Movies/Shows You Don't Mind Seeing Over and Over

I agree with so many choices I've seen here. Excalibur, Robocop, Last of the Mohicans, Predator, Gladiator off the top of my head.

One I haven't seen mentioned yet is Midnight Run. Just perfect. If I'm channel-surfing and this comes on I end up watching it till the end. Who knew at the time that De Niro would become such a disappointment.

The first Jurassic Park has a special place in my heart. As a Dinosaur nerd I'd waited all my life to see realistic Dino's on screen. Before 1993 all we had was stop-motion Harryhausen plasticine (beautiful by the way) or Iguanas with cardboard spikes glued to their backs. 1993 was pre-internet and there was hardly any spoilers on UK tv of what the dinosaurs actually looked like. I know this, because I looked at the time!

This was the one and only movie I went to see alone! It felt that special, I just wanted to watch it by myself. I've got goosebumps just typing this as I recall how my teenage self felt when the T-Rex made his attack in the rain. I've never felt anything like it watching a movie before or since. If you weren't into Dinosaurs, Harryhausen and Paleontology, or didn't spend your childhood making realistic dinosaur dioramas and prehistoric landscapes from plasticine and papier-mache,then you might not understand!

Good call! Reminds me of staying up to watch the Brexit results come in. I'll never get tired of watching their arrogance and pomp slowly deflate as reality starts to bite. Happy days!

Shows:

Benny Hill....totally mostly cheesy and outdated. I used to watch this show every night as a kid here in Toronto and laughed my ass off.

But now as a adult looking back I know there is absolutely 0 chance this show would air on TV today with the feminist/SJW movement, not to mention religious people.....there'd be real outrage and protests to get it removed. I don't think any studio give Benny Hill a chance either.

Openly groping and fondling women. Blatant voyeurism. Mild nudity. Mostly sexual themes. In the 80s as kids me and my brothers watched this as harmless fun.

No wonder my visiting granny walked in and turned off the TV saying: "I don't want you kids watching that dirty old man". This used to come on 9pm on the Prime time segment.

Tex Avery.....the OG that brought never before seen slapstick humour to mostly to date at the time...bland cartoons. Even though some of his stuff was blatantly racist.....he was simply a genius and FAR ahead of his time.

I would re-watch a lot of the movies from our old Movie Club thread, though some I would replace. For example, Sicario is one of the best films to come out in the past few years, and has more repeat value than a simpler film like All Is Lost:

Aliens (1986)

Its the best sequel ever made.

What's with all the love for Heat?

I don't understand how anyone could repeatedly watch a film that has two male leads who spend the entire movie with a look on their faces that strongly suggests that they need to go to the can so fucking bad, they're prairie-dogging it.

I'll get roasted for this, but I fucking these high concept films from the prior century and Armageddon is everything I want in a film.

I don't how Michael Bay got stuck down a hole making Transformers films, his one off films when rooted in real characters and sets, were fantastic and intense and exactly what an an traditional high concept/adventure blockbuster film should be. Armageddon has a fantastic charismatic cast that would have made anything work, Critics hate the hell out of him but bizarrely love any shit Disney/Marvel pump out when it is often of a lesser caliber, but contrary to popular belief he has immense talent, your film doesn't get put in the Criterion collection for nothing.

The last decade has been so utterly plagued by comic book films in replacement for original concepts like this (even if unrealistic, but exponentially less so than superheroes).

The incompetence of government is there too, this is probably the most realistic part of the film, true to life in how they would eff it up, so much for the American jigonism they always throw at Bay, I wonder is it also partly because he's Republican?:

Give me a scene that gives me shivers like this Hollywood this decade, you can't...you're lost.

1:18 painted against the US Flag for imagery, incredible stuff.

Yeah a double shuttle launch would never happen, but I simply don't care because I only found out people could be autistic when I discovered the internet, give me an adventure Hollywood that actually moves me.

I also like the soundtrack and Aerosmith song unironically.

The Rock is also highly rewatchable.

How did I forget Scarface too? Its a cliche choice, but that should have been first on my original list, its easily the most rewatchable! Mother of god, the soundtrack. Everything works so well and makes you want more:
