Hi everyone.

Plzeň is the fourth largest city in CR. While there's plenty of info about Prague on here, I'm curious about your experiences in Plzen. Looking for a city to live for 2-4 months, Plzen seems less overrun, cheaper than Prague, smaller so penetrating social circles and getting the lowdown will be faster.

So, can you guys recommend it? Tips, thoughts, cautions?

Thank you men.

^ While you're asking, is there an official word on how much English is spoken in the country?

Outside of Prague, how well could a guy with zero Czech language skills get by?

District: Plzeň-City

Population: 169,033 (2015)

2-4 months in Plzen? I would say 2-4 days maximum.

You don't need experience to know that it's definitely gonna be shit.

< Do not underestimate the small-tier cities in Eastern Europe. I have found veritable gold-mines in some areas with 30.000 inhabitants.

If only CR was Eastern Europe. I'm not saying that out of spite, but that will directly have in impact on your success if you group CR as being EE.

The girls in Plzen are hot, as they are everywhere in CR, even in a damn gas station. If you're an American they will be nervous and shy.

Dude it's cheap af compared to Prague, but I'd never live there.

I dunno, this could be a great experience. Getting off the tourist trail, out into the heart of the country.

Sure its going to be tough, you are going to struggle with the language - and pick it up quick.

But I think this could be a fantastic experience, a life changing move.

Its going to take some guts, determination and persistance.

Adventure on brother!

The opportunity to meet an exceptional women is real here.

Hi there, since I live in Munich, Germany, and since Plzen is the closest large "Eastern" European city (yes - I know it's technically Central Europe) to my hometown, I've already been to Plzen almost 10 times for weekend or day trips. It's definitely worth a stay of some weeks if you're looking for a beautiful and great city that has everything you need, but - as you assume correctly - much cheaper than Prague and much less overrun.

The city center of Plzen is one of the most beautiful architectural ensembles you will find throughout Europe and very walkable with little car traffic and lots of quiet side streets, and a park that is shaped like a halfmoon around the city centre. The number of restaurants and bars is simply overwhelming for such a small city. Girls are aplenty and as beautiful as in Prague. Even 10% of Prague's girls will still keep you busy with day- and nightgaming, but with much less foreigner competition than in touristy-overrun Prague.

While I would say that there's not too much touristy stuff that will keep you busy - you can climb the church tower for a great view, do a tour of the large beer brewery and visit the underground catacombs, don't overlook the zoo at the edge of the city which is really a good one for a city of that size - the city offers all amenities you need and can easily keep you busy for some weeks. Daygaming spots would be the railway station, the entire city centre and the modern shopping mall that's directly adjacent to the centre.

If you would get bored sometimes, there are plenty of day trips you can do from Plzen. Ceske Budejovice, the Bohemian Forest (one of the deepest and largest in Europe), beautiful small Klatovy, the Hluboka castle, castle Karlstejn and castle Krivoklat, and of course Prague itself are mostly only one or two hours away from Plzen and could keep you busy for some days already.

If you're not sure about staying there for 2-4 months, maybe keep your options open by not paying or pre-booking accomodation for a such long period of time in advance, so that you can easily pack your stuff and go someplace else - for example Prague - without losing any money for pre-paid accomodation.

All that being said, Plzen is my favourite Czech city apart from Prague and definitely worth a longer stay.

Thanks for this post, goldenhinde. How would you compare Plzen to Brno for a few weeks stay?

There is a huge difference between guys who have passive income or work online and guys who have a few months every few years and decide to invest in a 3rd tier city.
Of course, it depends where you are coming from. I lived in VERY BIG CITIES all my life. Every time I'm visiting cities of 500.000 people, after a few days, I feel the symptoms of a nervous breakdown. It's impossible to adapt to the provincial mentality.
if you are not location independent, you should choose wisely where to invest these few months. A city of roughly 2 million people won't let you down.
4 months in Plzen? The bangable girls will have moved to Prague or have boyfriends-husbands-kids.
On the other hand, If you are location independent and have the flexibility to check 5-10 cities of this category, you might find a 7 to bang.
However, I liked Goldenhinde's suggestion that ''you can climb the church tower for a great view.''

If you struggle to find something decent to bang in Plzen, you can masturbate at this spot, thinking ''What the fuck am I doing here?''
