Laid low with chest infection - how to maximise this time

Firstly, forgive me if this is a dupe. I used the search function to no avail.

I've had a cold, which I tried to chase away with vitamins, exercise and early nights. Instead it's turned into a fucking infection.

I'm working on a novel, working as a freelancer and a barman in the evenings, and I have a focused fitness plan. This was all going well, until now.

So - how do I maximise this time. I find not working out extremely frustrating, but I know logically it's a bad idea plus I feel dreadful.

I have War and Peace and Anna Karenina in the bookcase. Is now a good time to pull them down?

Also, how can I stop this happening again? I eat well, take vitamins, exercise, don't drink to excess. Any other things I can do to not get sick, because I don't have time to spare for being ill.

Prevention - vitamin D 5000

Right now - Vitamin D50,000, Mucinex D if you have congestion, plenty of water and rest.

I like your question re how to optimize down time. I have a to do list a mile long including books i want to read and films and documentaries I want to watch. What I would do is attempt the most difficult highest priority item your energy level allows.

Also, you have to be setting longer term goals and work towards them a little each week.

Get the flu vaccine every year if possible and take some time off to de-stress.

Thank you both. I hate feeling weak, so I will take Vitamin D 50,000 and see if I'm eligible for the flu jag. In the UK it's more difficult to get unless you have asthma or another condition, but I'll look into going private.

Grey - thank you. I'm going to have a crack at War and Peace. I've seen it recommended on here a bunch of times and have always wanted to read it. I may also watch your debate at 2pm my time if energy allows.

on vaccines, i would not take it. they are not effective if you already have the disease, and at best there is a 1-2 delay until effectiveness.

the flu vaccine is particularly ineffective because there are maybe 100 different strains of flu and the manufacturer has to guess months in advance which one will be spread in the fall.

there is a big debate on how dangerous vaccines are due to various toxic preservatives they contain. in my view, the flu vaccine provides at best a very modest benefit weighed against potentially significant risks.

Flu vaccine is not 100% prevention. You can still get the flu, but your chances of getting the flu are significantly reduce. An viral infection can bed ridden you for a couple of days, but if your immune system is weak that leaves a chance of getting a bacterial infection. In the case of OP, lost of stress and working can weaken the immune system. Hence it advisable to get a vaccine.

As for vaccine safety, at the current moment there are no toxic preservatives that pose a risk to the population. There are problems with vaccine depending on the person's genetics, but no clear cut answer or research to draw upon.

Netflix and chill yourself. Binge watch whatever season or show you've been meaning to binge watch. Get all that crap out of your system.

Read books. Practice a foreign language. Make a female family member or friend come over and take care of you, cook your food, fluff your pillows, make you tea.

The possibilities are limitless.

Nice thread man.

I'm in exactly the same situation as you.

Walking around with a cold for to long while working, exercising and rating healty. Now it turned into a sinus infection.

Sucks after not having been sick for over 2 years.

I'm going to do some paperwork that I've been postponing and prep some meao's for the next days.

Ow yeah, masturbation also gives you 5 min of relief.
