Car driven into Australian Christian Lobby headquarters in Canberra

A VAN carrying gas bottles was driven into the headquarters of the Australian Christian Lobby in Canberra last night and set alight, causing an explosion.

Windows were blown out and furnishings destroyed at the headquarters after it was hit by what’s been described as a “car bomb”.

There is oil and debris strewn over the carpark outside the lobby’s office in Deakin after it was rammed by a van reportedly carrying gas bottles.

A man is believed to have driven the white van towards the Eternity House building about 10.45pm last night.
The van was gutted in the explosion.

It is believed the alleged driver is receiving medical attention but there had been no arrests made yet.

Lyle Shelton, the lobby’s director, described it as a “car bomb” when he tweeted two pictures early today showing a burnt out van rammed into the front of the office building.

“A vehicle has rammed our office in Canberra & exploded. All Staff are safe. I do not know the condition of the driver. Prayers appreciated,” he tweeted.

“Shocked that this could happen in Australia.”
Australian Christian Lobby’s Lyle Shelton said he was “shocked” over the attack.

By 6am, the van had been cleared away with the strong smell of gas remaining outside the office.

Debris from the vehicle have been left behind, including a Toyota badge.
The van caused damage to the building.

The front windows of the two-storey building are smashed on both levels with mangled window blinds and light fittings hanging from the ceiling. A phone continues to ring unanswered inside.

The office is located in a quiet street, less than a 10 minute drive from Parliament House.

The car was a smouldering wreck by the time emergency services arrived at the scene only to find the shell of the van remaining with tyres melted from wheels.

Australian Capital Territory Police confirmed a vehicle was driven towards the front of the building and a police operation was under way.

“Investigations into a vehicle fire at the Australian Christian Lobby and no one was injured inside the building,” the spokesman said.

“There are no public safety issues and ACT are seeking any witnesses to the incident.”

Mr Shelton told The Daily Telegraph he was relieved there were no staff in the building at the time and is flying back from holidays with his family in Queensland today to talk with ACT Police.

“We have had the normal trolls on social media and even had death threats sent to our Canberra office over the year but I am very concerned someone would do this,” Mr Shelton said.

“It is a relief the building was unoccupied at the time and we are all very thankful our staff are all safe.

“Obviously this is very unsettling to us but also to anyone in Australia, for this to happen in Canberra, our nation’s capital is very disappointing.

“It is something I thought would never happen here, I can’t believe it.”

No arrests have been made but it is believed the alleged driver of the van is receiving medical attention.

It will be very interesting to find out the identity of the driver. Normally I would have put this on Mohammed's merry band of muppets but the ACL has also been a target for various pro-abortion anti-Christian groups in the past, so it's possible that this was just a botched attack by a group of ramen-swilling arts majors.

Time will tell.

I doubt it is a white leftist who perpetrated the attack. They are usually low testosterone neck beards who don't have the balls to pull it off. They would prefer to bash Christians on social media and virtual signal their tolerance to everyone. My money is on radical Jihad.

^Yeah, it's the safe bet. I only looked it up after I heard about it on the radio and they were yakking on about anti-abortion this and anti-gay marriage that.

On top of that Mohammed's muppets usually got for public locations packed with infidels in broad daylight which is why this particular attack twinged my leftard alarms.

Wot?

Does that sentence even make sense?

So, it was just for shits and giggles then? Or?

At least the Assault Down-Lown Muslim President is getting evicted from the White House in just a few more days. [Image: biggrin.gif]

The framing of this as a 'car crash' rather than a bombing is telling.

I don't trust the media any more and I think the wording is purely to keep the public calm. Car crash=criminal, Bombing=terrorist.

There is the chance the cops just want to keep the whole thing on the down low so as not to alarm the perpetrator(s) though. The media is usually on side to help as long as the ingroups (leftists/atheists/muslims) are the perps and the outgroups (right wing/christian groups) are the victims.

I'd say you're right about keeping the public calm, but this...

...I still can't get my head around.

Basically they're saying that some unhinged agnostic Australian man with absolutely no ties to any religious, political, or ideological groups whatsoever just decided he wanted to blow up a building purely for his own amusement, and completely by chance and pure coincidence, he just happened to choose the headquarters of a Christian political lobby group for absolutely no political, religious, or ideological reason at all.

Who on this planet can they possibly expect to believe that? This may be the most ridiculous official statement I have ever read.

^I just tried looking it up again and I'm starting to realise that part of the reason for this nonsense about calling it a "car crash" is that it screws with internet search engines.

Calling it a car crash makes it harder to find, particularly as the weeks go on. In a month try searching for "car crash canberra" and you'll just get a dozen articles on random car crashes.

Sure, you can find it if you add certain other references but for the average punter they're going to either have to devote a few minutes to tracking it down or they're just going to give up.

Words matter.

That's because the atheist-run media doesn't believe that agnostics or atheists can be dogmatic about anything. Clearly that isn't true!

Australian media on this topic over the past 24 hours:

Me: "So what was all this about?"

Media: "Oh that, it was nothing"

Me: "Somebody tried to blow up the Australian Christian Lobby Group headquarters. Who was it?"

Media: *tumbleweed...sunset...crickets*

Me: "??"

Media: "LOOK! WE STOPPED A TERRORIST ATTACK, THESE LEBOS WERE PLANNING TO BLOW UP MELBOURNE ON CHRISTMAS DAY!!!"

Me: "What about that one yesterday?"

Media: "What?"

Me: "The terrorist attack on the Australian Christian Lobby in the capital of Australia. What was that about? Was it for the glory of Mohammad? Pro-abortion atheists?, An extremely faggy extremist faggot? A Scandinavian death metal fanatic? What?

Media: *...endless plains stretch to the horizon below glaring cloudless skies. In the distance through the heat haze, a willy-willy stirs a small cloud of dust. After some time a tiny lizard darts from the shelter of one rock to another, even he seeking refuge from the relentless sun that beats down upon this vast emptiness...*

That's a pretty big leap in logic there, obviously they're claiming he's agnostic to try to leave Islam out of the picture, not because they think agnostics or atheists can't be dogmatic.

Atheists especially, get special treatment in the media as being more evolved and enlightened. They never highlight the evils of Hitler or Stalin through an atheistic lens. That's no to make excuses for Islam, or the widespread barbarism is brings wherever it is found.
