Car insurance premium almost doubled; should I switch?

A few months ago I had an accident that damaged my car badly although no other car or person was involved. Apparently as a consequence of this my premium almost doubled ($280/month). Should I switch? I got a quote from another company, mentioning my accident, and it was close to what I way now. The current company (Geico) advised me that this is basically a trap and rates will increase later.

Basic logic tells me that since I had the accident while with Geico, it's understandable that they want to squeeze money out of me so 'if' I don't have an accident while with another company there is no plausible reason to increase the rates. What do you say?

A better question to ask is "What EXACTLY do I want out of life and what EXACTLY am I doing to get EXACTLY that? If you can answer that question truthfully you will be the most Alpha motherfucker you will ever need to be. (PapayaTapper)

Go with the company that's giving you the best rate. Geico is not giving you advice to serve your best interests. They are doing it for theirs.

I'm in a situation where I have to switch insurance.

After February GEICO is refusing to renew my insurance.

In your guys opinions what is the best insurance to switch to I'm just looking for low rates across the board?

I think Progressive is the one that has a built in comparison tool. Either way you should do your own research and pick the lowest rate, the accident is definitely going to "haunt" any rate you get though.

You might be screwed just like me. I caught a super speeder ticketing coming from Florida going to Atlanta. I have State Farm. Monthly payment went from 160 to 263

Holy fuck how is it so high?

That's high enough I'd consider ditching the car, or at the very least just having only liability. Also, try AAA
