I'm not trying to ruin the party but hostel girls have always been too annoying and frumpy for me. I know you can find good looking ones but when I travel I want local girls, not some stary eyed backpacker. Hostels can be useful though, if I am going to be leaving at like 300 am, they are a cheap place to put my stuff and take a nap. I've also had luck meeting gringo hunters while partying in hostels. A caviot to this though is that I have always been like a 6 to American girls and an 8 to most foreign girls.

I've never been to Canada, but it looks like I am planning a trip there for a week or so in August and I want to hit the best party hostel I can find. At this point I think Montreal is the best city to visit, but I am open to other Canadian cities.

Can anyone tell me about the best hostel for partying/flags/notches in Montreal or another great Canadian city?

The M Montreal is your best bet there. Otherwise the Same Sun Vancouver. Toronto used to have a great one downtown, but the building sold and it's a fucking coffee shop now.

Tip for Mexico and latin America. The most expensive hostels won't neccesarily have hotter chicks. I am now in a hostel for $5 a day and theres plenty of girls from south america who look 5x better than the english girls where I paid $15 a night. That is because latino's don't earn as much as western europeans.

For San Diego, I can recommend "USA Hostels San Diego" on the 5th. Almost banged a cute Korean-American girl, had it not been for her fat cockblocking friend crying over her unrequited crush on the hostel "manager" / bar tender - confirming the potential benefits described here - who she felt she needed to tend to. Nonetheless, a fun party hostel with drinking games, happy hour free drinks, and a good crowd.

I use Hostelworld for the reviews but never book through them. The reason is they charge a high service fee and you have to pay the hostel in real life (which means using my USD card at an ATM and taking out local money. I'm easily spending $10+ in withdrawal fees and bad conversion rates by doing that).

I find most of the Hostelworld hostels are now on Expedia and Expedia just takes my credit card and withdraws in USD (so I don't get hammered by currency conversion fees). But Expedia is kind of weird about listing the dormitory beds sometimes.

I noticed a big shift after 2015. Why 2015? Smartphones at that point became fairly affordable and cheap. I remember having some good times in hostels but anytime I tried them after 2015 it was people with faces glued into their phones.

Thing is Tinder kind of made up for that a little bit. Tinder made it easier to meet local women versus relying on hostel skanks for a good time.
