DATASHEET: Utrecht - underrated student city in Netherlands and trip report.

Introduction and reasons to visit:

Utrecht is a student city in Netherlands. It takes 40 minutes by train to get there from Amsterdam Schiphol. It has much less foreigners than Amsterdam and ratio of girls to guys is much more favourable. It has a population of around 300000 and Utrecht University alone houses more than 30000 students. Judging by my Netherlands experience the only other city to compete would be Groningen, also a student city.

Here is some information of demographics from Wikipedia:

Utrecht has a young population, with many inhabitants in the age category from 20 and 30 years, due to the presence of a large university. About 52% of the population is female, 48% is male. The majority of households (52.5%) in Utrecht are single person households.
That sounds good right?

I personally came to Netherlands for some work in Rotterdam and decided to stay for 4 extra days and visit Utrecht.

Logistics, accommodation and transportation:

Rent in Utrecht is expensive. I was renting an apartment via AirBnb for 75 euros a day. You can find a cheaper place, but even hostels start at 20 euros. I was trying to find a place as close to Old city center as possible. You can rent a bike from most of the hosts on AirBNB for around 5€ per day, sometimes it is even included in price of rent. Get the bike and be like everyone else.
Holland is a relatively small country. Advanced train system makes it seem even smaller.

Language:

Dutch people are best non native English speakers that I have ever encountered. Everyone speaks English and our target auditory speaks it very well.

Online game:

Online game in Holland is very quiet. Although I am quite good looking and have nice pictures I did not get good results. I normally use Tinder and Badoo. I was maxing out my matches on free Tinder and only getting 1 mach every few days. Out of 2 matches only one would lead to a chat.
Badoo is at the death's door. I tried it for a week here in Holland and got 2 matches, out of which both were fake account, with links to other sites.

Day game:

Daygame was not easy. It is cold in February. You rarely encounter a good looking girl walking alone. The big problem is that everyone is cycling. And Dutch girls are really fast on bikes. So unless you are willing to risk you're life don't try to stop them.

Generally area around old city center, around exit from train station and shopping mall inside the train station "Hoog Catharijne" are most crowded and best suited places for day game.

Night game and venues:

From Wednesday to Saturday Utrecht has a busy nightlife. Normally people pre drink in small bars/cafes around the city, then move to dance clubs around 1 am.

Good pre drinking area is Neude square. There is a line of bars located next to each other. Delphin, cafe t neutje, desperados, cafe le journal, tapperij de luifel, de beurs. My favourite was De Beurs because you can run some game there due to its layout. Here is a photo of this place

Also located on the other side of Neude square is Chupitos shot bar. It opens around 23.00 and is extremely busy every night. They make some nice and not expensive shots and make a great show serving them. So get ready for some Rammstein style fires how (extreme exaggeration).

Good dance clubs area is located about 300 meters away from Neude, with 4 danceclubs situated around Janskerk.
Club names: Filemon, Parkhuis, Hoofman, Woolomolo.

All days except Saturday the entrance to these places is free and you only have to pay wardrobe fee. But after you leave your jacket feel free to roam around all clubs in just your t-shirt as clubs are closely situated.

My favourite was Filemon. Slightly larger than others with more conventional club music and older public 20-25. Its normally crowded but you can still move.

Parkhuis is a place for 18-20 year old crowd. With a lot of Dutch music playing. Way too crowded for comfort.

Cafe Hoofman is less techno and more 70s, 80s, 90s and some Latin music. Cool place with a nice crowd and stand-up comedy show on Wednesday. I must say watching stand-up in language you don't understand is an interesting experience. Still funny though.

I did not visit Woolomolo.

Around 5 in the morning the crowd moves to Night diners for some Shawarma and kebab. Do follow them as its a nice way to socialise and game.

Then there is a huge dance club Tivoli busy Thursdays-Saturdays. It has impressively huge dance area with amazing sound system. But going there to meet women is useless as 80% of them are in drugs holding bottles of water and doing funny movements with their mouths.

Other hard Techno clubs are Poema and Basis. But I did not visit them after I've learned how widespread use of ecstasy is at techno places.

I've heart some good things about Puma club and student parties on Tuesdays. But had no chance to attend as I arrived on Wednesday.

Night life is quite scattered and spread so I might have missed out on some nice places. So if there are locals on forum do comment!

Social circle game:

By far the best game to run in the Netherlands. But I had no time to for it. It takes months to develop a social circle and I was there for only 4 days.
I have previously attended a party thrown by "Rotterdam" (cool German guy from forum) in Rotterdam and it looks like he is doing very well with that type of game.

Salsa game

Everywhere I travel I attend salsa parties. I am an intermediate dancer, but salsa parties is a great way to meet quality women.
Normally ratio on salsa parties is good, but I've learned that in the Netherlands salsa parties are sausage fests. Nevertheless, I had 3 dances with prettiest girls, and gamed them after that, they were all really nice and of course all had boyfriends. Taught one newbie basic steps and got her number.

Positive things:

Beautiful women. I would say dutch girls beat the whole western Europe in the looks department. I especially appreciate the Frisian beauty. Kind of like Doutzen Kroes, she is Frisian. This subject has already been discussed before somewhere on this forum.

Dutch girls have curves. You can often see some asses, tits and nice long legs.

Good English skills.

Never an openly negative reaction. If you get rejected it is always in a polite manner.

It is a safe area with a lot of things to see when you don't feel like gaming, or need some rest.

Good chance to meet foreign students (I've met some gorgeous Spanish HB 8.5 in Hoofman and a 7 Mexican. Of course both had boyfriends...)

Negative things:

Being a foreigner is a DLV. Dutch girls seem to like dutch guys and meet them mostly through social circle.

Approaching in clubs and street game is not as efficient as in other places I've visited.

99% of HB7 and higher had boyfriends. And not just as a poor excuse. Sometimes guys were standing right next to them.

Feminism is deeply embedded in Dutch women.
Girls often behave like men and lack femininity. They walk in huge steps and don't move their hips.
I've even seen open statements on Tinder, saying I am feminist. As if it is a good thing. And these girls had bitchy behavior.

You often see good looking, fit, groomed Dutch guys with below average looking girls.

Expensive

Meetup:

Would like to say thanks again to "Fury" and "Stimulus" for a great meetup on Saturday.

Trip report:

I will not go in detail about all my activities. Will just provide short list of my adventures these 4 days. And why despite the fact that I did not get laid, I still think this trip was a success.

I have approached all top 3 good looking girls in every venue that I've visited. Normally that was difficult for me, but these time I had no chance. I just did not dig others.

Befriended a group of Italian law students on the street, who were visiting for 1 day, and had dinner with them in 5 minutes after meeting them. There were 6 or 7 girls and 2 guys. Was cool, as I literally have never met Italian women before.

I've watched stand up comedy in Dutch. Trust me that is something you have to try. Just to experience how deeply embedded is the herd mentality. When everyone is laughing you start laughing as well.

Met Spanish and Mexican girls and practiced my Spanish. I've been learning it hard last few months with Duolingo and watching Argentinian soap operas with English subtitles, and it was actually the first time I was able to speak, and to my surprise, I could actually convey my thoughts.

After watching RDS Tyler (Owen) videos got inspired and tried to make 2 girl kiss on a party. Girls were roommates, and after some struggle they first kissed for 1 second, and then went into a long make out session. Honestly it was cool but I did not know what to do next, as I was not a part of it, and felt out of place.

Went to a couch surfing monthly meeting in a bar 300 meters away from my place. Turned out the meeting was exactly one week ago. I ended up being part of some student meet up. Played drinking games, had great time, practiced my Spanish again with a chubby Spanish student girl. Gamed cute Australian chick, which apparently had a boyfriend. Made a cool dutch friend, slightly red pill, who brought me to Tivoli and was not a bad wing man. Tickets to a big party with some good DJ were sold out but we ended up getting in for free because bouncer thought that he new my new friend [Image: biggrin.gif]

Kissed my first ever Eritrean girl, after cold reading approach that she was Ethiopian. Almost brought her home but LMR went in on the exit from the club.

Lost my voice on the last day after 4 nights of talking in loud environments and drinking cold beer in February

My overview of a trip to Utrecht and my verdict:

Please note that my judgement might not be adequate as my previous destination was Ukraine.
I must say game in Western Europe is hard. Its nothing new. But if you do choose to come here Netherlands might be a better option. Don't go to Amsterdam/Rotterdam sausage fests. Go to either Utrecht or Groningen or other smaller more Dutch populated student cities.
I've worked hard with over 50 day/night approaches in 4 days and pipe lining Tinder few weeks in advance and all I've got in return was 10 numbers, 0 dates, 3 kiss closes, one missed opportunity of ONS (my fault) and one LMR at the club exit.
I've invested more effort than ever before and gotten the worst result from it so far.
I think "Fury" and "Stimulus" can attest to my efforts.
The girls I like HB7 and above literally all had boyfriends and were not receptive at all. And I was not interested in girls that liked me. I have been opened quite a few times by 5s.
Never go to western Europe from Ukraine the transition is just too harsh. I went from being opened by 7s in Kiev saying I look like a prince. To approaching 7s myself with no results.
I am sure if I would stay just 3 more days longer I would get some lays, as I still have some good leads, but I've already had tickets booked.
Home for 1 weeks and then Thailand and Philippines are waiting for me.

Some photos of beautiful Utrecht.

By far the best game to run in the Nethetlands. But I had no time to for it. It takes months to develop a social circle and I was there for only 4 days

Very true all over the Netherlands - though it's more like years. If you haven't known someone since you were five you'll never truly be close to them - and as the expression goes: "if you ain't Dutch, you ain't much." But no matter what, yes, they are usually polite and rarely have I met one who does not speak fluent English.

Utrecht is a student city - if you're over 30 it won't be as easy as it would be for a college aged exchange student, but there are still plenty of good pubs where you can find great beer (Kafe Belgie - must be 200 beers on that menu), polite conversation (seemed like everywhere) and even a live band now and then (Boot Hill Saloon). One thing that you'll notice is nearly every 25+ girl seemed to already have had an American boyfriend once in their past. Such is reality in the age of cheap airfare and smartphones.

At least most of the ones nominally identifying as feminists were still not disgusting to look at.

If you are in town for King's Day, it's a huge street party. Be sure to bring something orange to wear.

And if you do decide to get a bike (highly recommended), don't get something too expensive as bike theft by junkies is rampant, especially near the train station areas. Overall though, it is still a very safe city. That said, I would avoid residential areas with a lot of Moroccan immigrants such as Ondeep - there's been some problems in the past with racial tensions, but even then only infrequently. No reason you'd want to go there anyway.

In case you are wondering, yes, you can smoke weed at the coffee shops there too - not just Amsterdam. Funny thing is you won't see a lot of ethnic Dutch in those places, mostly third worlders, students and the occasional tourist.

Sticky boy are you a local? Do you have any other places and venues to add?
I am 27 with most girls guessing around 25 so age was not an issue. It is just general Dutch girls suspicious attitude when being approached.

I used to be local, but it's been a while. Back then they called it Queen's day but it's the same thing - wild street party that goes nearly all night. The link to the web site says it's April 27th.

If you are a student there, that will help you tremendously with social circle game, but yes, the Dutch can be standoffish, even to those close in age. It isn't considered rude, to them it's actually thought of as being polite by respecting your privacy and personal space. If you are around long enough and there's social clubs or groups you can join while there, shared hobbies, activities or anything like that, it will help with social creds tremendously.

As for night venues; there was a popular EDM club similar to the ones you mentioned that was called Monza, but it is permanently closed. Address was Potterstrat 16; maybe something opened up in its place. Another underground place that's still around is called City Hall - might be worth a look.

One other thing I forgot to add, which isn't so much a venue as it is a great store, is Bert's Bier Huis. You name it, they got it!

Solid write-up Vinny. Was cool meeting you and Fury and I had fun.

Sadly I wasn't really able to find my vibe since I'm new to game and still rely on alcohol to loosen me up. Lesson learned, next time I'll travel by train so I can drink and don't have to drive home for 90 minutes. I was happy about girls estimations of my age tho, not even one guessed I am older than 24 while I'm close to my 30's.

For those ever getting a chance to meet up with Vinny, do it! Cool, goodlooking and laidback guy able to have a decent and interesting conversation. When he switches on that "Game Button" of his, he's an approaching machine. I didn't count but I've lost him in the crowd quite some times simply bacause he spotted a new target. Highlight for me was him chatting up some cute girl and within 60 seconds she was stuck on him like glue. Another 30 seconds later they were exchanging saliva. Thumbs up, superquick close.

Don't forget, you can totally get away with that little "I've got Spanish roots." lie.

As for the DLV because you're a foreigner I think that is true because you're from Eastern Europe. Western Europeans for the most part are still looking down at EE for whatever reason, hence why I told you to use your mediterranean looks and and state you have Spanish roots. Spanish = instant DHV in The Netherlands. Being a bit taller than average also adds up for you.

Regarding Fury, I can fully understand he prefers the 'outer Western part' of Holland because of him being a goodlooking black dude. For black guys, the further you move "inland' the worse it gets simply because there are less black people in those areas. Fury isn't a tall guy (no effence mate) which can be a downside in the 'Tallest country on earth', but he fully makes up with his looks, moves, posture and being dressed sharp. (Please, do the forum a favor and share your experience from last friday, great story!)

Great call about Kingsday, absolute 'must experience' for guys attending The Netherlands around the end of april. I just like to add, the night before is even more important, Kingsnight. We Dutchies just take Kingsday as an excuse to party a bit extra the night before. There are tons of Kingsnight/Kingsday festivals all over the country.

Like Slickboy said, dress orange and don't be afraid to look like a clown because in fact that's even better.

Yes, I understood your point. A very good datasheet by the way.
But girls in which countries in Northern Europe (orange colour on your map) are better than Dutch ones in the looks department, especially better than the Frisian girls?
I guess that none of that 8 countries marked with orange colour have better than Frisian girls.

This particular map lists Baltic states as Northern Europe too. Most of the forum member would call it EE.
I have by chance been too all countries colored orange except Iceland. But my knowledge of Scandinavia is far from good. I went there for work purposes only and did not run any game. The only reason I even write about it is that I still looked at girls as I always do and formed a collective image.
I've spent only few hours in Norway, only one day in Sweden and only around a week of total time in Denmark and Finland.
I would say Netherlands definitely beats Denmark and Finland. Norway and Sweden not sure, might be the same level.
Scandinavia has more blondes, but is beaten by Baltics in the looks department. I personally prefer Lithuanian girl look. Long dirty blonde/brown hair, long legs.
But as always it is often a matter of taste.

It was good meeting these two guys. Vinny is absolutely fearless, did a lot of approaching. Quite successfully I would add. Had this been any other country, you would have been smashing left and right.

While I appreciate the compliments Stim, I am definitely not good looking enough to overcome the lack of height in the tallest country on earth. This is why I don't really day or night game in the Netherlands, they are too obsessed with height here. However, Tinder has been surprisingly good for me here because I can at least DHV through my personality and charm before height even gets brought up. And if it is mentioned afterwards, usually the girl is interested enough to follow through with the date. While I may not have the ease of approach as Vinny here (who is quite tall), it is still a small victory that I was able to do so well being short in such a tall country. Meaning that if I continue to improve my inner game, I should be able to pull in most reasonable places if I was able to overcome the height discrimination in the Netherlands.

You do have a great vibe though. And you are jacked. I think you should try day game, it could work very well for you. But for me personally it is the hardest thing.

Why are you in Holland anyways? When are you planning to leave these lands so difficult for gaming?

Here is a bonus photo of Doutzen Kroes

I would say Netherlands definitely beats Denmark and Finland.

I'm Swede and I guess that Finnish girls, particularly the ones that live in Helsinki and Turku (South and South-West of Finland) are on the same level as girls in Netherlands and in Poland (I can compare with Krakow and Gdansk only).

How do you think OP, Utrecht and Groningen are on the same level as Helsinki, Turku and Krakow, Gdansk in terms of looks department ?

I personally love the facial structure of Dutch women.

That's why it's my favorite European country for women

Thats true. It is this Doutzen Kroes type of look, I've mentioned. Can't really find it anywhere else.

Women in the North-West area of germany have similar facial structure, check out the MÜnster and Osnabruck area and everything around it, they look a lot like those dutch faces you mention, sometimes slighty different aswell. A lot of women I have seen in that area of germany would be considered model material in the anglosphere lol. I think German women (specially from the North of Germany) are by far the most underrated when it comes to raw looks, I mean some people compare german to british women, when on reality german women are leagues above and beyond from the british, I work in a multicultural company so I very well know the huge difference lol. The thing with German, Dutch and in gerneral germanic type of women women (add Norway, Sweden, Denmark and the likes here) is that they are too rational, logic and highly emotionally stable (compared to those women of US/UK ,etc) so they will evaluate the whole package and are more into LTR than anything else, thats why they are usually more sticking to their own men, who might appear culturally more compatible and fitting to their own life structures and schedules. The typical overly chatty american or Brit guy who talks way too much and cant stop it to save his own life might appear too overwhelming and pushy to the average woman in these lands who are used to a more laid bad, relaxed and emotionally stable man who don't really approach (in the way americans do)and whose purpose in life isnt primary smashing tail but are more the arty type, or traveler type with interest in cultural and/or social/historial matters,,, and there isnt a clear dating culture, everything is done by inner social circle game, same as in Most of the world outside the English speaking nations where male-female interactions are too unnatural and forced.
