Hello Everyone. I have been reading on this site for a while and I ended up joining. Love the content from everyone. I am living in Florida and this October I am looking at taking a vacation for a week. The places on my list are Indonesia, Philippines, Morocco, or returning to the Dominican Republic again. I really want to check out either the Philippines or Indonesia but I am not sure if I can do a SEA country in a week. Same goes for Morocco. I am also concerned about the language barriers in Morocco and Indonesia. I only speak English and Spanish. In all these countries I do have some female contacts there. I am also an African American male and in my early 30s if this makes a difference. Also if anyone is wondering about religion that is not an issue because I was raised in a household where my dad was a Muslim and my mom a Christian. So here are my questions:

1. Has anyone had a trip to SEA for a week flying from the Eastern US?

2. Is it possible to do the Philippines and Indonesia in one week(spending like 2 days in one place and then rest of the time in the other)?

3. Is it possible to do Morocco in one week(looking at spending time in Rabat).

4. Can some basic French or Bahasa be enough for me to get around in Morocco and Indonesia?

5. Has anyone been to Pekanbaru on this forum(this is where one of my contacts is from in Indonesia)?

From doing research on this site the general themes I took are these. Philippines is good for getting a lot of lays. Indonesia is right behind it but you have to work a little more because of religion. Morocco you should see for cultural purposes but you can get lays there, and we all know about the Dominican Republic. Lol.

3. Yes. A week in Rabat is not a good idea though.

4. I don't speak any French and I was fine in Morocco. Don't expect to get laid in only one week though, especialy if you also want to do touristy things. You don't need to speak Bahasa Indonesia to get around and get laid in Indonesia.

5. No. But if you only have a week I would strongly advise against going to Sumatra just to meet a female contact. It will take you at least a day to do all the traveling.

Ok then. This is some good advice. I need to weigh the pros and cons of each situation. Good to know as well I can get around in these countries without knowing the local lingo. Remember someone else saying that before on my personal FB page. For Penkanbaru there are some other things I want to check out. Same goes for Morocco. I don't totally like to do touristy type things all the time. For Rabat I plan to do some small day trips and come back in the evening. I understand Casablanca is only an hour away from Rabat. Also I want to check out Fez and Meknes.

being on the ground now for about 6 months in the Pilipinas... its really not enough time but you could get lucky..

Between the jet lag and the high likelihood that you'll get the shits, a week in SE Asia just isn't worth it. If I was you, I'd hop on a direct flight to the Caribbean, Central/south America.

Yeah I wouldn't go to Asia unless you more time, you'll waste too much time in the airport. Just see where you can get a direct flight from wherever you are and try somewhere new thats much closer.

@Kale_anonymous I see now that from yourself and others that it is not worth it for SE Asia wish I lived closer.

@scotian I can't lie. It is soooooo easy to go to the Caribbean and Central/Southern America from where I live. Really don't want the shits. Had that when I went to the DR. Lol. Some countries on my bucket list for those areas though are Chile and Guatemala. I have studied the data sheets on those places. Will take another look at those.

@ Shimmy What is a good amount of time for SE Asia? 2 weeks to a month?

Lol. Cool. I will wait on those details. Honestly if I were to do the Philippines I would do Manila. Have a contact in Angeles.
