Zach Snyder already directed a feminist grrrl power fantasy it was called Sucker Punch and it flopped hard.

Did you see it? The fantasy bit is right, but given what happens to the protagonist I don't think the grrl power bit fits. I liked it, though the ending was disturbing.

Honestly I got about halfway in and turned it off, is it worth watching all the way through?

This is what happens when women get out of the kitchen and become "career orientated don't need no man independent women!" - they eventually devolve into militant psychotic feminist pieces of filth with a lust for victimhood.

Yet another reason why I wish i could time travel back to the 50s.

WNB because of potential false rape accusation...
Whenever i'm talking to a potential piece of ass i always ask myself "will she accuse me of rape 6 months after i stop talking to her?"
If the answer is yes, i just let the conversation die and walk away.

This is why i never ask females for their opinion on anything anymore. Most of the time they are uninformed as fuck and if by chance they are informed they have some backwards ass theory that once said out loud makes you wonder if you and her are even talking about the same thing.

In Czechoslovak Socialist Republic there was trend that people who was not brainwashed by communist propaganda went only to movies which were bashed by "official state reviewers", I will honour this tradition by going to spend money on this movie.

I mean if it pisses of feminists and other SJWs then it must be worth watching.

I just rewatched it. First of all, I'm not the most critical movie viewer. I can forgive certain weaknesses because I just fill them in mentally, and as such there are lots of movies I enjoy that don't do that well with the general public.

It was better than I remembered, actually. The ending is good and not obvious, and not really disturbing as it turns out. It all ties together at the end. I don't want to say anything about the plot since I don't know how far you got, but I stand by my assertion that it is not a grrl power movie.

Good cast, no real weaknesses there. Carla Gugino and Oscar Isaac are high on my list, and I wasn't sorry to watch Emily Browning* run around in sexy outfits the whole time.

It was visually pleasing in all respects, and some of the actions sequences were very cool. Others were fucking irritating with the constant slow motion when it wasn't really called for. I appreciated the generally good gun handling by sexy women, and the fight choreography was solid (though there was obviously artistic license taken). The girls being badass was fine because it clearly wasn't meant to be real.

I suspect it got panned because it was kind of confusing until the last 10 minutes, and it came out like 9 months after Inception so people say it was a ripoff simply because both stories largely took place in the minds of the characters. Nevermind that the technique wasn't invented with Inception, and the plots had essentially nothing in common. [Image: rolleyes.gif]

* I like Emily Browning a lot, but she has got to be one of the worst cases of short hair ugliness I've ever seen. I thought Ginnifer Goodwin was bad, since she looks like a fucking goblin with short hair, but observe:

Good, I like the blonde hair. Of course she's made up.

Still pretty good, could use some eyeliner or something to darken her eyes. I'm a sucker for pale brunettes.

Ehhh...

[Image: Legend+Guardians+World+Premiere+4vTaLB8yOY7l.jpg]

Why would you do this?

I'm way off on a tangent now, but seriously, what the fuck. Why do these girls with round faces ever cut their hair? That shit is never going to look good. If you're a chick and your name isn't Morena Baccarin or Halle Berry, you really need to keep your hair at least shoulder length and preferably to mid back. Do these actresses all sign a contract when they get to Hollywood that they must get a terrible short haircut at some point?

So they referred to Wonder Woman as a "meta-human" in the new film.
She has super human powers & gear.
She managed to attack & chop the hand off of the most powerful creature in that cinematic universe (for all intents & purposes).
She states in the film that she's defeated other alien creatures before.
As for the other female characters; does she really expect a reporter or a mom to go toe-to-toe with gun packing mercenaries?

Yet that's still not good enough for some feminists. It's never enough...

Haha. I wonder if she'd agree to Bruce Jenner being cast as Wonder Woman instead. [Image: rolleyes.gif]
Plus I see she doesn't bother to mention all the lowly men who get injured, shot, killed.

Everything but a grrrl power fantasy, if vigilantcitizen is to be believed: Sucker Punch

It is actually a rather sinister movie.

Wonder Woman has stayed the same mainly because in most versions of the character she's the child of the fucking Greek gods. She's practically immortal. About the oldest she's ever been was in Mark Waid's (glorious) take on the character in Kingdom Come ... in which Bruce Wayne has white hair, Superman is just about to enter the look of a fortysomething guy, and she -- at the very end of the story -- gets her first white hair.

This is like complaining that though Iron Man has gone through about 20 versions of his armour, Thor is still wielding a hammer and wearing winged helmets.

Me, one of my favourite takes on the character was the XXX parody version:

The same porn actress did a porn parody version of Agent Scully. The costume alone had more production values than most attempts at Wonder Woman on TV.

If you're going to watch it, watch the R rated director's cut. I hear that version makes a little more sense and adds plot. It's also worth noting the Anita Sarkeesian attacked the movie for being "too sexy".

As for Wonder Woman I would have suspected that they'd at least given some props for that at least. WW is suppose to be this feminist icon (at least for first and second wave feminists).

I actually liked the fighting that wonder woman does. She fights. Holds her own and doesn't look to a male to save her.
The reason i don't have a problem with it is because she's been a strong fighter longer before feminism became fashionable

Sucker Punch is great and not at all grrl-power. Yes there's girls and they're fighting. But it's in their heads. They're really mostly powerless.

And yes, the R-rated directors cut version is essential. The theater release cuts any mention of sex, for some reason, and makes the movie pretty confusing.

One feminist reviewer got pissed because at one point Doomsday hits WW and she goes tumbling to the ground - she gets to her hands and knees, grabs her sword and gives a smile before going back into combat.

She gives the smile because she LOVES a good fight. But the reviewer said it indicates a woman who has experienced a lot of abuse and has learned to smile her way through it. The same way women are sexually abused by their partners but act like sex is something they enjoy just to get along.

Of course that's why she smiled.

I remember back in the day when we didn't hear this horseshit about movies, it was either bad or good. Then the internet brought all kinds of opinions out of the woodwork.

"A stripper last night brought up "Rich Dad Poor Dad" when I mentioned, "Think and Grow Rich""
