How can we bring back the verb "to ball" as to have sex?

Thanks for the history lesson. I love learning about the origin of words. I have heard "to ball" on a few occasions, and it really made an impression. It has greater resonance than "to shag," or "to bang," or any of the other expressions people use today.

Led Zeppelin used it with Hey, Hey, What can I do?

It was revived recently for the film Sideways (2004) when the character sarcastically uses it with his friend Jack.

You can also see Herbert Kornfeld of the Onion use it, but the Onion is, of course, a satirical magazine.

As you probably know, "baller" and "balling" are terms used mainly by urban youths today, but in a different context sometimes leading older people to believe that this "euphemism" for sex is coming back.

Older examples can be found in the movie Joe (1970) when a hippy girl uses it with the middle-aged protagonist.

If you're a true-crime buff, you will find that Dr. Jeffrey MacDonald uses it extensively in Fatal Vision by Joe McGinnis. When questioned about his extramarital affair, the doctor, who is suspected of homicide, responds, "Big deal. I balled her!"

So, if there are any ways to revitalize old-school slang, I would appreciate some suggestions. I did use it socially and it got some laughs from the men present, but I haven't tried it around women. One person, a rather prudish gent from the UK, responded with "you need to find another word than 'to ball.'

Perhaps using it online a few times might popularize it, and then I can make the venture to use it out in public more.

Come live in the Netherlands, 'ballen' as a verb is still used here, referring to the act of sex.

Actually, I would much prefer the term dame to come back over the term balling.

When I think of dames, I think of fast talking, fast thinking, but ultimately submissive women of the movies of the thirties and forties, women like Rosalind Russell in His Girl Friday:

Or how about Barbara Stanwyck in Ball of Fire?

And also, especially, Irene Dunne in The Awful Truth.

In this scene she tries to win her ex husband back by pretending to be his trashy sister and embarrassing him. Classic old school screwball comedy. Sound starts at ten seconds.

Those long dead, old school dames are the best.

Get Roosh to re-title his series of books from Bang... to Ballin...

He's pretty open to this kind of thing from what I understand.

While you're at it, he could replace 'sluts' with 'dames'.

I think this would be a good start. Send him a PM & see what he says.

If you like the word, just use it.

Calling women "broads" is great and really seems to piss off hipster/SJW types. I highly recommend it.

Obligatory, due to every girl I've banged in the last ten years being way too into this film:

Never heard 'ball' used in my life other than 'Good Golly Miss Molly', as mentioned earlier. I'll just stick with the classic Aussie expression, that's seemingly-passed down to each succeeding generation without fail:

I use the word broad liberally, and I also use the word dame once in a while. I have personal interpretations of both in these modern times.

Stalin's Definitions of Derivative Diction:

broad
noun
1. A derogatory term for a female; a woman who typically shows mild undesirable traits such as gracelessness, loud mouth, unintelligent, or uncouthness.

Synonym: bimbo
Antonym: dame

dame
noun
1. A term of endearment for a female denoting class and beauty as well as grace, intelligence, and femininity.

I was going to let this guy slide for being new, but I can't take this shit anymore.

Maybe it's not the Bozzzzz, but the statements made by RB are so idiotic, we are all dumber just by reading this thread.

You think making a few social media posts are gonna change shit? Get real.

It's not just "urban youths" using it in a different context, it's everyone on the planet, EXCEPT YOU and some dumbass in a boring white bread wine movie from 2004.

Ballin' is going to mean 'living large' until Jiggaman and Yeezy decide it means something else. You have zero influence in the matter and by trying to change the name-game to something no one wants makes you sound incredibly old, dumb, or- probably- both. So have fun going against the mega-stars of hip-hop, let us know how that works out for you.

Beat it, nerd.
