Fasting to loose body fat

So basically I've been fasting since January 25. So far so good! I start my fast at around 8pm until 12pm ( I only drink perrier). It's much easier then what i expected. I went from 198.6 lbs to 195.8 since starting. Im currently healing from a cold and will restart training tomorrow 3x times a week. Im tracking all my cals and macros with my fitness pal but its still unclear for me to find my daily protein goal. Ive read 0.8g/lbs of protein per desired weight. Thank you all for your help!

What was your body fat percentage when you started?

Fasting to loose body fat

"Ramadan fasting (12-16 hours per day, sunrise to sunset) decreases daytime alertness, mood, wakefulness, competitive athletic performance, and increases the incidence of traffic accidents. It's difficult to determine the relative contributions of dehydration and a lack of food to these adverse phenomena."

Curious if you guys have tried just cutting calories instead of fasting. From my research, it doesn't seem fasting alone creates significant advantages. Yes, there is talk on effects on insulin sensitivity and fat burning by keeping the body in a fasted state longer, but at least for me, more of my fat losses have come from simply eating less over weeks (and then comparing).

Maybe I'm doing something wrong.

Everyone is different mate.

A study of fasting for Ramadan can hardly be considered indicative of the results that an RVFr could expect from intermittent fasting. For starters, they eat predominately crappy high carb foods, and they also eat overnight which is completely out of whack with the body's circadian rhythm.

Personally I'm firmly in the camp of two big low carb meals- usually lunch and dinner. Like BB I have had success skipping lunch so long as the breakfast is keto, so I will do this for convenience sake if I am due to be out on site all day.

I tend to lift before dinner, so I will often have a cup of oats as a boost pre workout.

I find the above to be an easy to stick to plan which keeps me at a reasonable figure all year round with little effort. I would guess I'm around 18%BF- for me, going lower requires serious calorie counting.

The best soloution is one that is easy for you to stick to and gives results via habit. I can't be bothered juicing for example. So my first meal includes half a head of brocolli and the dinner a whole bag of salad.

It's funny because I read a study that said the exact opposite when I first searched for information on fasting. I'll make sure to link it here a bit later.

Eat early in the day. Fast late in the day. Your body will burn its fat reserves.

I recently came across this interesting documentary that argues that fasting promotes longevity, and will help prevent heart disease, diabetes, and other life-threatening illnesses.

I'm thinking of fasting one or two days a week, but I fear it will fuck up my metabolism and stunt weight/body fat loss. I'm trying to get ripped and drop a good portion of body fat by summer.

Pretty much all of the info that I got from fasting was from the website leangains.com, and on it there's a bunch of study that are posted by Martin with credible methodology that shows that with adequate nutrition, your metabolism doesn't crash for up to 72 Hours. I'm a big dude myself, and have no issues with fasting 20H-24H when I want to. Try it out, and make sure to do it fallowing a high calorie day

Good result from IF over the last couple of months. Outlined my abs in just a few short weeks, but undine the good work by over eating my calories in the feeding window. It's not about eating as much as you want in that time, you still have to stick to the calorie count to get the results.

Assuming you have a significant amount of weight to lose, would it be advantageous to fast for 20 hours as opposed to 16 hours while still maintaining the same caloric intake?

I don't see why not assuming you have the willpower. I would be sure to make this low carb, or even keto based upon my experiences. The last thing you want with 20 hours ahead of you is an insulin rush and the following crash.

I follow the Brad Pilon method of at least 1 24-hour fast per week. In the winter, I do 2 fasts per week.
