A display model version of Samantha, a popular high-tech sex robot, was damaged and “heavily soiled” by various men during a tech conference in Barcelona, Spain, this month, according to a report.
Samantha’s developer, Sergi Santos, claimed the men treated the sex robot “like barbarians,” broke two of her fingers, and left her “heavily soiled” at the Arts Electronica Festival.

“The people mounted Samantha’s breasts, her legs and arms… Two fingers were broken. She was heavily soiled,” declared Santos, who added that the sex robot had to be sent away for repairs and cleaning. “Samantha can endure a lot, she will pull through.”

I eagerly await the "I got an STD from a sex bot at a tech conference" story.

Would You Heavily Soil?

Wow, this doll has made THAT much of a reaction, even though she's knee deep in the uncanny valley?

God help us in 5-10 years when they make them as realistic as real women. Maybe they should stop this in the name of continuing the human species.

Video games and comic books were once reserved for losers and nerds so they could sink into escapism and distance themselves from the real world. Now there's a 2,728 post thread about video games on this very forum. Out of the top-5 posters in the thread, four have a "True Player" (no pun intended) title or higher. Just saying.

[Image: lol.gif] Seriously dude? Are these "titles" determined by Roosh sending a spy to watch each of us and see how much we're getting laid? Cause this whole time I thought they were a just a function of post count and meant as a joke. Really shattering stereotypes for video gamers to have a lot of posts on the Internet.

All kidding aside, I disagree with your point. Video games only ever had a stigma for people who get seriously addicted to them, and that hasn't changed one bit. Sexbots will start out with infinity times as much negative stigma as video games, and it would take a massive overhaul of social attitudes to remove that stigma.

I predict that the generations alive when sexbots are first released will not embrace them in large numbers.

The ultimate question here, once intelligent sex dolls come out, what are the effects on the sexual marketplace, and do real women ultimately reject feminism to compete?

Potentially, but birth rates will be fucked for a significant transition period.

I think as long as sexbots are stuck in the glorified animatronic level that sexbots will be seen in the same light as blow-up dolls. If and when we achieve strong A.I. then we're in uncharted territory on how they're treated. If you shame men by viewing these things as if they are blow-up dolls when they are passing the turing test then you may be denying their rights as an "artificial person" (ala Data in Star Trek). But if you treat them as if they deserve rights then it really calls into question what is and isn't life itself. This would be a serious inflection point in human development... Sure, the sexbots could murder their owners ala Ex machina, but we could just as well see a court case where a sexbot gets on the stand and tries to convince the world she is genuinely "in love" with the guy who purchased her to prove she isn't some sort of sex slave who needs rescuing by feminists. True consciousness and freewill cuts both ways, which is why flesh and blood humans can fall in love with someone OR murder them.

BTW, I am noticing a lot of news coverage about AI lately. Saw this on the news-stands today. Had a section with stills from Ex Machina, etc...

I know it's tempting to just treat this as a joke and brush it off, but it's not going to go away.

Thanks,

Only if you're 2nd

If 50 other guys already fucked the sexbot at the conference, and you are 51, is that Gamma? Zeta?

How much do these things retail for anyways?

We've gone full circle when the word 'fetish' returns to its original meaning.

Quote:Oxford Dictionaries Wrote:

an inanimate object worshipped for its supposed magical powers or because it is considered to be inhabited by a spirit.

synonyms: juju · talisman · charm · amulet · totem · icon · idol ·

Origin
early 17th cent. (originally denoting an object used by the peoples of West Africa as an amulet or charm): from French fétiche, from Portuguese feitiço ‘charm, sorcery’ (originally an adjective meaning ‘made by art’), from Latin facticius (see factitious).

Isn't the sexual marketplace already skewed by the flood of non-intelligent female masturbation objects to the point that such shops have been made mainstream on the average high street and the innocent word "toy" now means something entirely different?

If you're ready to lose your lunch, there's catalogue that goes around my district. The kind where there's a bunch of homeware products and you rip off the back page, list the products you want and attach a money order. They're marketed quite specifically at old people who don't know what ebay is and include stuff like denture holders and telescopic walking sticks.

Imagine my surprise to see the catalogue contain the image of an old woman rubbing her left shoulder with a fucking dildo. It was marketed as a "deep, penetrating massager" (I wonder if Homedics make a similar model) and was available in 9" or 12" models.

It wasn't even vaguely plausible as a generic massage device. Here's the nearest approximation I can find.
