Saudi Arabia's King Salman has issued a decree allowing women to drive for the first time, state media say.
Government ministries are to prepare reports within 30 days and the order will be implemented by June 2018, the Saudi Press Agency reported.
Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world to forbid women from driving.
Rights groups have campaigned for years to allow women in Saudi Arabia to drive, and some women have been imprisoned for defying the rule.
"The royal decree will implement the provisions of traffic regulations, including the issuance of driving licences for men and women alike," the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) said.

But women still have to be accompanied by a man. So now it's possible for you to be driven around by one of your wives. They still can't hop into a car and drive around Riyadh.

I'd bet women in SA will still need a man present in the car. They can't really go anywhere in public unescorted. So unless they are driving from house to house, this will be relatively uncommon at first.

Also a single woman in an accident with a man trying to argue it out in public will make people go crazy.

"The new policy will reportedly take effect starting on June 24 of next year, after a Saudi commission examines implementation procedures, which includes having to train police on how to interact with women - something unusual in a country where women are not even allowed direct communication with men who are not their family members or guardians.
.....
It is not known for sure whether or not Saudi women will be able to drive without their male guardians, though it's not likely given that Saudi state media reported the royal decree as noting that driving will take place "in accordance with Sharia law."

The driving in KSA is horrendous as it is already.

I know a few European men working there and they would never drive themselves but hire a chauffer because KSA is one of the most dangerous places to drive in the world.

I bet this is just to fool westerners to shut up some critics of Islam that make a point that women cannot drive in Shitty Arabia.

As noted by others before, women will still need a man to oversee their driving so in practice most women's driving will still be limited by trips form kitchen to bedroom.

What's of note is that there are something like 800,000 full time drivers in Saudi Arabia who chauffeur women around.

Are there any of you guys who secretly wish they could impose sharia law on western women like this?

All you gotta do is ask them questions and listen to what they have to say and shit.

Maybe not Sharia, but repealing women`s suffragism would be a great idea. It would effectively mean the end of muslim immigration within one election cycle for most Euro countries, among other things.

But hey, looks like Euro women will impose Sharia upon themselves, due to their endless gullibility/stupidity.

That's like cutting your arm off just because you have tendonitis. That's just too stupid.
