These haircuts are not "Nazi" haircuts.

I disagree. The Don Draper haircut is called the "Executive Contour" and it is indeed a traditional businessman's cut from mid-century (and yes, mid-century haircuts are in style now), but that haircut is longer on the sides. I'm talking specifically about the shaved sides / long on top, often undercut style.

Lots of references back this up. Here's a page on military style haircuts:

The Undercut, informally known as an SS haircut or Darmody haircut, is a haircut that has been trending for the last two years for some unknown reason; it is like every male in the United Stated under the age of 25 must have an Undercut because each one of his Facebook friends has an Undercut. For the love of Bambi, fellow male readers, think and don’t be sheep: only get a particular haircut if you truly think it suits you and not because “everyone is getting one”. If you regularly get silly-looking haircuts because you have low self-confidence and simply want to fit in, then I recommend you to get my bestseller (yes, bestseller) book, The Curly Hair Book, as I cover not only all about hair care and hairstyling for men but I also give you some good motivation and mental encouragement so that you get to use your hair to help construct the puzzle that makes you as a male. If you don’t have curly hair and/or would rather read more formal stuff, then get my other bestselling book, The Men’s Hair Book.

Ok, back to the Undercut.

The Undercut is a mere bowl haircut, which means that the sides and back of the head are clipped short (up to a number three guard length) whereas the hair is left as long as you want on the top. Of course, in terms of military haircuts, the Undercut should only have the hair on the top of the head at a maximum length of two inches, but you are free to have your hair as long as you want although, the longer the hair, the sillier the Undercut tends to look as there is no smoothing of the haircut’s edges (although you might want to get some fading done on the edges due to the aforementioned walking-mushroom effect).

Clean-cut young men have been going to F.S.C. Barber in the West Village and asking for the same haircut: buzzed on the sides, longer on top and slicked back with a dab of pomade. You could call it a modified McSqueeb, a J. Edgar Hoover or maybe a Jimmy Darmody, after the character in Boardwalk Empire.

But a lot of them just ask for a Hitler Youth, said Sam Buffa, a founding partner of the barbershop. “I was trying to not use that” term, he added.

From a site for WW2 re-enactors (Guys who dress up as German soldiers / Waffen-SS):

Although the truly authentic haircut is shaved from the neck and tapered up to the top of the ears all the way around and slicked straight back (actually worn quite long on top). We realize that this is a little extreme, especially if we don't want to scare our families or the people we work with! (Well, okay... some of us do!!)

If it's referred to as the "SS Haircut" or "Hitler Youth" haircut, well...

Regardless of origin, I think its a great haircut for the in shape man. The tapered sides and back help emphasize a strong jawline and other masculine facial features. If your jawline isn't as strong as it could be, grow a beard.

I don't want to change the course of this thread...but there are quite a few Asian guys who sport a similar look also known as the "Pompadour." As an Asian guy myself, I will chime in on this.

1) Do not get this hairstyle if you're a pale Asian.
2) Do not get this hairstyle if you have smaller eyes
(As a guy with smaller eyes myself, this hairstyle makes certain Asians look Fobbier & negatively impacts the complexion of one's face in the goofiest of manners)
3) This hairstyle however can appear more alpha for Asian guys of a darker complexion from SE Asian or Pacific Islands.

If you want to play it safe & look classier (my preference), even that shit out as Tigermandigo mentioned.

Asian guy with undercut. I agree it doesn't fit, specially if you're a fat fuck.

Yep this was a very popular look in the 90's too. All the faggy azn pride gangster types would also comb up the pompadour look into some kind of exaggerated retro 50's looking style. It was insanely douchey but the girls definitely liked it in the early 90's. That haircut is still around but people aren't gel'ing it up like they used to..thank fuck.

Someone posted the more military looking Brad Pitt shave and comb over. That was very popular in the 90's too. Lots of metal/alternative rock type guys would sport that.

These are cool haircuts and you would be wise to adopt it.

If your shit looks like the faux hawke, or it's cousin with the stupid little point at the top that haircut hasn't been in fashion since 2009.

What's that quote from?

http://thirdreichconfessions3.tumblr.com

Attraction to Nazi men is pretty common. I've heard quite a few comments from women about Nazis being "sexy".

A couple of fairly recent personal anecdotes- a girlfriend said to me " When you come out of the shower with your hair slicked back, you look like a Nazi (I have German ancestry), and that turns me on, it that wrong?" and laughed.

Another one just a few months ago insisted on showing me this clip from Schindler's List and said it was very erotic to her:

None of which should be surprising; women are attracted to strong, masculine men who are confident and have a mission in life.

This haircut is way too popular in Montreal at the moment. It used to be 2 years ago and since then barbershops showed up everywhere and lot of guys mix it with a beard. Sadly I think only people who don't have a round face should us it. I keep my own style, give me a different look than the local guys now.

Strangely this haircut was not at all popular in France...most who would get the side of their head shaved and long hair on top are the thugs from north African origins and no one wants to be associated with that.

I rock a hybrid of the high and tight and the undercut. Number 6 or 7 on top slicked to one side with the sides/back buzzed to number 1. I can't stand how common these cuts are becoming but nothing compliments my facial shape better. The longer top gives my head some much needed vertical height, and proportions my big ears out a bit, while the buzzed sides emphasize the strong jawline. You definitely need the right type of face to pull it off.

I actually think the Nazi style cuts look pretty bad ass. Unfortunately I'm getting a little thin in the front. So I think I'll stick to short hairstyles to hide my impending baldness.

Side part Undercut hairstyle:

Instead of using a taper haircut for the back and sides of the head in the side part hairstyle, the Undercut was also used by Nazi military males to give their side part styles an even length on the sides and back of their heads.

...

Incidentally, we've also heard of the "Hitler youth hairstyle" name being mentioned to refer to the Side Swept Undercut.

CONTROVERSIAL ROOTS
While an increasing number of gentlemen continue to sport this haircut, probably only a few are aware that this style has controversial roots. Referred to as The Hitler Youth cut, the buzzed temples and flopping forelocks trace their way back to the days of fascism. Search for the 1935 Nazi propaganda film Triumph of the Will to spot early versions of today’s popular undercut.

On the other hand, men, including a handful of celebrities, have cottoned on to it despite the totalitarian connotations because it’s easy to dress up or down. Justin Timberlake has been coiffed like this since he released “The 20/20 Experience” in 2013. Brad Pitt’s hairstyle in last year’s Fury looked like a more extreme form of his do in 2009’s Inglourious Basterds. Early this week, even pop star Austin Mahone posted an Instagram photo of himself with much shorter sides and the top combed back. Alas, Amon Goeth, Ralph Fiennes’s character in 1993’s Schindler’s List, remains the pop culture paragon for this haircut.

Anyway, next time you see a modern day hipster with this haircut maybe you'll remember this thread and laugh a bit...

I went to this stylish salon a while back and this hipster-looking stylist gave me this haircut when I simply asked, "cut it short." I thought it looked really stupid on me (though it improved when my hair grew out a bit).

1. This haircut works well for certain people. Know your facial structure and what looks good on you.
2. Haircut was pretty universal back in the 30s.

well, some Mexicans were always sympathetic with the Germans. You had German brewers moving there and setting up some breweries like Negra Modela, etc. Also, the Germans tried to entice Mexico to enter WWI on their side and attack the U.S. to reclaim former Mexican territory like Texas and Calif. It's very easy to maintain, you just shave your sides and back every time you feel like it's too long and you look less sharp, I haven't visited barber in about 2 years, half an hour in front of a mirror and you are set, great when you are moving a lot as well. One thing that pissed me was that I needed to use some kind of gel or wax each day but as the length increased I don't need it as much as the hair is in place most of the time.

I got the undercut as well and love it so far. I find the thing for me was switching from gel to matt/wax gave me a much softer look and probably more approachable in the end. So for all those with a strong jawline, maybe something to consider.

I see a lot of hipster barber shops here in Mexico and a lot of undercuts with the men in their twenties. They're more hipster style than nazi style like in that hilarious Mexican Hitler Youth photo.

Only in North America people associate some vintage hairstyle that has been around for centuries with racism, and then make it a racist thing!

I am so sick of North America and its retarded people!

I can't wait to leave!
