Mother and daughter get married; convicted in court - why is this illegal?

Based on the rationale behind the gay marriage movement, there is no reason why this marriage should remain illegal. Arguments about preventing birth defects via consanguinity are moot - there are two females involved and no chance off offspring.

DUNCAN, Okla. (AP) — An Oklahoma woman who married her biological mother has pleaded guilty to incest. Court records show 26-year-old Misty Spann of Duncan pleaded guilty Tuesday in Stephens County District Court. Under the deal, she was sentenced to 10 years of probation.

Her mother, 44-year-old Patricia Spann, has pleaded not guilty to incest.
Prosecutors say the two married in 2016. Court records show the marriage was annulled last month at the request of Misty Spann on the grounds of fraud and illegality.

Patricia Spann has said she thought the marriage was legal because she had lost custody of her daughter and two sons years ago and isn't listed on their birth certificates.

Prosecutors say Patricia Spann also married one of her sons. That marriage was annulled in 2010.

I'm not advocating for this kind of marriage or incest of any persuasion, but there's no logical reason why this marriage should be annulled much less prosecuted with a criminal conviction and a ten year probation sentence. Add to the fact it involves two women and there's got to be some form of misogyny at work here - so where's the outcry from the LGBT crowd?

C'mon, libs - if we're going to go all the way to the bottom, then dammit, bring us to the bottom already!

What do these people do for work? OTOH, I can imagine the elation of employers who found this out on doing their due diligence on a new hire.

I agree. If "two consenting adults" are allowed to marry, who is the state to pick and choose which is good and which is bad when it comes to those marriages?

By legalizing gay marriage, the precedent has been set that it's illegal for the state to judge right or wrong in these matters. So the very idea of "incest" being wrong is as antiquated as the idea of homosexual love being immoral.

By saying gay marriage is OK but this isn't, people are either 1). Pandering to the LGBT crowd or 2). Displaying situational ethics and "cafeteria morality."

These two should instead have a "civil union," then demand the local bakeries honor them with wedding-type cakes.

YES - that's what I'm talking about! Get some lawyer to take the retarded leftist agenda, repackage it and shove it right back into their illogical faces. Where's the ACLU on this one?

Sure, it wouldn't exactly reverse the downward slide of western civilization, but at least they'd be called out for their hypocrisy, in public.

In 5 to 10 years the next outcry from the LGBTLMNOP movement will be for legalized incest, then pedophilia will be next. OP is 100% that under the left's distorted ideology this should be fine - but leftists aren't exactly known for coherent thought.

What's odd is the left seems to have fewer problems with pedophilia than incest. Not sure there is an equivalent group to NAMBLA for relationships like the one in this story.

Based on this logic polygamy is perfectly kosher (ha!) as well. You're forgetting however, that libtards think that logic is rape.
They do what is expedient, not what is consistent or right.

I am afraid that women appreciate cruelty, downright cruelty, more than anything else. They have wonderfully primitive instincts. We have emancipated them, but they remain slaves looking for their masters all the same. They love being dominated.

I smell a possible scam. She married her son and then she tried to marry her daughter, I doubt she was physically attracted to both.

It could be that weird thing when single mothers or widows fear the empty nest so they ensure that suitors to the children are kept well away.
