Android Data Recovery Services?

Got some kino and kissing in with a girl at a lounge recently & took her number before jetting off. Even her Whatsapp synced into my phone so I decided to take a screenshot of her picture.

Next thing you know, I see that her contact info is gone from my phone. This has been a slight reoccurring issue with my Samsung S5 lately. In order to counteract that, I've typically taken screenshots of a girl's "actual number" instead of just her Whatsapp picture in case the contact is lost. In this case, I just snapped a picture of the girl's name/face....as the contact is now gone.

Are there any good apps or programs I can download onto my laptop to recover contacts and files? The only one I can find now is Fonepaw Android Data Recovery, but it's $50.00 USD per year. Any help would be great. Thanks!

Had the problem on s5 mini before. Two programs come to mind, though they don't work all the time I believe. Easy to google by the way.

1: Check out RecoveryAndroid. It has a few days free trial. I used it for some pics and it worked.
2: Also downloaded Jihosoft Android Phone recovery. Did not work with me, perhaps you have better luck.

Once on an approach, I got the number.
Registered it to my google account.
The connection was off, so the number "vanished".

Suggest when you take the number do one of the following:
1. Classic - call to validate it.
2. Save it to your SIM card and/or phone memory.
3. Validate that it was saved on your google people directory.

I'm not sure a "recovery" program will work for you. A contact isn't a file but an entry in a "contacts" database. What you may want to get in the habit of doing is backing up your contacts, especially after you add a new contact.

I do this the "opposite" way. The phone is a client of a Microsoft Exchange (hosted) email account with contacts and calendar. It updates every second. Any changes made on the phone or any other client such as the laptop are made to the server. This way it does not matter at all what happens to the phone. ($10 a month or so.)

Turn around your way of thinking of it. The idea of "backing up" contacts is outdated. You are instead having a constantly updated contacts in your server, and the phone can be replaced at any time and the contacts will appear within minutes on a new phone that you add your exchange account to.

You can still use google to backup the actual android "settings."
