Girlfriend wants to take up dancing

If you pick up dancing you're guaranteed to interact with other girls.

If you get good at it, which will take some time, then you'll get the attention of other girls. Get invited to parties and who knows what else.

You don't have to act on any of these things, but it's great to have an extra in the kitty.

Girlfriend wants to take up dancing

Hey,

Bit of a weird question on this forum, but I'd appreciate some input. I'm in an LTR since about a year. She's been dancing before and she wants to start taking dancing lessons with me. I have absolutely no interest, experience or knowledge of dancing whatsoever, but I'm generally happy to try something new. She then asked if I try it and don't like it, could she have another guy as her dancing partner?

My gut reaction is that I don't care. If I ever think she's cheating, I'll happily dump her and move on to the next one. But because of this attitude, I'm sometimes worried that I come across as too lenient. She lives with me and is heavily involved in my social circle, so I don't want to be in a position where it looks disrespectful to me.

How would you guys deal with this?

If you don't care about her and don't want to spend money and time on dancing let her dance with other partner.
At the same time you can start looking for another girlfriend.

Dance represents a sexual act. All the dances are subconsciously about that. In 90% of the cases partners sleep together.

If you care for her and want to learn something new, take the classes.

This is the red flag. She knows the implications of this statement, it's a test. I'm not as forgiving or trusting as the rest of the posters here saying it's no big deal. By itself it isn't, but she included this caveat for a reason. Chew on that for awhile and see if it don't taste bitter.

Girlfriend wants to take up dancing

I'd like to give my input on this topic as well.

There are a couple sentences I absolutely dread thinking about hearing:
"I think i'm pregnant/I forgot to take the pill"
Anything related to marriage
"I'd like to go dancing."
Why do I dread this dancing sentence? I am a heavy metal guy, so I absolutely detest any "dancing" music such as salsa, kizomba, edm or whatever that basically does not include electric guitars, bass and drums. I don't like to dance. It's not my type of fun and I would rather stare at a wall.

From over the years I learned something. If a girl likes to dance and you don't. You either start dancing, pray that it passes or you're fucked. Simple as that. I've seen that happen several times to guys I know. I've heard women complaining about that. I've seen women cheating. And it happened once to me (I had to give her the "it's not you, it's me" speech before it was too late).

Last year I went with my GF to a wedding, and even though I asked her to come to "dance" she refused several times.
This year we also went to a couple of weddings and I asked her again to come to "dance". She again refused.
She said that the way we "dance" (not close together) is not the same way she dances, so she does not like.
Funny thing, at one of the weddings she pointed to one girl dancing in a very slutty way and told me that in a club she used to go, she used to dance like that (and her friends as well). I laughed inside, because sometimes my girl has "coordination issues" and there's no way she could move like that.

So, the other day, out of the blue she asked me what about if we go to dance. I selectively chose not to hear that sentence, but she kept pestering me. I said that I don't like and as such will not spend money on something that will not bring me any form of joy, thus being wasted money.
She ended up trying to guilt trip me with the "Why can't I do something I love?". I told her that she is an adult and can do whatever she wants. Even though she's living at my place, I'm not a prison warden. The "Won't you be jealous?" followed. I replied with "I'm not jealous, but you're an adult, and know that actions have consequences".
I told her that I already pay a high monthly fee for the gym and would not pay more for other activities. If she want's she can go. I also told her that Saturday mornings there is always a free dance class at the gym, and if she wants me to go there, she just needs to wake me up (she never did).

I've been on this road before and I'm pretty sure this is not the end of that conversation, but if she continues to press this issue, I know that I will have to make a though choice.

Have you tried dancing with other girls if she says "no?"
I don't have a girlfriend so my context is obviously different but when I'm out with a girl and she doesnt want to dance I will go and dance by myself or dance with another girl. Once or twice usually does the trick. The next time I go to dance its pretty much a token resistance and I just drag her ass out to the dance floor.
