If You Were 18 Again, What Would You Do Differently?

Study harder, it would have been nice to get all that nonsense out of the way earlier.

Learn a language or two.

Traveled more, my gut always told me I should have gone on the road sooner.

Worry less about girls, maybe cultivate more friendships with girls that "potentially" could have led to something down the road. When you pick up a girl of a certain age now, it is a crap shoot when you don't know her background.

Made an investment, bought a house that I could have rented it out. This would have allowed me fulfil more of my dreams.

For those who think this is a worthless exercise, I disagree. I happen to be 20, so hearing these things from you guys makes me look at shit in perspective.

If it ain't helpful for you, at least it's making me think.

I agree with Docter on how these suggestions put things into perspective for us younger members. Im 23 and about to graduate soon. My friend who has a steady job says he would love to just travel the world for a year, and its a common theme I am seeing on this forum. Many people wish they traveled while they were young. Part of me thinks I should backpack through Europe/South America but my logic and rational nature makes the whole Idea terrifying.

Bang a ton of 15 year olds. Just sayin'

But seriously, along the lines of everyone else here. Finances, school, work, life, networking, women... basic life experience stuff.

Nothing. I'd do the same stupid shit all over again. Being wise and mature is grossly overrated and dreadfully boring. Making mistakes, suffering, and overcoming personal demons in a process of self evolution gives life flavor.

I'd explain why an Atkins/Paleo style diet works, I'd tell myself to get to the gym, and to take more chances, especially social chances. Dont wait till your 21 to take your first drink.

Edit: Skip college and go directly into a trade field and learn while you work.

I'd move to London and start a career in sales then start a business a few years later ( around the age of 21 ) , first while still working in sales, then I'd focus completely on my business. Focus 90% of my attention to my career.
Eat healthy (paleo diet).
Read 30-50 pages every day.
Learn Mandarin, maybe: Spanish, Russian, Portuguese also.
Go out to meet women 8 hours/week.
Do yoga, meditation, mma.

If somebody does this, I guarantee that he's gonna be a fucking monsta by the age of 25.

I think the OP is looking for realistic stuff....

Own your own business in London at the age of 21?!?!?

I've done pretty damn well, so there are only a few tweaks I'd have made.

1) Gotten a goddamn prenup so I wasn't losing so much with my upcoming divorce. Curiously, I probably would have gotten married again; when it was good, it was really good.
2) Would have done strength training a lot earlier rather than just running. I look and feel a ton better at 40 than I have at any earlier time in my life.
3) Wish I'd have really internalized the pilot's maxim that "good judgement comes from experience; experience comes from bad judgement", ie get out there and fail a lot; you'll learn more and faster.
4) Wish I'd really internalized the importance of deliberate practice earlier in life. I learned it, just late.
5) Wish I'd applied 3) and 4) to women. Game, as it were, is a skill like any other. Practice it and learn from your failures, and you'll improve.

I don't regret much of what I've done in life, though. I've done okay.

@Gmac : the today's 13-14 year olds are the 18 year olds you used to date if i'm not mistaken.I just happened to ask some girls entering a club (gate keeper didnt bother to ask for ID's).

@Tuthmosis: Do you think that 18 years of bainwashing by religion and parents can be easilly changed? It takes a shitload of time to enter in the brain. If you were to change your old self you would need to shout at him through the portal everyday.
I'm just 17 and just discovered all those books that rich people wrote (Napoleon Hill, MJ Demarco) and all the information from seduction community and the things all of guys here mention. i really try to make changes so that i will be very strong in the future . All these lies i'v been told for 17 years make feel like a retard for believing them. Now everyday i try to learn as much as i can and eventually throw video games in the trash.

I know because i dont know shit about life like those (25+ y/o) guys but i know for sure that a lot of 18 y/o today dont read any books nor try to watch some educational videos for at least one hour of their day. They think that WoW and Cock of duty are more important than anything and that being in a long relationship is a cool thing and whenever you fail with a girl they laugh at you. However the embarrasing mistakes make a young man to have a burning desire for a cool life. When i turn 18 i will tell my self to visit this thread and see what road i chose.

I agree with Andreas, most 18 year old guys don't know shit and waste too much time on video games.
Even the smart ones are usually socially conditioned as fuck and think that getting rich will get them girls.
Only a few smart alphas exist at this level. Most of the alphas are not very smart.

Learning about game and reading books like Millionaire Fastlane is a godsend for us few younger guys. Reading itself is important since good books add so much value to your life.
Its funny how game is the the tunnel into self development.
My friend who used to have no direction in life and smoked pot all day now is extremely thankful I introduced him to books like The Millionaire Fastlane. Instead of wasting his time smoking he's reading great informative books. None of his teachers in school thought he was going to amount to anything at all in life yet he's getting it back on track. Just shows how fucked up the educational system is that it squanders so much potential.

You fuckers are lucky SOBs. I wish I had a Rooshvforum when I was 18. Game? What the hell is that? So, you are supposed to neg women instead of being nice to them? Really? Oh dear lord, was I an idiot when I was young, actually I look back and say that to myself every year [Image: sad.gif].

@Oldnemesis: I don't think this is mental masturbation. This can be good advice for guys who are 18 at the moment. So I will give my recommendations.

1. Don't drink yourself to oblivion every week: An 18 year old cannot be kept away from alcohol but you can control your drinking. Really alcohol has done nothing but screwed up things for me. You don't function well when you are drunk and this means than alcohol does not help you to get laid, it works as a girl repellent.

2. Pick up a martial art: Seriously, don't waste time in the gym. If you don't like to fight then pick up a sport.

3. Learn to dance: The sooner you start the better you will be when you are older.

4. Have some sort of passive income:
If you want to be a millionaire by the age of 21 then by all means go ahead and try to achieve that but on the side always have a passive income of $1000-2000 that will allow you to do and buy things other kid your age cant.

CAN YOU READ? What did I write? PICK UP A MARTIAL ART! 2 hours of Muay Thai, Capoeria, MMA, BJJ is working out. In fact its more taxing than 2 hours in the gym. You not only work out but develop a new skill that will give you discipline is other areas of your life!

There are tons of ways. Now don't come back and say no there aren't. Just because YOU can't generate passive income does not mean that there aren't ways to do so.

SERIOUSLY, NEXT TIME YOU ATTACK SOMEONE WITH A SMART ASS RESPONSE THEN HAVE A GOOD REASON TO DO SO!

1) When I said working out I meant STRENGTH TRAINING. You know the thing that gets guys muscular. Obviously ANY activities which require energy can be working out and beneficial to the staying in shape.

2) You said and I quote "dont waste time in a gym". People will take that as dont waste your time lifting weights and getting big. Not trying to call you out but that has to be one of the most stupidest things I ever heard. So YEA I CAN READ, CAN YOU?

2) Ovcourse there are many ways to generate passive income. The reason I asked is because it would be more beneficial to forum members if you could be alittle more specific about generating passive income. Maybe you have done so. In that case how you did it would be alot more useful than the vague general advice you gave.

That certainly wasnt an attack lmfao

One of the most muscular guys on the forum, MiXX, does not do any kind of strength training, he is against going to the gym. If you were specifically talking about STRENGTH TRAINING then you should said so instead of using a general term like WORKING OUT! I now do free weight exercises and to me that has provided more benefit than all those years in the gym. Hence, the advice based on my own REAL EXPERIENCE.

This has been discussed time and again on the forum. Moreover there is lot of info everywhere on the internet. Yeah, you are right I should have been more specific to benefit the forum. But I didn't want to limit anyone's thinking. If you want to start somewhere then join the warrior forum.

If this is how you respond to messages then I will take it that we have different perceptions about how grown men should talk. In the future I advice you to not reply to my messages and I will do the same with you. Also. lets leave this here and make this forum about good advice and not writing dumb statements like "wtf, lol", "this is the stupidest thing I have ever heard."

Most men go to the gym for strength training. Free weights are in a gym no? I thought it was clear what I was referring to. My bad, nxt time I will be more precise for you.

Take a chill pill bro. lol I will comment on a post of yours if I feel the need to. Esp if I feel like your giving bad advice. I took your post as insinuating that its a waste of time to lift weights and get big. The other comment was only trying to extract more precise tangible info on generating passive income.

I agree with Mystik, pick up a sport its important. I used to wrestle and fight MMA so I know the Muay Thai, Capoeria, MMA, BJJ that dont lift weights are the weakest ones; you must lift weights on top of your sport. I picked up long distance running so its 3 days weights 3 days running. I dont care much for running as Im used to contact sports but competitions are a blast (Im a leg man). I want to do the ironman before im 30 so unfortunately Ill have to pick up swimming and biking as well after a few more marathons.

I would have told my 18 yr old self to pick my college more wisely. I didnt have any help from my parents as they were 1st generation college students and were happy that I was going to college. You cant be passive on picking a college; Use that College Student Reviews website. What the students have to say in their own words tells you more about that college than any amount of campus tours.

Also I would have told myself something along the lines of:

"Quit talking yourself out of pussy. If your drunk and a girl gets drunk and you sleep in her bed, fuck her! Its not rape, she wants you to fuck her, she'll even ask you in a few months why you didnt do it you pussy! Dont ask her just rip her fuckin clothes off, cum inside her, then tell her to take the morning after pill. None of those girls want to be your friend, and all of them make shitty friends anyway, fuck all of them. Forget "screwing up friendships" and all that BS, they end up turning bitter and ruining your "friendship" anyway and worse part, you didnt get to fuck any of them before they let themselves go. And grow long hair, really long hair! Youll get so much pussy when you do."
