Free VPN providers

This is an effectively infinitely complex subject.

it depends what you want to do.

Many things are achievable.

Cost/benefit/time spent/conveniance etc.

The good news is, for most people, the ones that aren't planting bombs or trading in kiddy porn, well, there are real world solutions for your privacy/anonymity if you are prepared to put a little effort in.

I have a particular security need, as I have spoken about several times here. I live in a country with an oppressive regime with all communications being monitored and stored and shared, both commercially and state wide. The UK.

So far, I can hold back the tide. They will make VPN illegal for private use in a few years time. These are the good days.

Yeah, I know the NSA have it all anyway with cable taps and whatnot, but still, Doris at no. 56 has never liked me. It wouldn't be good optics if she could print out a data-sheet for the neighbours, where she shows my deep passionate love for barely-legal (but still legal) Japanese teens tied up, taken in every hole, by encephalopods.

Just made the last bit up. But sounds good to me!

Probably time for bed.

TunnelBear is good for me. It's free but limited 1 GB per month.

There is nothing free exist in this world, However, there are tons of VPN providers in the marketing who are claiming themselves as free VPN but if you are really serious about your online privacy then avoid them go for any cheap VPN provider like a cyber ghost then go with free VPN. I would avoid "free" anything when it comes to technology especially VPN traffic.

They can easily capture your info as it passes through, otherwise known as a man in the middle attack.

Tor is very much subject to this also.

Tor is very much subject to what? Tor was developped by CIA... its one of the most secure way to browse the net...

Everything you need to know about VPN.

This is actually the best site for VPN comparaison, with this chart = https://thatoneprivacysite.net/vpn-comparison-chart/

For mainstream VPNs I would recommend iVPN and AirVPN according to this chart.

The best VPN currently on the market is considered to be MULLVAD. Thats because you pay in crypto and you dont even need an email to register, they give you a random account number instead.

And you can use MULLVAD for free for 3 hours each time. Then just create a new account and repeat.

I use a protonmail email address for my security needs. They offer a VPN service I hear is good, though it may be on the expensive side. Personally I wouldn't trust any free VPN.

I was also one of the first user of protonmail. Their VPN offer is recent. According to few reviews, their VPN is nothing special tho. Plus better not to put multiple eggs in the same basket, use a different company that are not linked.

Does anyone have decent feedback with regards to NordVPN, in particular with what concerns security?

Does the fact Proton's servers are located in Switzerland make a difference at all?

I'd really like to change my email provider (for my private domain) from Google to Proton, but problem is the Google Drive storage & google apps utility are quite irreplaceable....

I am in the same situation since Google removed the "dont be evil" from its code of conduct. Its not joke.
So I created a second account that is linked to storage and android, and I will delete my main one.

Uh? what does it mean ?
That doesnt sound like it solved your problem. Instead now you have two accounts rather than 1.

I will use that new google account only to sync my android phone numbers. Not gonna use it for personal email or anything sensitive. My old gmail that I used for years as personal email will be deleted. Hopefully after 6 months retention period my data will be totally erased.

Mysterium, apparently the first decentralised VPN has recently released a Windows, Mac and Android client. It's currently free to use while in beta. Has a good team and good backing. Later it will be powered by paying in their Ethereum token, which will be distributed to people hosting Mysterium nodes.

I've given it a try and it was good enough to watch videos.
