A man has been arrested after he destroyed a 126-year-old statue – after attempting to take a selfie with it.

The sculpture, of a 16th-century Portuguese king, reportedly shattered after a man mounted it.

The man lifted himself onto the statue’s pedestal, causing it to crumble, and then attempted to flee the scene – but was caught by police.

He will be brought before a judge at a later date.

The statue, which outside the Rossio railway station in central Lisbon, is of Dom Sebastiao.

He was King of Portugal and the Algarves from June 1557 to August 1578. He disappeared during the battle of Alcácer Quibir in Morocco.

This statue stood valiantly for nearly 120 years, only to be destroyed by a selfie taking faggot in 2016. Hopefully he gets killed by a falling rooftop gargoyle final destination style.

I firmly believe immediate execution should be the punishment. They destroy priceless national treasures just to get a selfie. They do not deserve a chance to potentially destroy another.

This happened where I live in Chiang Mai, Thailand about a year ago to a Spanish dude. Rolling through the pages of the website you will notice quite a few tourists/foreigners wiping themselves off the planet with stupid behaviour.

When I was traveling in Europe there were foreigners *cough migrants* selling selfie sticks everywhere. Seriously, in over 7 countries... selfie sticks everywhere. Fuckin' hell.
