Is Montreal still worth a visit in 2016?

I live in NYC and I'm looking for a place close by to escape to for 3 or 4 days. What are your thoughts on Montreal?

Housing there is dirt cheap (posh Airbnb would run me less than $100 a night in downtown), the flight is cheap, and overall it looks to be a fun, eventful city.

A few things holding me back from booking right: increase of feminist movements there, supposed shitty weather, I don't speak French.

Thoughts?

For a small escape and something cheap, I would say go for it! The crazies are mostly the Anglo university students, and the general vibe over there is not a hateful one. However by not speaking French, you'll be limited to the Downtown core, and will have to use outsider NYC Game when you speak to the Quebec chicks. Also March isn't the best time to visits since the Winters are harsh, and people aren't in a festive mood like in the summer. Definitely wait for the summer if you can!

The weather should be warming up by the, check out the music and food scene besides just going there to game. You'll have more to do than just chasing tail. Check out the plateau for shows and new city gas if your into EDM and raves.

Absolutely worth the visit for food scene and chicks. It's a really fun place in the summer. You won't be bothered by feminists at all. PM me if you want area recommendations/things to do.

Initial pipeline going well so far. Seems most women on Okcupid have the "Sex-Driven" personality trait lol.

I still got some free days in late april for a quick trip, is Montreal worth going too? I live in the North East, so I'm not allergic to cold weather.

I haven't been for a few years but I think from NYC it's a perfect weekend or long-weekend escape. You're close enough that you can drive in maybe 6 hours if you don't waste too much time at the border. I'm not sure it's worth flying.

Late May is a perfect time to go. By the summer proper it can actually have some uncomfortably hot stretches (and many places don't have AC) but when I've been there, it's been as the weather has been warmer. It's like any other city that spends a big chunk of the year in very cold weather. The people have been so cooped up they all want to get outside and do stuff. Big outdoor eating and drinking scene. In my experience there's a palpable joie de vivre because everyone knows they need to enjoy the weather while it lasts.

I said the same thing as Captain Gh said a while back - the crazy people are heavily biased toward Anglo students. stay away from Concordia and McGill student scene and I'm sure you'll be fine. Not speaking French has never been an impediment to me there.

Wow, 6 hours, that's not bad at all. A bit longer than it takes to get to Boston.

Why do you suggest avoiding McGill or Concordia students?

Great stuff in this thread. I just moved to NYC a month ago and I've always wanted to visit Montreal again. Haven't been since I was a kid. I'm shooting you a PM NextStop.

Because they're nests for SJW and feminists.

Montreal is still a great city, good to visit as a Tourist.

Easily my favourite city in Canada.
