How would one find a crappy job working from home?

My friend moved near me that I grew up with and I'm trying to help him find a job working from home. He has a wife that's easily employable but doesn't drive (asian lol) and he has a felony dui which holds him back but it was years ago and he doesn't drink any more..

He does have a masters degree though in social work of some sort and is not really online savvy other than facebook games.

Anyone here ever work like customer service from home in a pinch?

Oh yeah he's fat too so the heat here kills him he can't do the type of work I'd be able to get him a job doing via my crew like tree climber etc.

An online business seems like the ideal venture for your friend. This might be a good place to start..

Thanks I'll show him that but I was more talking about him getting hired by an answering service of customer service rep. Maybe down the road he can develop skills needed that most younger dudes think everyone must have...

He's worse than even me on the computer.

I couldn't help on the customer service but he may be able to make some money speaking English to non-English speakers on sites like Lingoda.

Sometimes Hilton and other hotel chains have work from home openings for reservations. But you do have to know how to use a computer beyond Facebook games. How old is this guy & did he really get a masters degree without learning basic Microsoft Office?

Show him how to hustle.

I can't have sex with your personality, and I can't put my penis in your college degree, and I can't shove my fist in your childhood dreams, so why are you sharing all this information with me?

Man I tried. He moved here and as of today has no money but the rent is paid for the month. His wife has a min wage job though.

I've been so busy at work for a couple years I barely have time for much.. Once he's settled in a little more I'll figure out an angle for him but all my knowledge is in blue collar hands on stuff.

What languages does he know? Translations, writing is way to earn some extra cash, although if he needs it right now then freelancing will take some time to get any income from it. I would recommend to look for jobs that require 2+ languages as they pay pretty decently, although not that easy to find ones that allow to work remotely, at least at the beginning.

Well, then I would recommend checking VA/Call-center jobs on indeed or linkedin. There is a lot of jobs like that and native English speaker definitely has an edge here.

A work from home job doesn't necessarily mean the traditional answer phones or stuff envelopes nonsense.

Give your friend $1000. Tell him to put one of those ads on Craigslist for people that buy jjhunk cars for $100. Then get a tow guy to split the profit from the scrap.

Or how about a fly by night lawn service? Get some Mexicans to do rthe work for cash, just have the guy coordinate it from his couch.

Or, since he's got a degree in social work, he might easily be a certified substance counsellor. With a DUI conviction maybe rehabs will hire him since he's been through all that. That isn't manual labor.

How about some dogs? Get some purebred dogs, have them fuck, then sell the puppies.

I think that if you only focus on the traditional " work from home" you are just gonnna spin your wheels.

Aloha!

I'm going down that route and others here as well, he's applied for all types of counseling jobs. No way he's going to cut grass. That tow car junking thing may work but there's lots of competition here paying 300.

He can do stupid tasks on Amazon Turk for a little money... Basically stuff like 'click the humans in this picture' for example, weird little things that you need a human brain for but not much of it. Doesn't pay well but some people work fast and do hundreds of these silly tasks a day, so it adds up.

Amazon and Apple both have work from home Customer Service/Tech Support.

Amazon also appears to have positions beyond regular call center style CS too.

Most of these "work from home" jobs are really underpaid and many are scams. And running a home business takes a lot of time and effort.

If he has a masters degree in social work, he could set up a consultancy on how to get the most out of your benefits if you're in that welfare system. People will pay for that kind of stuff, writing applications, going along to meetings etc.

I'll pitch in another dollar, willing to put 10 bucks in an escrow account.

Edit: There's a datasheet on here about participating in "market research" studies and mock trials. You get paid 50-250 for 1.5-8 hours of your time and most have free lunch. Some of them you can do from home. Look them up in the Craigslist "gigs" section. These guys are pretty good, and pay quickly:

Hahaha.

He's screwed. Better go out, hit the pavement and find a job he can walk to.

There's such a thing in life as a game over. Now some people say "well it's never too late to start over" but that's a load of shit. You reap what you sow.
