Used to be called manic depressive etc. It's basically being either extremely "on" or "off" (elevated or depressive mood) with no middle or neutral mood.

Windom Earle, I can buy that. But her posts signal extremely histrionic behaviour, which is a co-morbidity with other personality disorders.

It means that the person's mental state moves between two extremes, "manic" and "depressive".
