Travelled the world and now feeling lost

Hey everyone,
I´ve been an active reader on here and have to admit it gained me some really good knowledge and insights. But now I´m needing your help on a personal topic ..

So far to me:
I graduated with a Bachelor degree from University last year as I studied Sports and English. I was never really eager to become a teacher, but my parents said its a stable job and I wanted to do something with sports anyway. Sports has always been my main hobby on an active level and as a trainer and official. But I thought anything else in the Sports Field is too unsure to pursue, so I went that direction.
After my degree I travelled to Asia and Australia with a working Holiday Visa and had the time of my life ! Its been amazing months I will never forget. I was banging so many chicks and it was crazy the time. People say that you fall in a big hole after you return home. That didn´t happen for me gladly as I started to work in a big company with three shifts. It was also summer and I was doing activities outside and met my current girlfriend. And the great time kept on going.
But the last two weeks I feel into Post-travel depression. Its starting to get winter here in Germany and really cold and dark. I´ve not been used to it after three summers in a row. I can´t go out as its dark and cold already, but I feel to small and bored in my home. The weather really sucks, but now to my big problem.
After I came back and especially the last two weeks I feel really empty and actually don´t want to pursue my studies. I saw so many things, saw so many people and now I really don´t know what I want to do as a profession. It could be everything and nothing ! I am interested in becoming a banker or working in the finance field. I was never particular interested in it, but now I can imagine it. Or I could go to police, it also excites me. A pilot is something I also could imagine when I sat in the planes during m travels. Sports still excites me, but a lot less than before my travel. I feel like as I lived all my life in a small cubicle and now after I saw the world it opens so many possibilities. One day I can imagine to work really hard and make a big career and the other day I feel like having an easy job. I am not materialstic, but I am excited by the lifestyle around bankers. I am just really conflicted and don´t know what I want to become now and it makes me depressed as I am sad in my studies now. Sports teacher is a good and easy job, its pretty well paid in Germany and a lot of office workers regret not to become a sports teacher here. I´ve got my priorities in order in my life actually, but I don´t have that one big passion anymore. I am burning for everything. I´m thinking about just doing a new economics bachelor and master and work somewhere in the Marketing field in a 9 to 5 office jobs. But I would not be really motivated for that either.

Has anybody been in that situation before and can give me some advice ? Maybe I shoud see a job as what it is = It brings you money and thats the only purpose it has.

Cheers guys and thanks a lot already ! The forum has helped me immensly so far.

To quote that funny fellow:

In all you ve seen and done, are high academic studies a stepping stone to where you want to go in life?
You mention professions that involve a physicality such as sports teacher or police man, you speak with discontent about being a simple class room teacher.

You are the main character of your own story, and you can write some parts of it.
Do you want your character to be an unhappy one and/or bound to a code of conduct? A deviant? A villain? A hedonist? A disgruntled unmitivated office worker, a passionate reader of cavalry fiction that one day decides to become a vagrant knight himself?

We move between light and shadow, mutually influencing and being influenced through shades of gray...

I would have prefered that your first post were a Datasheet of Australia or Asia. You have been lurking for so long and now come for help.

I was in your position one year and half ago, To keep it short:

*You should add some words to your vocabulary. FOCUS, PASSION, GOALS, BALANCE.

There are 3 important pillars in every life: Health, Relationships and Money. If they aren´t in the same level, You would feel empty(your case).

You should focus in something that You really like (passion) and gives you Money. Plan something for the short, medium and long term(goals) and look for the balance in your life.

You weren`t sure to be a sport teacher, don`t give a fuck what your parents want for you. Be a man and take your own decissions in the future. Analyze every option and see the benefits and drawbacks.

No one will tell you How to live a happy Life?, everyone has different perspective. Sit down, write everything you have in mind, investigate and decide.

If Your life in Australia and Asia was amazing, What are you doing in Germany? Leave the place and look for job opportunities or options in your dream places.

One last thing, Don`t blame the weather, wear a special coat and go out, DarK? the world can be darker everytime. You have no idea what to do with your time? Easy, read a book, do exercises in house, check the forum, see our recommendated movies and also write a datasheet and drop us your knowledge.

Travel and banging backpackers, getting drunk each day and experiencing new things, seeing new sights and being in sensory overload is awesome.

OF COURSE you are going to be depressed going back to normal life.

Things will centre again for you if you head down and get back into the normal day to day life.

Or you can try and be a full time globe-rat, and keep traveling and banging until it gets boring.

I can understand where you're coming from after being back in America for the past year. After living in the Middle East for a few years and traveling around a bit, my life kind of came to complete halt with me coming back to America and the ending of my engagement.

What Drix said is probably the most meaningful post that'll help you figure out what you want to do. Even take a step further about those goals regarding your health, wealth, and your relationships by writing them down and posting those papers on your mirror for what you really want for your life. Every time you look at yourself in the mirror and those papers are surrounding you, you'll start to look at everything you've written down and reinforce you to evaluate if you're making a step forward to where you want to be to find your purpose. It's helped me immensely as now I've been dropping weight like crazy, smashing girls like crazy, building up my business, and planning to leave my hometown within the next year. I had to do a lot of soul searching for what I truly want from my life, and I'm afraid that's what you're going to need to do too.

You really just have to look deep inside to figure out what is that you really want. It's not going to come to you today, tomorrow, or even a couple of months from now, but it will comes with time. You are the master of your own destiny. No one else can tell you what is going to be good for you.

Op: Basically you found you were meant for a more fluid type of lifestyle and career. 9 to 5's aren't for everyone and some people want the vacation lifestyle forever.
I'd say that you should keep traveling and figure out opportunities to make some cash on the go, your vision will become clearer.
The downside of traveling (if you wanna call it that) is that you don't come back the same.

Life is good

Definitely agree with simondice... once you start hitting the road then that in itself can become a passion and it's dangerous.

At some point if you don't make for yourself a place in the world because to wander in this way would become for you a passion and this passion could leave you estranged from men and ultimately from yourself. The world can only be known as it exists in men's hearts. Even though it may seem like men exist in the world it's the other way around, the world exists in the hearts of men. So one must look within them and live with men and be among them not simply pass among them.

This is why it's so important to establish a home. People talk so much about traveling but there's more to life than constant exploring. That's not the natural way to live. You need to have at least a few constant things in your life. Traveling should be more of a lifestyle hobby than a lifestyle. Something extra that enhances your life but isn't the whole of it.

That's not how we do things in Russia, comrade.

Or, it could be that some guys need to travel more to find their home, the best environment for them. That's what traveling did to me, it made me realize that where I'm from is not where I want to settle down.

There are some valuable points in this thread.

Once you travel your home country becomes a foreign country and that's liberating.

You are licking the gelatin casing on the red pill. You haven't bitten it yet, nor swallowed any portion of it. Your travels are of value but you haven't done any of the real work to rewrite any of the lifelong brainwashing you received called education. You may have begun to undo a few assumptions in your wandering.

This isn't about travel or lack of travel. You are going for more of what ails you. You have what is called a false dichotomy. This degree vs that degree, this job vs that job. You are making selections as if one or the other will cure your misery but all the selections you see are more of the same.

Sorry to say but pilot is out for you. You will need to find your manliness in another way other than fancy titles and gadgets. It will be more satisfying when you find it internally as opposed to via the cool factor of a job. No more depressed German pilots allowed.

I meet German guys from time to time. It might be the most emasculated society on earth. You grew up with people telling you that your great grandparents did some bad things and therefore you must be very very very very very very nice and not show any manliness or have an opinion that is too strong or listen to any music from Spain where they shout while singing. Regardless of whether those terrible things that you were told your great-grandparents did are true or not what the fuck does that have to do with you? You see my point, you are much deeper in this than this degree vs that.

The good news? All of your problems are curable quickly. Start by waking up every day doing what you want consistent with what is important to you, instead of doing what a script tells you.

I graduated uni over a decade ago with the intention of continuing my studies to become a teacher, that plan got side tracked when I moved to western Canada and discovered that I could make twice as much money as a school teacher working in the oil industry and still travel for half the year. Then I spent the following ten years working my ass off among men, travelling the world, doing drugs, drinking like a sailor, banging dozens of women and collecting STDs. Now I have a bad back and am considering becoming a teacher. Funny how life works sometimes.

Check your vitamin D and B levels.

^ Lmao. Indeed!

OP- Try new stuff while you're young and have the energy. If something seems far fetched, try to sketch out a step-by-step plan of what you need to do to get there and do something each day that will move you closer to your goal.

There will always be universities and schools if you ever want to go back to them. You won't always have your youth or energy.

TL;DR: Wah, I spent several years of my youth not working and goofing off in tropical vacation destinations. Now that reality has set in(that I have to work), i'm depressed that life is actually hard and that I can't be a freeloader.

Man the f*ck up and get a job or start a business that affords you the free time you desire. You want adventure? Join the military.

When these big changes in your life, you will get depressed but it's only temporary! It also sounds like you have the winter blues and are at a cross road! You are unsure what to do...

I would write down all the pros and cons on the things you want to do! Choose one... if you don't like it, you can do something else! I've been in over 5+ different career types and tries many things where after trying, I know what I like doing and have great experience and learn many things! I can go back to doing these things easily or work in these job fields at anytime!

It's like learning game! It will not just help you in just picking up women but in other areas of your life! So pick something and enjoy the new adventure!!

I always find these threads funny. Guys sign up, say they love the forum, long time lurker, need help, promise to update (generally), and then never heard from again. But one of the purposes of the forum is to help men, so even if it is some selfish guy who just wants to take, maybe it helps others.

Every now and then, because for some reason I don't mind searching, I think it might be funny to make a "where did they go thread". But I'd do it for humor, hopefully not coming off like a bitter 40 year old SJW cat woman.

It's called Free Therapy session. People needs someone just to hear them out. so they go to therapy to dump their all of their stories by paying $100 an hour.

I guess it's ok since other people can read replies and learn something from it too.
