What's the best way to get promotion? How can you make sure you won't be stuck in the same position for years and not get advanced? I work in the hotel business and I want to become a general manager, but the general manager in my hotel is the same one for years, how can I be sure that he wouldn't stay there in the future for more alot of years, and I will be stuck in the same position?

Why don't you ask your GM how he got to his position? Knowing how hospitality works, i'd guess he has a biz degree or even a masters in hospitality and about 15-20 years at the same property or firm.

A lot of promotions are really just politics, luck, and a bit of skill. Show up on time, be helpful, do a good job, and be cool with your boss are generally a good way to start getting promoted.

Professional wise, I think I'm good enough to become a general manager, BUT , why that would be me? and not another manager? ITS all about politics and connections, I think that like there is a way to game women, there is also a way to GAME career, but HOW?

Generally, people who get promoted happen to also know how to write proper English with the correct punctuation.

I would start there and work on that.
