The Floribama Shore (MTV's new "Shore" show)

I wanted to search to see if there was just some kind of "Decline of MTV" thread to add this to... but you can't search for less then 4 letters on here.

We are headed towards idiocracy.

Doesn't seem any worse than jersey shore.

The chick at 0:46 is pretty hot and also, I thought it was funny seeing the broke looking chick at 0:38 talking about one night stands.

Back in 2007, Jersey Shore was aspirational in that the cast was famous for partying. But now, anyone with a smartphone can simulate fame through an Instagram/Snapchat/Facebook account and "feel" popular in the club with their friends. Why sit down on your couch and watch others do what you can easily do yourself?

Why watch TV. Celebrities have their tits fall out on Snapchat for the world to see. Who is going to sit down to watch a bunch of edited and censored PG-13'ers when they can see Kim Kardashian slip a nipple on Snapchat.

Also, add to the fact that MTV, for how "edgy" it claims to be is like prune juice compared to the smut and degeneracy you can see online. MTV has made itself look tame and old-fashioned in being the ones to push degeneracy onto the masses. As you mentioned, anyone can live out their "shore" fantasy themselves. Back in the day, it was edgy for MTV to have two girls/dudes kissing on TV, and now that trash is everywhere. Nobody cares anymore. By helping to corrupt the masses, MTV has now made itself uncool and tame.

I just watched all the seasons of the Jersey shore. I didn't have cable when it first came out and it looked trashy. But JS is freakin hillarious. The Situation was awesome and funny, its too bad he has all the tax problems now, hopefully Trump can pardon him, after all they are friends from the Trump roast. The entire JS cast is hilarious. Anyone else looking forward to the next season of jersey shore Family Vacation shows?

And to think, MTV used to mean ”Music Television”. How’s that for straying away from a concept?

I guess music is for the radio or spotify.
Music videos must not get high ratings, so a Cable channel should probably put on TV shows to justify its existence as a cable provider. Iheard they brought back TRL, which does have music videos that you can also watch on youtube.

Well, there is always
'The Learning Channel'
90 Day Fiancé
Counting On
Dr. Pimple Popper
Family By The Ton
I Am Jazz
My 600-Lb Life
My Big Fat Fabulous Life
Return to Amish
Say Yes to the Dress
Seeking Sister Wife
Sister Wives

and 'The History Channel'
100 Days to Victory
Alone
Bud Empire
Forged in Fire
History Of
Knight Fight
Knightfall
Mountain Men
Pawn Stars
Project Blue Book
Rust Valley Restorers
The Curse of Oak Island
Vikings

Yup. Cutting cable was the right choice.
These channels actually had some good documentaries decades ago. Now, generally LCD moron-chow.

Idiocracy is here. Worse, it appears to be welcomed with open arms.

How long has it been since TLC actually called itself "The Learning Channel"?

It saddens me because I grew up at the time when MTV still had mostly music videos, Animal planet was full of documentaries, Discovery channel was the IMAX of learning channels (walking with dinosaurs will forever be legendary)The only station holding true to their audience is the food network. Even cartoon network has shows without cartoons.

Actually, I did watch Fx for the movies and I know plenty of people who did also. They rivaled the Scifi channel when it came to Action and Scifi movies if I recall.

Ironically, it was Youtube that brought the music video back from the brink.

This is from 2010. Those 2 (the whole cast really) were HUGE back then. I can't even imagine the amount of tail Pauly and Sitch got back then.

Pauly D probably gets even more pussy now. Dudes a famous DJ in Vegas making millions a year. He's by far the most successful person from that show.
