Working with recruiters

I'm planning on leaving a position that a recruiter placed me in. This would be done before 3months of employment which is when recruiters typically receive their commision. The recruiter was great and I'm thinking about reaching out to him letting him know where I'm at and asking him if they are working on another role that I would be a better fit for. Anyone with experience working with recruiters know if this can backfire on me in anyway? I'm worried he might alert my employer before I'm actually out of here.

Remember that the recruiter doesn't work for you - you're the product. Their client is your boss. You're just about to make them look bad to their client AND cost them a fat commission.

Keep this in mind.

If you tell the recruiter, he will 100% call the company immediately to secure the next req. Not only are you taking his payday away, you also threaten his relationship with the company.

Find another recruiter. Find another job. And only alert this recruiter after you have signed the new offer letter. Then you can give notice later that day. If the new job search takes you past 3 months, then it's good for him. But don't try to use him for your next job.
