I as grand as the ox ?" asked the frog.

"No, no. But please, don't try anymore," pleaded his friends.

But the frog would not listen and continued to huff and puff and swell and swell, larger and larger until he finally burst.

Fables speak the truth. Here's one I particularly like...The Gnat and the Bull.

A Gnat settled on a Bull. Before the Gnat left he asked the Bull if he could go. The Bull did not care as he had not even noticed the Gnat had come.

Sure, by reflecting off vibrating glass windows. The standard counter-measure is to have (perennial) trees near all the windows, so that there is no line of sight to any window.
