Odessa, Ukraine 2016 Datasheet

Great to have the odessa datasheet again on the top of the forum in this time of year.
I will be there about 20 th september, was there already 4 times, but unfortunately never longterm.
I LOVE that city despite all it sdownsides. The atmosphere, the sometimes mysterious attitude of the girls, the sleaziness sometimes, but there is so much warmth under the hard surface of that city.
Don t know the reasons but for me Odessa is holding some of my greatest successes in Ukraine.

Odessa summed up in this song from Basta/Gazgolder. He is from Rostov-na-Donu the twin city.

Odessa mama, Rostov papa )))

Rocha, I'm quite impressed (no ass licking) by your knowledge about Russian and Ukrainian rock/rap/pop ect.

Maybe you should start a "Russian Music" thread in the Everything Else section? .....be sure I will participate, I'm personally a huge fan, since long, of Russian rock/folk-rock and listen Nashe Radio on a regular basis - well, in fact it's the only radio I listen to, with Jam FM (Ukrainian rock radio). I'm pretty sure Ligurian, ect will have some good added-value perspectives and videos to post also.

I'm thinking about hopping over to Ukraine pretty soon. I'm on the fence about Odessa vs Kiev still.

How would you say the beach scene in Odessa compares to Barcelona?

It's a hell of a lot cheaper, that's for sure. If budget is an issue, Odessa no doubt.

I've only spent 5 days in Barcelona, which was marred by horrible weather. I would say that the club scene is about the same--can find really high talent (and prices), and that the beach clubs are fun in both spots.

I would say Odessa is probably better for just hanging out on the beach (i.e. renting a cabana of something of the sort).

For the rest of the city, BCN wins hands down. Much, much more to do.

I have received strong evidence that Vronski is previously banned member Prosal. Bans are permanent, so Vronski has been banned.

I already mentioned it in the Ukraine thread. I'll be in Odessa for a couple of weeks from Aug 21. Staying near Arcadia. Will definitely check out the places mentioned in this datasheet.

I have been in Odessa 4/5 days and leave today.

First time I came here was 2008...and tended to return every other year.

Not sure if I am looking back with rose tinted specs, however, do feel each time I come I see more and more fatties here....anybody else concur?

I will caveat that by saying we are not talking fatties in Uk numbers or proportions. Plus..there are shedloads of damn fine women here...and I aint banging enough of them so this is not a criticism of Odessa just an observation.

One other thing. I know it from years visiting the FSU but always shocks me everytime the couple mismatch.

Fair play to them. But fairly ugly, fat...poorly dressed locals with model types on their arm.

My none FSU visiting buddies never believe me....but just shows how bad the Uk dating market is.

40 years of Communism (plus, current economics hardships, come to think of it) have left some bad habits. Politeness and niceties were considered as non-proletarian (and a waste of time), and as such, frowned upon (during USSR times).

But, naturally, things are getting better in all the FSU, regarding the level of politeness of common people and even of (very badly paid, and I consider this as a quite valid excuse) shop attendants.

In any case, can people who make 200 usd per month, really smile and be courteous all day long? Would you?

After a while you will get used to it and become rude yourself. I remember how my mannerisms completely changed after staying in Russia for a while. People get intimidated by you as well. Maybe an advantage or disadvantage depending on how you look at it.

Why are lower-middle class Brits, Turks of (almost) any class, and young Israeli tourists freshly off the army and traveling in tightly-knit groups, rude? Because, like the fabled scorpions, it is their nature.

Also, I'd say they are rude because they are in a bad mood (on leaving Ukraine): the chavs got no sex (too busy getting stupidly drunk watching Liverpool-Everton in bars-for-foreigners on Arcadia), the Turks got (very bad) sex only from old, ugly and Moldovan prostitutes, and the young Israelis, after one month on the road (and 3 years in Tsahal), still haven't been able to deflower the girls from their group (and former battalion).

Anyway, you made my day: "Why are the Turks rude"?

Not sure I agree about being rude yourself. If I want to be, and need to be, I can be the hardest faced cu** out there. However, not sure I want to be rude to normal people doing a normal job for no reason....irrespective if whether or not they are in a so called "lower status" job...

The day I visited, last week, I saw a small but noticable number of fatties in Lvov, and a token ugly shorthaired lesbo out of the closet type. I am talking only about dating age single women; I did not notice these abnormalities in Kiev, not yet at least. I sense the western rot encroaching.

The "only makes 200usd" a month factoid is misleading, things (besides luxuries) are ten times as cheap. The currencies can't be directly compared, nor can the true quality of life. The working class Ukrainian eats far better than the average American, for one thing.

A lot of holidaying foreigners don't get sex in Odessa, regardless of nationality. That's why I don't really recommend the place for a short stay.

Odessa is a city of whores, many guys will go to a massage parlour or a brothel rather then splurge lots of money entertaining women. For the price of a few beers back home, they can get an erotic massage with two girls for an hour(allegedly)

Not sure I agree, working class Ukrainians eat some foul stuff, they consider somewhere like Puzata Hata luxury. They eat a lot of sausages because they can't afford real meat, and will scrimp on vegetables, fruit etc. Also Ukrainian food is super oily.

Some Americans eat a lot of shit, but also some good stuff. They look "Fat-healthy", overweight but good skin, whereas many Ukrainians have dodgy skin, especially further north and west

Im just reporting what i have seen, in my tour of central and west Ukraine. I haven't personally seen the foul stuff, even with locals taking me to places without menu Anglissky, far from the tourist track. Ukraine is an agricultural country with high quality and cheap domestic produce.

My girl who works in a shop says she goes to Puzata Hata every day, and my local contact took me there, for a weekday lunch, and said it was for ordinary Ukrainians. They people inside looked like average families, young working chickadees, old people not dressed well and looking rather hard up, it was packed and did not at all seem like a luxury; luxury to the working classes would be like a traditional Taras Bulba like restaurant with wait staff in national costume, all wood building, musicians playing, etc. The atmosphere in those places is the improvement, the food quality is not much different.

Restaurants in general like to use oil, its a cheap way to cook and make things appealing to the average customer. I don't see any greater use of it, compared to USA.

My take is the Americans who eat better are the upper middle types who shop at whole foods and farmers markets and do not come close to constituting the average american's diet. If you are a higher-income American, you eat better than the average Ukrainian, but for the vast majority of Americans, they have GMO corn and soy, fast & frozen food nastiness. The typical Ukrainian guy simply has better food, hotter girlfriend, and superior culture to the typical American and his McDonald's/Walmart "Kultur".

Puzhata Hata is not that cheap, to be full there as a man you need to spend at least 100 UAH which is 4 hours wages for many. If you go to the suburban areas then you will see the soup kitchen type places where the prices are half.

Yes fruit and veg are good quality, doesn't mean they all eat healthy. Also as I mentioned they cannot afford the choice cuts of meat, many opt for sausages, meatballs, and other low quality protein.

We're talking about diet not girlfriends

There's a reason that Ukrainians have such a low life expectancy, and it's more than Vodka

Get out of here.

If you want to call expired meats, and old bread "better", then sure. After rent expenses, and everything else, Ukrainians don't have much left over for food and whatever else. My girl in Kyiv earns roughly $600 USD a month, makes her own food, but I couldn't survive on what she eats. Don't even get me started on the smoking epidemic in Ukraine, and most of EE if we're being honest.

Absolutely true. Average Ukrainians (who actually make LESS than 200 euros, I know it seems incredible, but it's true), I know some of them, eat not a lot of food, you would be surprised. I know normal Ukrainian families eating potatoes, and potatoes ravioli, and potatoes, and a bit of sour creme, with water, for days on. I have given them chocolate and peaches, and have received grateful stares from malnourished kids.

You don't believe me? Take a marshrutka out of Odessa, drive 40 minutes, get out, look at how malnourished the kids look. Not Somalia-like, but definitely noticeable. That's the reality beyond Kiev' or Odessa' city centers...

I don't know how Ukrainian girls survive on what they eat, when you see them go to a restaurant they will often just have some watery soup with a meatball in it, and some bread.

I sometimes feel guilty when I go food shopping, people are looking at my food on the conveyer belt like wolves, a lot of people cannot afford any meat, and as I work out i'm ordering kilos of steaks etc.
