Which loafers to buy?

I'm in the market for some new loafers (penny, tassels or plain) for autumn. Looking at spending up to about $300. Anyone seen any great ones or any good deals lately? Any input appreciated!

Haha, I always get jocked for wearing penny loafers. And tassel loafers are even more out there. Some options:

Monkstraps

Driving Mocs (these are basically disposable though):

Monkstraps are my top choice. Here are some. The cheaper monk straps, the linked ones aside, tend to be poor imitations of their expensive counterparts, like the one first pictured.

Nice! Particularly love the Monkstraps, hadn't considered those. Thanks for the links.

You'll like this: Stubbs & Wootton let you customise velvet slippers on their site: http://www.stubbsandwootton.com/index.html/bespoke/ - on the expensive side though.

Caligula: I just picked up a pair of single monkstraps from Allen Edmonds for $325 (their "Norwich"); not over the top expensive but a good solid well-made shoe with leather sole. Couldn't find a double monkstrap anywhere in the area. I'm happy with the purchase; they look decent, fit well, and will probably last me many years. Simple lines but still pretty classy; I've gotten compliments on them already.

A double monk would be nice, but like I said I can't find one anywhere local, and they're pretty spendy for most mail-orders. If I make it overseas any time soon, I gather they're more popular in Europe.

Stitch, I really like that one, very low key.

I found the Geox double monkstraps on sale in a local shop for $100 yesterday, not top notch quality but they'll do for a while.
