Fitness Masks Anyone?

Last few times at the gym I have seen some Bane wannabees using these fitness masks. Jokes aside, anyone use them? Helpful?

I don't think I would use it lifting weights but cardio maybe.

Some friends have been using it for a few years now. One of them is doctor. He told me it doesn`t help you with altitude (what it is meant for) but it does train your diaphragm and makes your ocygen inhalation easier.

Expensive stuff for what it does though. +10 for looking like bane.

Fitness Masks Anyone?

From what I've read they can actually have negative effects on training, as with restricted oxygen you won't be able to push your muscles as hard as you would normally be able to, and it will hinder your recovery time. For the regular guy just trying to stay fit and look better, they are a definate no go. Just another fitness fad supported by the placebo effect.

I see some boxers wearing it. I think that training in a humid environment is LITERALLY like wearing that mask though.

I find things like this hilarious.

Sure, they may help elite athletes gain that extra 1% or whatever.

For the average dude, there are a million ways that they could gain that 1% without looking like a cock.

I am inclined not to use it plus I don't like blowing money on anything useless. But my curiosity got me as usual.

As usual thanks to the guys for your thoughts. I'll pass on it.

Altitude masks are beyond useless and actually reduce results

You want to live at high altitude to get the increased RBC benefits but train at low altitude to get a better training session.

Altitude masks do not help in any way at all as they do not increase RBC count. You need a shift in pressure to get the benefits which is why top athetes sleep in specialized chambers.

All altitude masks do is force you to reduce your training intensity which in turn leads to less results. You may as well burn your money.
