Lumiere and oldnemesis just put out a couple of stellar posts above. I see a lot of hypocrisy on this topic. Many are defending it with psuedo-scientific bable about "genetic destiny" and evolution but it usually boils down to insecurity/incongruity in the end.

I haven't mentioned this earlier (other than in pms to select members) but I am currently living in an arrangement. One of the foundations of this for my part is that any temporary intimacy I experience with an outside party are in no way a threat to my relationship. I have other rules/expectations on me in other areas as a result. I can't go into to much details because one of the rules is that outsiders are not to be privy to said details (social pressure from family/friends being what it is). I intend to honor that.

For a lot of people this kind of relation is the living dream. What most men fail to get however is that this requires immense effort, discipline and trust. The last one being something that most people gaming aren't big on as they usually come from a background of being neglected by women and are as a result bitter or even hateful of them. You can't live my lifestyle if you have the tiniest morsel of distrust for this kind of set up, it will eat you up (not to mention that women are expert at sensing judgmental behavior) I realize my game and philosophy is very different to what's usually the norm on this kind of board. To some of you this probably sounds like total BS but I got hooked on "the Game" 12+ years ago and I would like to think that I have transcended the PUA mindset.

I understand the point you are trying to make. Yes I do think people want to put unrealistic expectations on others.

But that being said. If I ever found out she cheated on me. I would still dump her. I just would think it was in her slutty nature to be a slut. Then I would say that I would have to screen women a little better.

Of course this is something every guy has to decide for themselfes. I'm a jealous guy so personally that is out of the question for me. An LTR is implicitly monogamous in the vast majority of cases. A girl who has cheated on a previous boyfriend has demonstrated that she has problems remaining monogamous. A man interested in a monogamous relationship should select girls who have demonstrated an ability to remain monogamous. How is this an unrealistic standard?

That's not an acceptable answer. If you want to argue that humans shouldn't try to be monogamous, that is another issue.

By choosing monogamy, the couple has already decided to go against nature. Have they been able to go against nature in the past? That is a good determinant of whether they can go against nature in the future.

Much of what we do is against nature. We have natural impulses, but then we have a rational mind that filters those impulses and tells us whether we should follow them or not. If you are deciding to form some partnership that goes against natural impulse, then you would be wise to select a partner with good impulse control.

Indeed. If this is the most important thing for you, it is possible to find one - as long as you are ready to trade off. For example, you can marry a very religious girl, and she won't cheat on you.
