Backpage.com forced to remove its p4p content

ALERT: This is not a discussion of p4p or its merits.

This was in the news a couple of weeks ago. I remember that first they went after Craigslist, now it's Backpage.

http://nypost.com/2017/01/10/backpage-co...t-section/

Apparently they were hounded by the govt over claims of "sex trafficking" and "human trafficking". How true those assertions are is unclear, though I lean on the side of bullshit.

Quote:Quote:

In announcing its decision, Backpage said it was the victim of government censorship. Backpage attorneys said executives would appear at a subcommittee hearing on Tuesday, but would not testify.

US Senators Rob Portman and Claire McCaskill, however, said their subcommittee found Backpage had been far more complicit in sex trafficking than previously known.

“Backpage’s response wasn’t to deny what we said. It was to shut down their site,” they said in a statement. “That’s not ‘censorship’ — it’s validation of our findings.”

The company vowed to continue its legal battles, which have become an important test for the entire internet industry of whether online platforms can be held liable for the content posted on their sites.

Not surprising. What elected politician is going to be on the record for agreeing to prostitution? This is what they call an "easy win".

No real loss IMO. Prostitution is just a hamper for men how to actually interact with women.

I agree that prostitution puts an hamper on how men interact with Women... but how many Ellliot Rodgers does prostitution hold off from getting from losing it? Since 90%+ guys don't study game... I'm afraid it's a lot. And ironically, it's men not getting off sexually that makes them accomplish some real shit... to get them laid! Yeah life is a Giant catch 22! Totally disagree. Did you read his manifesto? I read every single page. The man was massively entitled. He would have never gone to a whore because that would have been a blow to his outsized ego. He couldn't comprehend that beautiful blonde women didn't want to fuck him, when he never even made an attempt at approaching them.

Simply put, Elliot was a mentally ill coward. A prostitute wouldn't have saved him, because he would have never hired one in the first place. For the men who can't afford whores, there's tons of porn, which is acting as a de facto prostitution wherever there's high speed interact access.

There's one who stands by my morning bus stop. At least I think they are. They might be a cross-dresser. Let me know when you find out.

The move towards a more puritan society...

This will of course blow up in their faces. Prior a girl could attempt to bypass pimps and setup her own thing. Because frankly you won't ever stop the men willing to pay for sex and the girls willing to provide it; as the many lawmakers who get busted with their pants down will tell you. All this does is move the activity underground where more surly pimps can do their surly business outside of the light of day.

Same approach to failed drug laws: "Get it out of our faces so we can pretend the problem don't exsist". It just ends up getting much worse which is why America has so many crackheads and whoremongers in comparison to other spots.

The way I see it is that this shut will happen no matter what you do so might as well bring it out of the shadows and create a paper trail. IP a dresses, zip codes, phone numbers, all tied up to those ADs which could provide important information when stuff goes south to a girl, or a guy getting scammed.

If the concern was stopping sex trafficking, wouldn't it actually be a good thing if they were advertising? I mean it saves a lot of investigative work of finding the trafficking victims.

You can hardly call a society that uploads modesty icons like Katy Perry and Beyonce as puritanical. Rather, we are overtly sexual in our media, but only for libertines. The sex restriction is on men only, especially those who try to do the right thing and start families. Feminism is just purely angry and ugly women trying to collectively bargain.

That's something I've wondered myself.

Why not look on back page and go to all the massage parlors and free the trafficked Asian women. But no, let's make back page illegal.

Right now today in Miami on South Beach the whores are still out peddling their pussies, just in larger numbers. Backpage closing down just forced these hoes to get off their ass to sell pussy, Eros is benefiting though. My friend is a whoremonger who lives on South Beach and he is laughing his ass off fucking $400 whores for $100 because they are too dumb to know to just switch to Eros. Some bitches have done Porn to Escort and been scammed into doing a BG porn because they have no idea about Eros. He told me bitches are out there on Washington and Collins pushing the pussy hard because they are clueless about alternative sites to advertise their services. Some bitches are fucking considering print ads, print ads in 2017..... these dumb hoes need a pimp, they are disorganized.

Problem is that while the oldest profession is actually needed in a society, no one wants their daughter to be working in it.

If you think about it the advent of the strip club is a feminist workaround for them to make a ton of money without having to fuck for it. All they have to do is dicktease thirsty men for it. Something they are all naturally very good at, no skills required. ATL style clubs with acrobatic girls are just putting on an extra show, the vast majority does not do all that shit.

The irony is that lots of them end up tootin' or escorting on the side for extra money.

People with biblical viewpoints concerning this have some decent points. Almost all of what was said about it was in the Old Testament though. It mostly just tells the Isrealites not to let their daughters get into that and that if they did, their cities would become full of wickedness. If society was healthier, culture wise, we would not have a need for it in the first place. So it becomes a do you treat the symptoms, or the root cause, situation.

On the Stripping episode of the Trappin Anonymous podcast, the stripper mentions that it was the pimps who took their girls off the track and put them in the strip clubs for whatever reason. She said those girls are there to sell pussy and are fake strippers.

This only applies to the U.S. cities on backpage. All other countries, including Canada and Mexico, are still up and running their p4p sections. Looks like the U.S. morality police once again, but no one else gives a damn. Maybe the govt doesn't have jurisdiction over the rest of the site outside the U.S.?

It all depends on the jurisdiction of the city/country.
The US has a lot of power with regards to online services that "operate within the border". What this mean is that even though the servers may not be located on american soil the feds will still come after it if it's doing something they shouldn't i.e. some like silk road etc.'
Most other countries lack the resources to force these companies to comply. In order for this to happen the owners of backpage must have been threatened with some pretty heavy penalties for non-compliance.

Looks like they've taken another step. Any attempts to go to international cities (even Canada) send you to the U.S. backpage site. Either they shut down those sites altogether, or automatically prohibit anyone with an ISP within the U.S. from access and redirect you. My guess is the latter. Another victory for Big Brother...

I've dealt with human trafficking in the legal field. Portman is from Ohio which has done a lot to combat trafficking. Toledo, Ohio is known as the main hub for traffickers since it lies at the intersection of 75 and 90/80. It's a dark business and I don't fualt any attempt to put more bad hombres out of business.

The real question is how many of these girls are independent operators and how many are truly victims. We'll never know. Even if you took a poll you wouldn't get honest answers. However, I think people like to play up the idea that it's all poor girls that are taken advantage of by evil pimps in order to absolve them of any responsibility. It has nothing to do with them being drug addicts or too lazy or lacking in social skills to get a normal job or a husband. Or them just being whores who are using their whoredom to make a living.

I watched the documentary "Tricked" on Netflix which declares (with no evidence) that 95% of prostitutes are victims. Again I don't know what the actual statistic is but I'm willing to guess it's considerably less than that. If we're worried about trafficking then make that the crime, not prostitution. In any case, blocking the website is cosmetic. It's not like prostitutes and their clients now won't have any way to connect with each other. It makes some politician seem like a tough on crime kinda guy while he's probably hitting up some high class DC escorts after signing off on the order.
