Back to the subject, and on the more casual side, one of
my favorite boots is the Engineer boot, pioneered by Chippewa
early in the 20th century for field engineers. Here are some
vintage resoled classic American boots, and some new ones
in the original vintage style (which is harder to find today, as
brands like Frye or Durango have butchered the traditional style):

Recognizable by the strap with the buckle and the smaller
one on top. They are very comfortable riding boots, very
durable with the hard Vibram rubber soles. They've saved
my ankles on a couple of spills and feel great on, work really
well with rolled up jeans or khakis, provided they're not
skinny cuts:

The engineers boot used to have a side pocket for a ruler
or pen, kind of the equivalent of the nerd shirt pocket.
Since they are great riding boots and look badass, they
became the footwear of choice of biker gangs back in the 50s,
and the pocket was put to good use as a knife sheath, so
the boot companies dropped that feature...

One note about St Laurent: they are owned by the late Yves St Laurent's lover, Pierre Bergé, who is a very powerful figure in the French political scene, perhaps the leading social engineer in the country, aggressively pushing his homosexual agenda (commercialization of assisted procreation, gender confusion, child indoctrination etc) and pulling the strings in the Hollande administration. He owns Le Monde, the French NYT. He's actually a satanist, we know this because he published a satanist adult comic book back in the 1970s ("Vilaine Lulu"), and there is the ugly cloud of pedophilia hanging there as well...

I used to buy my suits there back in the 90s, I don't any more...

Saint Laurent is now owned by Kering group.

Excellent knowledge and sources being dropped on this thread.

For the staples I have seen prices anywhere from 700 USD to 1000 USD via endclothing or mrporter (my primary sources).

Kieran, the smooth calf leather is definitely more versatile and durable. That was a good call to go with the smooth leather, and potentially pick up a beige/light grey suede later on. The black suede really vibed with me and I have a pair of smooth leather zip boots already in the line up. The sneakers are sick too... I have contemplated the high tops, but the low tops are strong especially for a day shoe.

Yeah smooth calf has always been my favourite, but as I have somewhere around 8-10 pairs of Saint Laurent boots in black calf, I was trying to expand out a little, but while I like them on other people, they're just not for me. I need to see the new light cigar colour to see if it's anything close to the old beige colour used back in 2013 which I had and wore into the ground, then I'll go with them if it is.

I tried on the high top back in 2013 and I remember I didn't think it was really me - too American looking for my style, and the ankle is quite padded which isn't great for skinny jeans. The low top is perfectly minimal but sleek in shape, and they're a good option for things like carnival, festivals, raves, etc., when I don't want to wear smarter shoes.

After reading up on suits, I think it's best to avoid those designer brands all together and stick to companies that actually make suits such as Ermengildo Zegna, Brioni, Kiton, Isaia, Ralph Lauren Black/Purple Label, Oxxford, Brooks Brothers, Hickey Freeman.

Companies like Gucci, YSL, etc mostly outsource their suits to be made by the companies above anyways. For example Tom Ford is made by Ermengildo Zegna Couture, the only reason to buy a Tom Ford suit would be for their style of cut.

Great thread and some serious styles.

I am a shoe boot nut.

Red Wings make an awesome pair of Engineer boots, that look is dope. I don't think I have ever seen any guy sport those around where I live.

Timberlands are starting to make a bit of a comeback again, I don't want to ruin this thread by mentioning them. lol

Choice data sheet. I'm a yuge fan of half boots, especially in the colder part of the year.

The shoe shine guy near my office recommends that to remove salt from shoes, instead of water, use a solution white vinegar to get it off. You can Google around for more details.

Good find rudeboy

Those shoes in the links you posted cost 500$, but I got a pair from H&M that looks EXACTLY like it, for a discounted price of 20e

I was thinking I'll just get some good looking and cheap stuff to wear for a few months then throw away, but it's been a year and a half and this thing still looks nice, and surprisingly very very comfortable to wear. I once had to walk 2km in it after missing my bus, almost as comfortable as sneakers.

I haven't seen so much collection and versatility at one stop. I love that exotic maroon pair of shoes.
