So chuck her in an insane asylum for the rest of her life.

Sounds like a reasonable compromise.

There's a vanishingly thin level of fucks being given by cis white men of western civilisation for these complicated rationales that only seem to spring up when the person on trial is not a cis white man of western civilisation.

Lonely, sad, unstable woman has an unfulfilled maternal instinct and tries to use somebody else's baby to fulfill it. It's not that complicated. Trying to force the template of pedophilia onto issues that are not pedophilia makes them more complicated, not less.

I agree completely about institutionalization (or arrest), but it was Chong's decision not to involve authorities. I would be inclined to call the police, even McLaren's article noted that she is surprised nobody called the police (which makes it all the more bizarre that she wanted to write about it).

Then again, put yourself in his shoes. You're the only witness and she apparently gave the baby over calmly and without protest. I wouldn't be surprised if it was so bizarre that he didn't fully process what he'd seen until he was already walking away. Chong's a guest in someone's home and would probably look like the crazy one if he called the police and tried to tell them what he saw without evidence. He took the drama-free route.

Now it's resurfaced, but ten years later, nobody's going to take action now and he still wants nothing to do with it. I don't blame him. What good would it possibly serve him to engage with a crazy stranger over this, to appear in court and testify? That's probably what she really wanted at this point, lots of attention associating her with a celebrity to add something to her empty life. The only likely rationale for wanting to put this out there was that she genuinely believed people would think this somehow makes her interesting, and Chong's time and energy would validate that.

As I near my 40's I am starting to witness a sad phenomenon among some women my age; divorce without children.

I almost feel worse for them, as they are out of the procreation game now. They had likely relied on their husband for comfort, stability and happiness fare more than people should. Now they are alone... and very dangerous.

These women are toxic to married mothers. Suddenly they portray their life before divorce as meaningless, and how they never knew happiness and freedom until they were single at 40. For anyone looking in, especially us men, its brutal to watch.

At this stage in my life there are not many women out there who can fool me. I am sure most of you guys are the same. So hearing this story does not surprise me, and its not a pedophilia thing for me either. Its a frustration thing. That at 25 years old she could not allow herself to look into her desires with such an open mind to allow herself to become a mother. Instead, she chose career and the building of more wealth for her overlords.
