Few seem to have a genuine appreciation of the female form, correct me if I'm wrong? Picasso doesn't count because he doesn't have a sense of form at all.

I think a round female was considered upper class back in those days, which is why they were depicted like that.

But I still love all those paintings, Renaissance type stuff. And besides, classical art is not where I go to seek out female beauty. That's what porn is for.

Think it will take longer mate, simply because they are too fucking powerful, and we cant exactly elect a supreme leader. Also whilst men in tehran are changing for the good, the people in shitty little cities like tabriz and mashad are still brainwashed.

I disagree. Never underestimate the power of social media...in 2009, the young Iranians weren't organized enough to form a comprehensive coalition vis-a-vis Facebook, Twitter, etc. I don't think Instagram was even a thing back then. 2016 and onward, however, is a whole different beast. I heard about a few websites being unlocked a little while back, trade and contact with former allies is opening up at an incredible rate, and obviously Rouhani is making rounds across Europe; this is all optimistic news.

Also, I would hardly call Mashhad a "shitty little city"...

This is ironic considering the the old saying "When in Rome, do as the Romans do".

In a sense this is a microcosm of what Europe is becoming. Let's alter and quite literally cover up our culture to make you comfortable in our home. This isn't being polite. It is covering up your identify and history. As the saying goes, visitors should respect and assimilate.

Italians may not have a lot to feel good about right now, but they should about their art, music, architecture, cuisine, fashion, and history. Along with Greece it was the birth place of western civilization. As a man of Italian descent, I find this to be a distasteful and cowardly display of deference.

You're overthinking this. They're not covering up any of their identity; the leaders of each country literally exchanged cultural gifts. I think the concept of "hijab" is bullshit, but I think the Italians were just being respectful. Iran was there to give them beaucoup $$$, after all.

Its awful, there is a distinct lack of young women and its full of old men and middle aged women that are full on religious. Also has lots of beggars on the streets. It smells like shite near the mosque there too.
